Chapter One
Taylor
I walked over to my Poland Keyboards and turned them on, preparing for the concert my two brothers, Isaac and Zac, were to preform in two hours.
"Ew, Ike. Tighten your strings. That sounds horrible." Zac, who's thirteen, said, twirling his drum stick around his fingers. "No one's gonna be screaming your name tonight if you play like that."
.
Isaac and I exchanged glances then back at our little brother.
Zac threw his hands in the air. "God! You guys are disgusting!"
I snickered and began to play the opening measure of "Yearbook." My thoughts began to wonder to the previous day...
I had been walking down a nearly desserted sidewalk when I had heard footsteps behind me. Thinking it was a shy fan, I plastered a smile on my face and turned around, only to find that no one was there. Shrugging it off, I lowered my hat further down on my head and continued on my way back to the hotel. I sighed. The Hilton. Fans could always figure out where we are staying due to the fact that our manager insists that we have to stay in the most expensive hotels. Why could we stay at home? I had asked myself.
Our preformance was in Tulsa, our home town, but our manager thought it best that we stay in a hotel.
Suddenly, I heard the footsteps again, only closer, and louder. I picked up speed until I was almost running. I looked back behind me as I ran.
I felt the air rush out of my lungs as I was knocked to the ground. "Ow, crap." I murmured to myself, starting to get up.
"Oh my, God. I am so sorry." a female voice said hastilly. "I'm such a klutz."
"My fault. Here, let me help you up." I bent down and took hold of the girls arm and gently pulled her up. "Sorry about that." I said as I watched her brush herself off, not getting a good look at her face.
"I'm sorry, too. I wasn't watching where I was going." she finally looking.
"Are you oka..." my voice trailed off as I got good look at her face. She had livly brown eyes, long shiny brown hair that framed her heart shaped face, a small nose, and prefect full red lips. She was wearing a short black and white dress that reminded me of something Cindy Brady from the Brady Bunch would wear, and black boots. I shook my head. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine. Are you? I'm so sorry. " she extended her hand. "I'm Katelyn Jackson."
I shook her hand, noticing how soft it was. "I'm Tay...uuhh Jordan."
She stared at me for a few minutes. "Well, I gotta go. I'm sorry about running into you. Nice meeting you though, Jordan." she gave a small wave and headed in the oposite direction as I was going, to my dissapointment. I watched her walk away, mesmerized by her brown hair waving behind her as she started to run.
Suddenly a hand clamped down on my shoulder, causing me to jump. It was Isaac.
He laughed. "Geez, Tay. You need to switch to decafe or something. You're so jumpy."
I scolded at my older brother. "Very funny, Ike. What are you trying to do? Give me a heartattack?"
Isaac appeared to think a minute. "Actually..."
"Tay!"
I accidently hit a wrong chord on the keyboard and cringed. I hadn't noticed I was still playing.
"Good Lord, Tay. We've been talking to you and you haven't even been listening. And you played that song a hole octive higher than it's supposed to be." Zac laughed. "Still thinking about that girl you ran into yesterday?"
"No," I lied. "Why would I be thinking about her? I don't even remember her name."
"Well, I remember. It was Katelyn Jackson." Isaac grinned. "You were saying, or should I say, moaning her name all last night."
I felt myself blush. I had had a dream about her, but there was no moaning involved. Unless...
"Boys," our dad interupted us. They need you in sound check."
"Okay, thanks, Dad." Isaac said, waving his hand in acknowledgement.
Dad nodded and left the room, Zac, Ike, and I close behind.
