The Memorial Event, August 5, 2002
Eric Monroe Woodward mentioned a reminder that this year is the 40th Anniversary of Marilyn's passing and the 20th Anniversary of Marilyn Remembered. It was highly recommended that when you are arriving for the memorial August 5, 2002 please arrive at least 30 minutes early and to note that the parking is limited inside the Park due to construction so please try to park in the lots surrounding Westwood Memorial.
Marilyn Remembered member and Alex Theatre staff member Valerie Weich shared with us the success of the Alex Theatre's presentation of the newly restored print of NO BUSINESS LIKE SHOW BUSINESS. Along with the presentation of this special print the Alex Theatre, located in Glendale, California, hosted a presentation of a Marilyn Monroe exhibit. The items on display included Marilyn Monroe's personal script from the film, generously loaned by Greg Schreiner as well as the gloves she wore in one of the NBLSB scenes on loan by Tony Plant. Valerie contributed to the exhibit with items from her personal collection as did The Marilyn Museum and myself. PLEASE check back on our news page for full photo's and description of this simply elegant affair!
ALEX THEATRE MARILYN EVENT
Now, the main reason we held this months meeting was to celebrate what would have been Marilyn Monroe's 76th Birthday. So, in celebration of this momentous occasion, Greg supplied party favors, food and cake. Here some photos and descriptions from this fabulous party!
The meeting ended at around 7pm. We are looking forward to next month's meeting as Elin Eriksson will be performing her one woman play on Marilyn Monroe called,I LOVE YOU TOO.
