Police Officers Indicted
More controversy faces the Clinton County
village of New Vienna.
The village's mayor and three police officers, current and former, have been indicted on criminal charges, accused of covering up details of a fatal police shooting.
Prosecutors say they were part of a cover-up after a New Vienna officer shot and killed a man last year.
A grand jury indicted Mayor Timothy Bentz for tampering with evidence and obstructing justice.
Former Officer Virgil Lanham has pleaded guilty to obstructing official business.
Officer Terry Hardesty faces the same charges, while Officer Jamie Powell has been charged with both tampering with the evidence and obstructing official business.
Investigators say that Officer David Mueller shot and killed Robert Cundiff last year after responding to a domestic violence call.
