BEST DISEASE, also known as Vitelliform Macular Dystrophy type 2 (VMD2), is a heritable disorder occurring primarily in European Caucasians. Individuals with Best disease generally show a gradual loss of visual acuity starting in their teenage years, although the frequency with which an affected individual may show symptoms and the severity of those symptoms is highly variable.
   Best disease is autosomal dominant; in other words, a mutation in only one copy of the VMD2 gene located on chromosome 11 may result in development of the disease. Prior to their vision loss, individuals with Best disease accumulate a mass of fat-like material that resembles an egg yolk (vitelline is a word that means yolk-like) in the area of the retina responsible for central vision. Surprisingly, it is the breakup of this mass rather than its formation that is associated with the gradual vision loss characteristic of Best disease.

From Philosophy 4, the poems from this chamber stir emotions. "Circle" strikes an emotional chord of subtle discord. It is discordance that stirs the emotional responses, making them accessible to the higher energies of the human instrument.
Chromosome 11 is responsbile for the production of Cholecystokinin B receptor which causes anxiety. In addition, Chromosome 11 produces D(2) dopamine receptor,which has been suggested to be associated with several psychiatric problems

There are many references to sight/vision in chamber 11. "Eye" is mentioned at least 5 times with the word "seen" mentioned at least 8 times. Clearly this chamber is referencing sight/seeing.

Chromosome 11 leads me to believe that this is the location of the gene sequence that codes for the housing of the "human soul." Chamber 11 poetry states "...and this tiny fragment spinning around giant orbs unseen will resolve my soul and help me find the one heart awake and waiting." In addition, "...I have felt my spirit follow the one sound that is free." Also, chamber 11 poetry states "I have taken this body to an inner place", "Only feelings can hear the sound of this space", "..this sacred place alone."
