Chapter Two

Katelyn

I took a long drag from the Newport cigarette and laughed along with my best friend Destiny. "You should have seen my dad's face when I came downstairs this morning."

Destiny cracked a smile. "Do tell."

I blew a smoke ring before answering. "His eyes grew like two sizes larger. Yesterday I was wearing a dress, and now," I guestured to what I was wearing now, tight black leather pants, a black halter top, black combat boots, and my favorite leather jacket...which is also black.

My friend laughed. "Did he say anything?"

I shook my head. "Not about my clothes. He was like suddering, asking me what I wanted for breakfast." I put my ciggerette out. "But he did say something about this," I pointed to my nose ring.

Destiny bit her lip. "And...?"

I laughed again. "He was like, 'Yo...you have a nose ring?' and I just looked at him and said yeah. And he was like 'okay...' and walked off."

She laughed loudly. "I wish I could have seen that." she paused. "What did Kyle say about it?"

I shrugged. "Nothing really. He just sort of stared at me and apologized for not coming to the airport with him yesterday."

Destiny stood up and stretched. "Wait until they see your tattoo."

I stood up and grinned. "Hell yeah. They'll have a fuckin' cow when they see it."

We started walking toward Destiny's cousin's house, who was taking us to get the tattoos. Allie, who was twenty eight, knew someone who would give us the tattoos for fifteen bucks each.

When we reached Allie's apartment, she was already waiting for us outside, holding a couple of bags. "Hey girls. Ready?

We nodded enthusiastically and climbed into the back of Allie's Ford Tempo. "Nice car, Al. What happened? Lose a bet?" Destiny cracked.

"Yeah, actually, I did." she looked into the rearview mirror and smiled at us. "Naw, it's all I could afford right now." she started the engine and pulled out onto the road.

"So, where is this place? And why is it so cheap?" I asked, taking another cigarette out of my pocket.

"It's at my boyfriend's house. He has a tattoo parlor in his basement, and it's that cheap because I'm sleeping with him." she smiled.

"Whoo! You go girl!" Destiny clapped her hands.

"Kate, do you need a light?" Allie asked, looking back at me.

"I lost my matches. I must have left them at the park." I explained.

She tossed a lighter at me. "Keep it. I have tons."

"Thanks," I touched the flame to my ciggerette. "Want one?" I offered to Allie.

"Shit, yeah I want one." She laughed.

I tossed a New Port at her.

"Thanks, chick."

Destiny looked over at me. "You need to quit that shit. It's going to kill you."

I laughed and blew another smoke ring. Then another. "I'm gonna die eventually, so why not help it along? Don't be such a hypocrate. You used to smoke."

Destiny rolled her eyes at me. "What I used to do and what I do now isn't the issue." she paused. "You know why I quit."

I felt a pang of quilt hit my stomach. I never felt quilty until I've said something wrong to my best friend. "Sorry,"

The rest of the car ride went along in silence. Finally, we pulled into a long driveway that led to a medium size house. "Here we are."

We walked through the door and met David, Allie's boyfriend...well after they stopped sucking face.

"Guys, this is David. He's the one who'll give you the tattoos." Allie explained.

David smiled at us. He wasn't exactly hot...not even fine. But, I had to admit, he had a nice ass. "Don't worry, the needles are new, just baught them yesterday. Ain't even been used." he paused."But you girls will have to get drunk before you do this, or it'll hurt like hell. You two got a problem with that?"

"Hell no." I smiled and looked over at Destiny. She didn't drink much, just when she was doing something like this.

She shrugged. "No problem. What do you have?"

"Royal crown, vodka, beer, and whiskey."

Allie smiled. "I'll take vodka if you have any orange juice."

David nodded. "Yeah, it's in the fridge. Can't promise it's any good though."

Allie walked towards the kicthen. "That's reasuring."

Destiny and I sat down on the couch and looked through a book of tattoo designs that was sitting on the coffee table.

"I like that one," Destiny annoucned to me. It was some weird symbols. "What is it?"

David walked over to us and looked at it. "It's Tabet. That reprsents friendship."

"Cool. I'll get that and..."

"Okay, the orange juice is fresh, surprisingly enough." Allie sat several glassess on the table in front of us. "What do you girls want?"

I poured some Vodka and orange juice together and offered some to Destiny. "Have you decided on yours yet?"

She nodded. "Yeah. The the barbed-wire around my forearm with my name in that weird writing..."

"Tabet." David corrected.

"...in Tabet. And a butterfly on my ankel." she said, shooting David a bird without looking up.

I handed my class to her after drinking half of it and took the book from her. I flipped through the pages and found one that I wanted. A dolphin jumpping out of the water. I know, I know. It sounds pussyish, but what can I say? I like dolphins. "The dolphin and the tribal wire."

David looked me up and down. "You don't look like the kind of girl to want a dolphin."

"What's it to you?" I asked harshly. "I like dolphins." Oops. I was getting drunk already. I was becoming rude. And I liked it. I drank more then handed it back to Destiny and stood up. The room spun around and I sort of stumbled.

David laughed. "Okay, girls. You're ready."
