"Well Shania, that oughta shut everybody up! You did it, baby!"-Vince Gill

THE TOUR THAT WAS Shania Twain…..a real talent, or the product of in-studio magic by her record-producer husband, Mutt Lange? Go on, admit it. You wondered the same thing. After all, you were probably one of the over 12 million who bought her latest album, “Come On Over,” released in November 1997. You most likely joined over 11 million who purchased 1995’s Grammy-winning release, “The Woman In Me.” And you may even have been curious enough to buy her very first album, released in April 1993, entitled “Shania Twain.” And you listened to them all, over and over and over again. You know the words to all of her hits. Your aerobics class had Shania fever. And you called your favorite radio station requesting her songs. But every Sunday as you searched the entertainment section of the newspaper for an announcement that Shania Twain is coming to a concert arena near you, you were disappointed. You wanted to see her in person. And you wondered….”Why doesn’t Shania tour? Can she REALLY sing?” Obviously her parents thought so. Shania, born Eilleen Regina Edwards August 28, 1965, grew up in a small town about 500 miles north of Toronto, Canada, and was the second of five children. Her mom, Sharon, and stepdad, Jerry, an Ojibway Indian, struggled to keep food on the table, and talented Eilleen’s obvious musical abilities were enthusiasticallynurtured. She was entertaining customers at a local diner at the age of three, and started singing professionally at the ripe young age of eight. However, performing was not something Eilleen particularly enjoyed. “I used to be dragged out of bed at 1:00 in the morning and ....

SHANIA AND MUTT CELEBRATE SIX YEARS OF MUSICAL BLISS! Yesterday marked the sixth wedding anniversary of Shania Twain and Robert John "Mutt" Lange. They had already established a telephone relationship when Mutt Lange was visiting BILLY RAY CYRUS' bus during Fan Fair of '93 and saw Shania walking by. Somebody from BRC's entourage took him outside and introduced them. Of course the marital bliss that followed turned into musical bliss when they began writing and co-producing two of the biggest albums in country music history, The Woman In Me and Come On Over (with Come On Over poised to overtake even Garth Brooks' biggest album, No Fences). Shania's second and third solo albums surpassed every other female country artist in history. Plus no other country singer had released 7 singles from one album (as she did from The Woman In Me, much less the record 10 singles she's now released from Come On Over). We'll never know how far Shania may have gone if she hadn't found Mutt, but there's no doubt that when her drive, writing skill, country background and talent, were added to Lange's world-class reputation as a record producer and writer has turned them into one of the most important musical collaborations of the century. QUEEN OF COUNTRY! Shania Twain's Come On Over has been crowned the best-selling country album of the year. The leggy country star's third album sold 9 million copies this year, according to a Recording Industry Assn. of America's (RIAA) year-end report, handily beating a crowded field of competition. The Twain collection is second only to teen starlet Britney Spears's debut, ...Baby One More Time, for best-selling pop album by a female artist in 1999. Come On Over, which was originally released in late 1997, has now sold 16 million overall, tying it with Brooks's No Fences as the best-selling country album of all time. The accolade tops off a year in which Twain seemed to be everywhere -- awards shows, network television specials, fashion magazine covers, and make-up commercials, not to mention all over the radio airwaves and video channels. And during the Christmas shopping season, her popularity remains massive. Come On Over actually moved up one spot to No. 7 on the current Billboard 200 chart, selling more than 300,000 copies during the week! (Thanks LAUNCH.COM)
1999 ENTERTAINER OF THE YEAR & INTERNATIONAL ACHEIEVMENT AWARD WINNER
"Well Shania, that oughta shut everybody up! You did it, baby!"-Vince Gill

SHANIA ROCKS THE CMA's!After accepting CMA's "Entertainer of the Year" award from Reba McEntire, the last woman to hold the honor, Shania couldn't wait to celebrate. And what was it she wanted more than anything?. . .A Krispy Kreme donut of course. Shania made the rounds with the press and attended Mercury Nashville's official celebration before commandeering a limousine and heading for "one of those great donuts they brought to us everyday when we were recording Come on Over." After the donut stop the superstar danced to the wee hours at a local club with Ty Herndon and members of the pop group 'N Sync. The highlight of the evening for Shania?... "Getting the award from Reba was so special," says Shania. "Her reaction last night and her support throughout the last few years is overwhelming."

SHANIA'S HUGE NIGHT AT THE 1999 CMA's! Going into this night, the night of the 33rd annual Country Music Association Awards you may have said to yourself something to the effect of "Shania can't win with Nashville's grudge against her." Well, you've now been proved wrong! Shania was awarded the CMA's biggest award of the night with ENTERTAINER OF THE YEAR! With the award she beat out Garth Brooks, Tim McGraw, George Strait and the Dixie Chicks. During her acceptance speech she shed a few tears of joy and accomplishment as she thanked her fans and husband among others. Shania came up short in the running for Female Artist of the Year as she was beat out by Martina McBride. Another high point in the show for us fans was her performance of her latest single and title track of her current album, "Come On Over." She opened everyone's eyes with her full pink cowgirl-style outfit complete with long pink coat and pink cowboy hat. After her performance the CMA's host, Vince Gill awarded Shania with the CMA International Artist Achievement award for her outstanding accomplishments in music around the world! The night was one to remember and was appropriately summed up by Vince Gill's statement, "Well, Shania, that oughta shut everybody up. You did it!"

LETTERS FROM TERESA

SHANIA IN WASHINGTON D.C.HOTEL!She's really nice but a little odd. She didn't stay inside the hotel. The band and Crew did but she stayed in the bus right outside. She has alot of security but I was worried. They arrived on Tuesday and the concert was on Wednesday. She invited me and another women I work with to the show. The show was incredible. On Tuesday we had a small incident with some fans hanging out in the lobby of the hotel and really giving the band a hard time. I managed to get rid of them by telling them she went to the show and was returning. In front of 20,000 people she said she was spending Thanksgiving in DC. I helped the tour manager arrange a Thanksgiving dinner for everyone. They were supposed to leave right after dinner and when I arrived at work on Friday she was still there. Shania and Allyson decided to alittle Christmas shopping in Georgetown. When they were finished they left to do their concert in Trenton that night.

It was great. She is so beautiful. It should be illeagal to look that good all the time.

Before you can understand what we said to each other you need to know I work in a very high end hotel. I've met Kevin Cosner, Tom Cruise, Bruce Springstein, TLC, the Rolling Stones etc.. You get the picture. The point is I don't get "Star Struck" I work with very high profile people everyday and with Shania Twain I was a babbling Teenager. I'm a well educated articlate women and when she said hello I couldn't form an intelligent thought much less say anything note worthy. After she drove away to park her bus, I apologized to her tour manager for being such a idiot. I made him promise to tell her. Later that day she called me on the phone and told me she was flattered that for the first time I became "STAR STRUCK". She was very sweet considering I was as professional as I should have been. We only talked for a minute but it was the best minute of my life. We spoke briefly again on Friday after she went shopping as she was leaving. I just wished her well and she left.

That's the Readers Digest version of it.

Alittle of all of that. I thought it was very strange that she didn't come inside the hotel. She explained it well, she said she spend a great deal of money getting the bus the way she wanted and staying on the bus meant she didn't have to pack or worry about being seen if she didn't want to. The for someone who didn't want to be seen, went shopping on the craziest shopping day of the year.

She was really great though
