NEWS FROM HOME: JULY 4, 2009
Where everyday is Friday.

It has not stopped raining here for almost 6 weeks. Perhaps there were 2 or 3 days of wonderful sunshine and we all loved it. Today, rain again. I feel sorry for the graduates and brides. All in all we really cannot complain because the temperature has not reached air conditioning level yet. When it is not raining it is typical spring and good traveling weather.
I am sending you your renewal application with this mailing and would like it very much if you have any anecdotes or tales of your retirement, to please insert them at the bottom when you return it. You cannot believe how many comments I have received about the notes you sent last year. As you know, I had to divide them into two newsletters; and they keep coming. Share them with others if you like, to entice them to join us in the Association.
If you have not gone on to our website(www.angelfire.com/ny5/mcra), by all means do so. Michael is really keeping up with it and there will many pictures there from our luncheons and get-to-gethers as soon as Michael can get them up on the site. See how many of your friends you can recognize.
This mailing includes a flyer for our annual trip to the Belmont Race Track. This is a well received trip where everyone has a good time with friends and the park is a lovely setting for just meandering if one does not gamble. However, everyone tries.
We are changing our meeting day from the fourth Tuesday of the month to the fourth Thursday of the month starting with the September 24, 2009 meeting. This is because the Rose Caracappa Sr. Citizen Center (where we hold our meetings) has lunch served to Seniors on Thursday for a very modest fee. We thought it would be nice for our members to sit at lunch with friends and then come in to attend our meeting. REMEMBER: Thursday, Sept. 24, 2009 at 12 pm for lunch and then our meeting (1:PM). Every other meeting from them on will be on the Fourth Thursday of the month.
We would like to congratulate our new June retirees and we have recently sent them invitations to join us. Our membership is over 416 now and we would certainly like to have everyone who worked at Middle Country in any capacity to be a part of this Asociation. If you know of anyone who is interested, please give them my e-mail address: valdinon@optonline.net.
Marie DiMare is now Marie Johnston and she sends her very best wishes to all her former co-workers with fond memories of her years with Middle Country. Her home address is the same
Sadly, we have received word that our friends John Pepper, Ruth Shapiro and Jeffrey Hillman have passed on. Remember them from the good times. Check our Wall of Remembrance for any that I may have missed in these Newsletters
Also, I would like to remind you that if you would like to add a written memorial to anyone who is presently or could be listed listed on the Wall of Remembrance, please send it to Michael Daly at mteachd@hotmail.com and he will review it for placement next to anyone of our departed members’ names for all to see and read. This is a very meaningful way to remember those with whom we have shared so many good times.
Our trip to Nova Scotia on Sept. 12, 2009 has 14 of us travelling together and we are very excited about it. Of course, there is always room for more and the price has gone down quite a bit since we booked. Need any info, contact me at 631-732-3447.
AS USUAL KEEP IN TOUCH WITH US AND WITH THE ADMINISTRATION BUILDING: 631-285-8046.
