Spring has sprung here on Long Island and it is beautiful. Daffodil, tulips, forsythia, flowering trees all abound. Weather is balmy and bright. Just waiting for the rain to bring in the full array of summer plantings.
Remember to STAY IN TOUCH and please send us any changes of address.…Our new meeting place at the Rose Caracappa Senior itizens Center, Mount Sinai just wonderful. New and fresh and the personnel are very accommodating. As a matter of fact, the manager of the Center, Michelle Posilico was one of our students. She was graduated from Centereach H.S.
…We were notified by Shirley Willig that her good friend, Marion Norberg, recently celebrated her 90th birthday at a surprise party with her entire family present. Many of you will remember Marion from Unity Drive. She is now living at the Brookhaven Health Care Facility, 801 Gazzola Drive, E. Patchogue, N.Y. 11772.
…This year we will be publishing an updated Membership Directory. Enlosed is a newly formulated RENEWAL APPLICATION, a little early but we feel it is important that we give you sufficient tome to renew membership and be included. Please send us all changes made in the last two years including e-mail address that we do not have for you and please return it ASAP. Remember only paid-up members are listed in the directory and will receive a copy of the 2008 Membership Directory 2010. The Directory is highly coveted and should never be given out to anyone other than members. If you do not wish us to have any of your informtion published,let us know.
…Please review the Wall of Remembrance on our webpage www.angelfire.com/ny5/mcra for any updates we should make. If you know of someone who has passed on within the last two years & they are not listed on the Wall of Remebrance, please let us know. Only with your help can the Wall be up to date.
…Our Summer Luncheon is set for June 12, 2008 at the Watermill Inn; a reservation form is included in this mailing. We generally have approximately 100 people attending and many old friends can meet for a few hours of just good chatting.
…At our December, 2007 meeting, the membership voted to send a check for $150 to a former student of ours who was having difficulty making ends meet around Christmas. Her situation, at the time of her talking with us, was serious. I am Xeroxing her thank you note on the back of this bulletin. I believe many of you will know her if I tell you her maiden name.
…The MC Educational Foundation is having their annual golf outing this year in July 24, 2008. If you are interested in attending as an individual or as a 4-some, please get in touch with me. We have, as usual, purchased a hole for the golf tournament for $250.
… Our annual scholarship will be awarded again this year and the members voted at our April meeting to increase the scholarship from $750 to $1000.
……We are continuing to network with other senior citizen organizations here on L.I. for possible trips. MCRA is working on its own annual trip to the Belmont Race Track (brunch and the races). Keep in touch if you are interested.
…Keep in touch with the Administration Bldg if you have any changes in your address. It is very important that Administration know where you are living.
