Ty Carl Buffington February 11th Update

Ty had a very rough last couple of weeks. In summary, he got his regular immunizations and almost immediately started to have problems. The doctors do not know if the immunizations caused him to shut down or if he caught some kind of virus. But they had to go up to an 8 on his CPAP and was on high oxygen support for several days. Because of the way that he decomponsated over this little problem, they decided that it would be best for him to have a procedure that would allow them to customize the amount of air pressure and oxygen support that they give. The procedure is called a tracheostomy and it involved him having surgery. He will have the tracheostomy for a couple of years so that his lungs can heal. By customizing the air pressure and oxygen his energy will be able to go towards healing his lungs and not towards breathing. Eventually he will be able to have the tracheotomy removed and will be able to breathe on his own.

On top of all of that, one side of his hernia surgery failed. So eventually they will have to re-repair one of his hernais. Which means another surgery for him.

I know that we'll eventually get him out of here. We just have to get him healthy. We've got a long road ahead of us, but we can do it. Ty is working so hard and sometimes he just needs a little help.

Please pray for Ty and for the doctors performing the surgery. He's just got a lot of healing to do. This procedure is the best for him to allow him to heal. Please pray that he heals and that there aren't any complications.
