Where everyday is Friday.

I write this letter just after the first day of summer, one of the mot beautiful seasons to occur here on long Island. So far it has been cool and comfortable with the weather being very favorable for all our plants. We had three days of heat but then it broke and has been delightful ever since.

… Our membership drive is moving along very nicely, and most surprisingly, many of you have included anecdotes you want to forward to fellow members. At this point in time I will have to write them in two newsletters. There are too many. I have double-sided this newsletter to see how many I can include in one mailing.

… I am sending you the flyer for our Friday, September 19, 2008 trip to Belmont Race Tack. Read all the particulars there and then send your response to Peggy Loucks, who has once again, offered to take over this task. She has been able to hold to the same price as last year.

… The Middle Country Teachers Association has begun a retiree segment for MCTA. You should have already received a mailing from them (two sheets of colored paper- purple and pink) and they are asking the same amount of dues ($15) that we have been collecting. This can be very confusing to many of our members. Please be aware that we are not connected to the teacher’s association since our membership is made up of ALL retirees of MCCSD: administrators, principals, teachers, custodians transportation workers, secretaries, nurses and superintendents – anyone who ever worked for the district, We hope this does not cause you too much trouble. We are on top of this with MCTA and will keep you informed.

… Our June Luncheon was well attended with 82 people in attendance in all. The Smithtown Water Mill Inn was lovely and we thank Ruth Greenberg for pulling this one off. Anne Bedard had a successful raffle with help from Marlene Lehner and Marily Vacchio and others.

… The updated Directory with its Wall of Remembrance will be ready in September of 2008 along with new membership cards. If you have not yet returned your dues for 2008 – 2009 we can not put your information in the Directory. If you have not returned your dues, I have placed a sticker on the top of this newsletter informing you of that; if there is no sticker, we have received your dues.

… You can see from all the responses how much our members like hearing news about all of you. Cheer up one of our members you recognize by sending a card, note or making a phone call or sending an e-mail. This is what this is all about. We have a lot of good memories.

… I just got to “M” And they are still coming in. I will finish them up in the next newsletter coming with the Directory. Don’t forget to send in your dues so we can have a grand Directory. As you can see from the various anecdotes, some of our members would benefit from contact with an old friend. By all means DO IT. Keep well and KEEP IN TOUCH. Keep those cards and letters coming.

TELL US WHAT IS HAPPENING TO YOU!
Remember to STAY IN TOUCH and please send us any changes of address.
