Match Report: "BELMORE DIGS A DEEPER HOLE FOR ACC" Day 1: For this match, ACC were without their skipper Norm as he was up in Queensland for the weekend. So it was left to Ray and Con to share the duties. Ray was the first to arrive and went about setting up the stumps for the day's play and Con took care of the toss of the coin - and lost. Belmore decided to bat first. Kristian took the new ball for ACC and Sam did the same from the other end. It was Sam who struck first for ACC, a father and son combination as Belmore's opener spooned a simple catch to Graham: 1/5. Sam soon earned his second scalp, bowling out the batsman to have Belmore at: 2/16. Things were looking promising for ACC against their second placed opponents. H.Nahlous came to the crease and picked up the scoring rate for the Diggers. Kristian had a rare spell that went wicketless and a double bowling change was made, on came Ray and Jeremy. "Deasey" bowled well with his right arm medium pace but was still being hit for a fair few runs. Ray seemed to slow the scoring down a little but Belmore's third wicket partnership continued to grow. H. Nahlous brought up his 50 and was dropped by Jack at point and also wicketkeeper Con soon after off the bowling of Ray. Ray finally prevailed, breaking through with Kristian taking a catch to make it: 3/113. Omur, who was making his debut, was given the ball to have a bowl and he looked reasonably sharp. After a shaky start, he got his first wicket, bowled: 4/149. Ray took a caught and bowled the very next over and it was: 5/150. H.Nahlous scored an impressive century for Belmore, the first scored against ACC this season. Con suggested bowling Omur from the opposite end, so Dave had a turn to bowl with his right arm medium pace. It proved to be a clever decision as Graham took his second catch off the bowling of Dave: 6/162 and Omur took his second wicket: 7/165. H.Nahlous was finally out for 111, trapped LBW by Dave: 8/170. Omur and Dave cleaned up the tail together, Graham taking yet another catch from Omur's bowling: 9/179 and Dave bringing the Diggers innings to an end with Sebastian taking a catch: 10/183. So overall, Belmore all out for 183, including 12 sundries, with Omur taking 3/33 and Dave 3/8.ACC knew they had a big chase ahead of them and it was Ben and Sam who opened the batting. They got off to a positive start until Ben was bowled for seven: 1/10. Jack was put in as first drop for the purpose of scoring quick runs, but the tactic failed as he was bowled for a duck: 2/10. Omur volunteered to bat at number four and showed no fear, hitting a few slashing shots, but he didn't last, becoming the third victim to be bowled as he was out for nine: 3/25. Next in was one of ACC's season leading run scorers, Jeremy, but he couldn't quite get his eye in, eventually being caught behind for five: 4/32. Sam, who saw four partners depart, eventually succumbed to be the fifth wicket lost, caught for 13: 5/37. The two captains for the day, Ray and Con, combined to try and get things back on track for ACC. They both failed, Ray was caught in the gully for five: 6/50 and Con also caught in the deep for nine: 7/52 and then Sebastian was bowled for one: 8/53. ACC were proving to be no match for Belmore.. Dave made his first runs for the team until he was out bowled for six: 9/67. Only Kristian looked to be in control with the bat, maybe it was because his girlfriend was watching on from the sidelines and he was looking to impress! Graham joined him and hit an entertaining, quick fire 10 runs until he was out bowled: 10/92. Kristian was left unbeaten on 21. ACC were all out for 92 which included six extras. That's now four losses on the trot for ACC, Norm won't be pleased when he finds out!
