Edward and Anne were married in Newark, Essex, New Jersey.  They had six sons and two daughters, named Leanard, John, Daniel, James, Henry, Edward, Mary and Margaret.

  • Edward and his wife left Londonderry, Ireland on 10 May, 1834, aboard the Brig, 'Highlander' and arrived in St. Johns, New Brunswick, on 13 June 1834. Their immigation record reveal there home town was Strabane, Tyrone County, Ireland.
    
    Upon disembarking in St. Johns the young couple probably engaged a smallboat to the mainland and then procured wagon transportation inland asthis was the customary mode of travel of the times. Apparently, theirdestination was Newark, New Jeresy, where other family members likelyresided. Seven months pregnant with her first child, Anne had enduredmuch to assure United States citizenry to her posterity.
    
    Records reveal that between 1834 and 1846 six Martin children (five boysand one girl) were christened in St. Johns Catholic Church in Newark.Daniel was christened on 9 February 1836, just three days after hisbirth. Anne died in 1851, followed in 1856 by her husband Edward.
