New Housing:
The housing project with the Canadian Mental Health Association is well underway.
The name chosen for the 40 unit apartment complex is 'Phoenix Place'. Located at 175 Dalhousie Street in Brantford, it will be the first new housing construction the downtown core has seen for some time.
The Developer hopes to have the building ready for occupancy sometime in October 2002.
Anyone interested in applying should pick up an application form from Brant and Brantford Local Housing Corporation located at 38 Darling Street.
If picking up an application poses a problem due to physical disability, call the office at 759-6100 to enquire about possible alternate arrangements.
Applicants requiring support services must have their services in place already and be transferrable, or they must be in place at the time of occupancy.

Fundraising:
Thanks to all of the individuals and groups who have assisted Participation House Brantford with fundraising activities.
This Fall we plan on working on a golfing theme! Yes, golfing is hard work!
First we plan to host our own Golf Tournament on September 18th at The Green At Renton and on October 1st and 2nd, with the Great Lakes Tournament Championship at the Brantford Golf and Country Club.
Of course, we will continue to 'scare you' at our Haunted Hayride in October.

Does It Seem Fair To You?
People who receive Provincial support through the Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP)
formerly known as Family Benefits (FBA), have not seen a change in the rate since 1991. For eleven years now $112 dollars a month have had to cover the ever increasing costs.
With no recognition for the growing costs of living, tenants have had to make dramatic choices. The de-listing of many prescription drugs has also meant that the few comfort items that were originally covered by ODSP are not!
Others in society continue to receive cost of living increases. Isn't it about time that all citizens are given the same consideration?
If you agree, please take the time to e-mail or write your provincial M.P.P. to encourage an increase that reflects today's economic situation and the needs of persons with disabilities.
