A Splash Screen is the image that displays on your computer screen as the game loads. You can customize your splash screen image to fit your individual personality.

The splash screen is named as one of the following depending on your default language:

If you do a search of your Sims folder for this file, you will likely not find it because the Splash screen is compressed inside the UIGraphics.far located inside the UIGraphics folder here:

C:\Program Files\Maxis\The Sims\UIGraphics

You do not have to extract this file from its .FAR or change it in any way to change your splash screen.

LoadLoop

What is it?

The LoadLoop is the wav file that plays while your game loads for play. It is named ‘LoadLoop.wav’ and can be found in the following directory:

C:\Program Files\Maxis\The Sims\Music\Modes\Load

You can replace the current ‘LoadLoop.wav’ with another to change the load music to one that is more favorable to your tastes.

Installation Instructions

LoadLoop Installation Method 1:

1.      Back up the original ‘LoadLoop.wav’ in a safe place.

2.      Download the alternate ‘LoadLoop.wav’ of your choice.

3.      Unzip the new ‘LoadLoop.wav’ to the Load folder in your Sims directory.

4.      If asked to replace the old ‘LoadLoop.wav’ with the new one, select yes once you have backed up the original in a safe place.

5.      Start up your game!

6.      Enjoy!

LoadLoop Installation Method 2:

1.      Back up the original ‘LoadLoop.wav’ in a safe place.

2.      Make a copy of your favorite .WAV file.

3.      Rename the new file ‘LoadLoop.wav’.

4.      Place the new ‘LoadLoop.wav’ inside the Load folder in your Sims directory.

6.      Start up your game!

7.      Enjoy!

How do I change it?

There are two options for changing your LoadLoop. In both methods, however, it is important to first back up the original ‘LoadLoop.wav’ file in a safe place so you can restore it at a later date should you desire to do so!

In the first method, after backing up the original ‘LoadLoop.wav’, you can download your choice of ‘LoadLoop.wav’ we have available here. Then unzip the new ‘LoadLoop.wav’ to the ‘Load’ folder located here:

 C:\Program Files\Maxis\The Sims\Music\Modes\Load

If asked to replace the old ‘LoadLoop.wav’ with the new file, select yes.

OR

After backing up the original ‘LoadLoop.wav’ in a safe place, simply make a copy of your favorite .WAV file and rename it ‘LoadLoop.wav’. Then place the new ‘LoadLoop.wav’  inside the ‘Load’ folder located here:

C:\Program Files\Maxis\The Sims\Music\Modes\Load

If asked to replace the old ‘LoadLoop.wav’ with the new file, select yes.

NOTE:

These instructions assume your Sims is installed in the default location.

If it is not, please see the NOTICE below to find out how to locate your Sims Installation folder.

If asked to replace the current ‘LoadLoop.wav’ with the original, select yes.
