She Loves the Thunder
A late night thunderstorm and the sound of rain evoked this image.

Words and music by Tom Maynard
Tom Maynard: vocals, guitar; Valerie Thompson: cello

Rain on the roof in the hour of the wolf
She feels a relief sublime
Sleep hides from view, a rumble begins anew
She has no thought for the time

And she loves the thunder
And the rain pouring down
The sky splits asunder
And she loves the sound

Oppressive heat with no sign of relief
The air is stifling and close
Nowhere to turn while inside she burns
'Til she's just ashes and ghost

And she loves the thunder
And the rain pouring down
She can't help but wonder
Is a change coming 'round?

Bridge
On the feathered edge of perception
Called forth by aching need
An answer echoes, a reflection
The voice of passion freed

No blanket or sheet, just the darkness and heat
A film of sweat her only dress
Skin touched by breeze, she feels a shiver, a tease
The flash sees natures caress

And she loves the thunder
A vast, rolling tide
The spell that she's under
Comes from somewhere deep inside

And she loves the thunder
And the rain pouring down
The sky splits asunder
And she loves the sound
