Overlook Updates

Update Reconstruction
complete with Ghosts for download! I
am currently redoing the Haunted Overlook, with new custom objects and
ghosts! ----------------------------------------------------------------------previous
updates Update 4/27/07 Ghost Problem
I received a notice from two Sims Fanatics
that reported they could not get the Overlooks ghost to haunt their guests
in their game. I have found that when the lot is installed into another game,
the ghosts go dormant
because they were created in my game. I am currently
doing research to see if I can provide the ghosts for download to those who
want the complete overlook as I created it. Until I get that issue solved, you will have
to create your own ghosts in your own game to haunt your downloaded Overlook!
I have a detailed tutorial which explains how to do this, Making
a Haunted Hotel on VacationIsland. I hope this helps those of you
who wanted the Overlook complete! I will post all future updates here, so
please check back. Thank you to
the two Sims Fans who notified me of this problem! They did not leave a name,
but they know who they are! Thanks friends, and when I get this problem
solved I will let you both know! New and Improved PayPhones
I have
updated the SFC VacationIsland Payphone to allow children to use it, AND I
have improved the original! YAY! Now you have a choice as to which payphone
you want to use in your game! Or you can choose to use both! Shopping List
I have added an item to the Shopping list
that I had previously forgotten to mention! Also, it has been reported that The Lost Sims is not responding to requests to join the
yahoo group, making it impossible for many Sims Fanatics to download the Granite Guard Lion for the Overlooks Topiary
Maze. Thankfully, all of The Lost Sims joinable art is FSF! So, Sims
Fanatics, who cannot get access to The Lost Sims to download the file
themselves, are welcome to email me for the files. Send your request to
Valzgr8 at yahoo dot com. Make sure you put Haunted Overlook Granite Guard
Lion in the subject line, so I dont mistake your email for spam. Happy day,

have received a few reports of Sims Fanatics having trouble locating the SFC
objects used on this lot, Rougue has kindly and generously given me
permission to share her objects directly! Thank you, Rougue! You truly are a

Fanatic Voodoogirl has kindly provided me with a new link to the Sims
Interior Design Sim Site! *giggle* Thank you Voodoogirl and YAY!
Now everyone who wants to have the elegant dining room table I used in the
ballroom and the presidential suite of the hotel can get it! *smile* I love
it when that happens! And thanks
again, to Rougue, for helping me to locate that elegant table in the Hotdate
section of the Sims Interior Design Sim Site, so I can give

Installation
To install
the Overlook Hotel lot 42 into your game, place the downloaded house42.iff
file inside the UserData folder that corresponds to the neighborhood
you want it in. You will
find your UserData folders inside the main Sims
folder. C:\Program Files\Maxis\The
Sims The UserData folders are named according to each
neighborhood they represent
each having a number after its name which
indicates which neighborhood lots it contains. The only UserData folder that does NOT
have a number, is the representative of neighborhood 1. ( Note: You might not have this many UserData files if
you dont have all of the
expansion packs. Thats okay, its not going to hurt anything!) Neighborhood
NOTE: Dont forget that you will need my
VacationIsland payphone installed in your game for this lot to work properly!

The Haunting

I have found that when the lot

I tried to
use as many Maxis made objects/wallpapers/floors as possible to build this
hotel, but to get the look I wanted, I had to use some user made objects.
Almost all of the user made objects I used are not necessary for the hotel to
function properly, however, one object is. You must have the SFC VacationIsland
payphone to allow vacationing Simmies to call a cab to go home from the
haunted Overlook Hotel. For your convenience, this object is included in the
Haunted Overlook Hotel zip. Place it in your downloads folder just like you would any
other download. |
