SHANIA AND FAITH TOP 50 MOST BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE! (COLUMN FROM COUNTRYSTARS.COM) The big list is out today, and the issue will be out tomorrow (4/28). That's People magazine's "50 Most Beautiful People in the World 2000." Faith Hill and Shania Twain top the list of head-turners chosen by the editors of People for the 11th "Most Beautiful" issue. They're joined by Ashley Judd, Ben Affleck, "Once & Again's" Billy Campbell, Tom Cruise, The Talented Mr. Ripley's Jude Law, Rob Lowe, Hilary Swank, Denzel Washington and the future Mrs. Michael Douglas, Catherine Zeta-Jones. As for non-celebs that grace the pages, look for chef Ming Tsai and financial analyst Alison Deans. This appearance in the "50 Most Beautiful People" list is the first for Shania and the second for Faith who was included back in 1995.

SHE'S AN EQUESTRIENNE! (COLUMN FROM COUNTRYSTARS.COM) Shania Twain owns a half dozen or more horses, a couple of which she flew back and forth between the U.S. and Switzerland during her tour. With that many horses in her stable she was asked if she considers herself a real cowgirl? "No! I'm from Canada. We don't know how to rope. Just because you're a horse person doesn't mean you know anything about cows. I'm into pleasure riding, that's it."

SHANIA ON VH-1! THE 27TH OF APRIL! Shania will have her own original special on VH-1 tommorrow night, the 27th of April!!!! TAPE IT....it is entitled "She's Still The One!: The Shania Twain Videos" It will air at 9 p.m.

SHANIA: OVER THE TOP! Shania Is Over The Top. That's the title of an article in the May 2, 2000 issue of Country Weekly magazine. The article talks about Shania selling 17 million copies of Come On Over. The issue also contains the final ballot for the TNN/Country Weekly awards! You can vote as often as you like, so buy the issue and vote for Shania! Here's what the article had to say: "With a whopping 17 million in U.S. sales, Shania Twain's third album, Come On Over, has been certified by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) as the best-selling Country album ever by any artist, male or female, making Shania the best-selling female solo artist in any genre of music. In achieving the country milestone, Twain surpasses Garth Brooks' No Fences. Twain has released an amazing 10 singles from Come On Over."

It is all over newstands, pick it up!

SHANIA'S CONTRIBUTION TO "OOPS"! Just heard some news regarding Shania and Mutts influence on the new Britney Spears album. They infact contributed to one song on "Oops I Did It Again" and this was all conceived while Britney made a stop at the couple's mansion in Switzerland. Thanks to Jon for this information. Also, this info was released on MTV earlier.

TWAIN DETERMINATION SHOWED EARLY ON! Shania Twain began performing as a grade schooler and showed early on that she had guts and was a real trouper. One famous incident involved a trip a very young Shania had to make by train to another city to perform all by herself. Twain was just 11 or 12 when she discovered that the train she was on was headed to the wrong city. Twain wasn't about to miss her gig, so she asked the conductor to stop the train and let her off so she could catch another train. The conductor first refused to let her off in the middle of the wilderness, but Shania raised such fuss about it, he finally stopped the train and let her off in the middle of nowhere. It took a while, but Shania managed to flag down a train going in the opposite direction and made her performance.

17 MILLION CERTIFIED! (From: Billboard) Shania Twain's "Come On Over" (Mercury) has been certified for sales of 17 million in the U.S., making it the best-selling solo album by a female artist, according to the Recording Industry Association Of America (RIAA). The album is tied as the fifth-best-selling single CD release with the soundtrack to "The Bodyguard," behind titles from the Eagles, Michael Jackson, Led Zeppelin, and Fleetwood Mac. "Come On Over," which has sold over 26 million copies worldwide, according to the label, is at No. 30 on The Billboard 200 this week, after 123 weeks on the chart. The album continues to earn Twain major recognition. Last weekend, she won best songwriter and best country female artist honors at the Juno Awards, which celebrate the best in Canadian music. Twain is nominated in the entertainer of the year and top female vocalist categories for the Academy of Country Music Awards, to be held May 3 in Los Angeles.

OOPS! Just heard word back from a close friend of Britney Spears, and the rumour running around in the Shania circle about Shania and Mutt co-writing Britney's new single from her new same-titled sophmore album "Oops!...I've Done It Again" is FALSE! "Oops!...I've Done It Again" was written by Max Martin (writer collaborating with Shania on new album and writer to the Backstreet Boys and Nysnc.) So I guess we will not be hearing any new Shania written music anytime sooner than her next album! Sorry! Below is the image of Spears' NEW album!

SHANIA CENTRE UNVAILED! Shania Centre Plans Unveiled. The Timmins Press has a great article detailing some of the plans for the new Shania Twain Interpretive Centre to be built in Timmins. Work on the $11-million project has already started and is expected to be completed by July 2001, said Barry Martin of B.H. Martin Consultants. The interpretive centre includes a 4,000-square-foot exhibit space featuring Twain, a 1,200-square-foot travelling exhibit space and a 1,000-square-foot retail area, as well as a 1,500-square-foot foyer area.

SWISS MISS SHANIA TWAIN! (From: Countrycool.com) "Shania Twain is laying low these days in Switzerland writing songs and preparing for two planned album releases in 2000—her next studio album and a Christmas collection. According to a Mercury Nashville spokesperson, Twain hasn't had much contact with Nashville lately, but word is that she is stretching her songwriting efforts to include collaborations with pop giants Diane Warren and Max Martin. Warren is known as the songwriter of numerous pop and country hits for the likes of Celine Dion, Taylor Dayne, Faith Hill/Tim McGraw and Trisha Yearwood, while Martin is known as the producer-songwriter who helped launch Britney Spears last year. According to www.britney-spears.com, Spears is working on her second album, parts of which were done in Switzerland and Sweden with producers Martin and Shania hubby/producer "Mutt" Lange. It's unclear whether or not Spears and Twain have done any vocal collaborating, but the 18-year-old singer behind the 11-times-platinum album Baby One More Time is expected to have a new single out in March and the album to follow in mid-May. Keep coming back to CountryCool.com for more details as they develop."

Here are the articles depicting Shania's popularity:"Is it just us, or is the Shania Twain episode on twice a day? It's on every two hours, jokes Gaspin of the ubiquitous segment, which holds the rerun title at 73 times. Madonna is a close second with 63 airings, while Cher comes in third with a grand total of 34 showings to date." "What are the highest-and lowest-rated episodes? No surprise here: The ever-present Shania Twain BTM prevailed at its premiere with 4.1 million fans. The least popular debut--which pulled on 2.3 million viewers--was for the appropriately titled band Bad Company."

TABLOIDS PUNISH SHANIA ONCE AGAIN! The globe has printed out another article slandering Shania and Mutt's relationship. Just when Shania thought it was safe to show up in public with her beloved husband Mutt, The pic used of them together in London has been moved to the "news" section, the pic is sent to the Globe for some silly and un-true story to be printed about her. It reads:"Walking Her Mutt", Songbird Shania Twain may be the furry one, but she seems to keep hubby Mutt Lange on a short leash when they're out on the town!

SNOWMOBILERS CROSS-COUNTRY PILGRIMS TO SHANIA! Muslims travel to Mecca, Catholics to Rome, Jews to the Wailing Wall, and at least a few snow mobile jockeys make a similar pilgrimage to Timmins, Ontario, Canada to worship at the shrine of Shania. Richard Gervais (ger-vay), a 50-year-old general contractor from Vermont, drove all the way to Timmins on his snowmobile simply because Timmins is the hometown of his favorite country music star, Shania Twain. "I have every tape she ever made in my pick-up at work and there isn't a bad song on any of them," said Gervais who spent the previous evening visiting one of Twain's old stomping grounds, The Maple Leaf Hotel. "I really, really admire this young girl from a very small town because she proved if you have faith and keep at things, you can make things happen for you." Gervais made the trip with five of his buddies. Each winter for the last eight years, he, his brother and a nephew go on a major excursion by snow mobile. Gervais and his party, meanwhile, are on a 3,000 snowmobiling excursion. They left Island Pond, VT on Feb. 7 and were headed to Sudbury before they begin journeying home. Gervais expected to be back in Vermont by this Friday.

SHANIA MOVES INTO HER 100 ROOM MANSION! Country superstar Shania Twain is relaxing in a 100-room mansion.    The singer, who has dominated the country charts with her album "Come On Over," is taking some time away from the spotlight with her producer/husband Mutt Lange, the Daily Mirror reports.    The 18th-Century home is allegedly worth over a million dollars and rests on the banks of Lake Geneva.    The mansion comes complete with a pool, tennis courts and a paddock for her six horses. Her neighbours include Phil Collins and Robert Palmer.    Twain told her handlers that she was taking a year-long break from her fame and is apparently sticking to her story.    "You sometimes see her riding her horse around the lake, but most of the time she keeps to herself," one neighbour said. "She leads a very quiet life."    Twain bought her Swiss home last spring and moved into it in December.

SHEDAISY CREDITS SHANIA FOR HER INSPIRATION! "I don't think the Dixie Chicks have opened any doors for us," explains Kelsi. "The biggest door opener for us has been Shania Twain and her style of country." (GAC: Behind Country)

SHANIA FAN STANDS UP FOR SHANIA IN COUNTRY WEEKLY! A fellow Shania fan stood up for Shania in the latest issue of Country Weekly magazine pronouncing her dismay about the Billboard Awards. Check out the excerpt here: "I was extremely disappointed at the outcome of the Billboard Music Awards. The thing that made me most upset was that Shania wasn't nominated in any country categories! This makes no sense; Come On Over has been No. 1 on the Country Albums chart for much of the year, and has remained in the Top 5 for the entire year. Another thing - 18 million people tuned in to watch her Thanksgiving special. Shania should have been nominated in at least one country category. Shania has brought millions of new listeners to country music. If it wasn't for her, I would not be listening to country and I would have never subscribed to this kind of magazine. She deserves to get credit for what she has done. In the case of the Billboard Music Awards, credit was not given where it was due."

WHEN SHANIA DIDN'T CARE ABOUT SEX! (Thanks: Countrystars.com) According to Shania Twain she went through a period where she didn't care much about sex, until she fell in love with Mutt Lange. That, she says, made her feel more like a woman. "After I married, life changed. I dug deeper into myself, really looked at myself and going wow, you know. I guess I was feeling more like a woman. I think for the very first time I felt the difference. I think up until a year or so before, sex didn't matter. The fact that I was a woman, didn't matter. Now for some reason, it matters. I don't know why. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing. It's almost like a kid, when kids play. Girls and boys, they don't care if they're girls or boys and I've always kind of felt that way. Always. Till I met Mutt. Finally for the very first time, maybe it's because I've met the man in my life that it just fills that slot. I like the difference."

VH-1 COMMENTS ON SHANIA'S HUGE WIN AT THE AMA'S! Shania Twain also took home two awards, celebrating her schizophrenic status. The leather-clad songstress, who often "feels like a woman," was given a gong for Favorite Pop Rock Female and then a second award for being the Favorite Country Female Artist. Lauryn Hill was probably regretting the decision not to record "Your Cheating Heart." Neither Twain or Hill were around to pick up her award.

TWAIN,HILL,BROOKS,SMITH WIN BIG AT AMA'S! Shania Twain, Lauryn Hill, Garth Brooks, and Will Smith were the top winners at the 27th annual American Music Awards, held last night at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.

SHANIA VOTED THE BEST ON BILLBOARD! Come On Over was voted by fans as the Billboard 200 album of the year, earning 29.1% of the total votes. It was also voted the favourite country album, with 67.7% of the votes. Way to go Shania! (Thanks: Shania Filez)

AMA'S A NO SHOW: GRAMMY'S A MAYBE! Shania will not be attending This year's American Music Awards. There is a rule that A performer on the AMA's cannot perform on the Grammy's, But I personally don't beleive that is the reason she is not attending. I think we are seeing SHANIA's so-called HIATUS in the works. She will proably skip the grammy's too. But if she does attend, Im betting she will not perform, since she did last year. It will probably be the Dixie Chicks who represent COUNTRY MUSIC this year.
