Back Ground:

Brutus band was born on the 6th of September, 1998 and made there debut on the 20th of December 1998. Brutus has come a long way and they desired to make a difference in the society, especially the young Guyanese, through the medium of music. Our motto is "Do what has to be done".

Experience and Achievements:

To date the group has played over 80 concerts in Guyana ( Small venues to large venues, bottom house gigs to street corner gigs). Some of these shows were sponsored, contracted and were done at the efforts of the band. Concerts were done at Hotel Tower, Side Walk Cafe and Jazz Club, Main Street Lime and Girl Guides Pavilion (All these venues are in Georgetown). Brutus carried there performance on the road to Enmore (East Coast Demerara), Fryish Village (East Coast Berbice), Meten-Meer-Zorg (West Coast Essequibo) and Mc Doom (East Bank Demerara).

A few out standing shows that were done in Georgetown are: Rhythm Nation 4th Anniversary Show (Where the Rap, R&B, Dum and Hip Hop nation got to see a local metal band in action) at club Night Flight, a concert at Subway and the first live rock concert which was broadcast from Jerries on Camp Street on 98.1 Hot FM ( Which was sponsored by Jerries). However, through the years most of the concerts were done at Side Walk Cafe and Jazz Club and the performance were mostly to promote the local music and to raise funds to sustain the band.

Brutus has being able over the pass years to work with sponsors like Banks D.I.H., D.D.L., Subway, Guyana Varity Store and Nut Center, The Music Source, Jerries, Club Blue Note and Saint Bad from Solid Gold and the fans who chip in from time to time ( Too much to mention).

The band has recorded two CDs. The first one is the demo album titled "Poisoned" in July 2000 (Which recorded in one day due to lack of money). This CD consist of original music. The CD was officially released at the GuyExpo Trade Fair in August 2000. The CD sale was very encouraging. The second CD was recorded in November 2002 live at Side Walk Cafe and Jazz Club and is called "Trippin' at the side". The music recorded are a mixture of Brutus music and music of other bands which inspired the band ( Cover music). Due to financial constraints the second CD did not receive as much promotion as "Poisoned".

A video recording was done by Len Crosby from Guy nterprise for one of the songs "Insanity" which was aired by a few local television stations. This song is included in an international compilation named "Globe of Steel" by a German company, owned by Rudiger Nitz. "Insanity" the video is the first metal video for any band in Guyana.

In July 2002, the band was privileged to play with an international Artist, Michael Zentner ( A jazz electric violinst) from U.S.A. Zentner played with a few musicians who inspired Brutus to play music. The show was held at Side Walk Cafe and jazz Club.

Among other artist the band played with are: Hurdie Marshall ( Guyanese jazz guitarist), Jerome ( Guitarist from Holland), and Rishi ( From Tad Pole who is a Bass/Vocalist from England).
