Chapter 2: Mysterious Appearance
Author: Koji Nishiuchi

From a distance, Crystal Tokyo looked like a giant castle more than anything, but once you entered the place you realize it was just a sophisticated hologram; a projection of the castle at the center. The city itself was just like any other, save for it's record no-crime spree. Having special units with the power of the elements patrol the city wasn't the only reason for the city being so safe though, after all, this was Tokyo.

He tried to look normal, though that was a bit hard. His hair was dark black and unruly not only because of his heritage, but because it was never brushed. He wore a purple shirt and pants with a white ruffled collar with a stretchable belt that matched his wooden shoes. How he'd gotten these clothes was still a mystery to him. One night he wore clothes that closely resembled his father's gi, then when he woke up the next morning his clothes looked just like Piccolo's.

Needless to say, he turned a few heads. Gohan tried not to notice, but the constant "Tsk, tsk, I'm glad my boy isn't that filthy." and "Mommy, mommy, look at that boy!" and of course the " Hoo-wee what's that smell!" were getting harder and harder to ignore. Finnaly, he got to a supply store.

Inside it was cool and airconditoined, something he had forgotten. The cool currents brushed across his body, and his sweat multiplied the effect. He was in bliss. It felt so good, he just stood there, reveling in the feel of it. This caused even more stares, but Gohan didn't even notice it now.
"Hey, kid, your blocking traffic." an annoyed looking propeteir said, interuppting his reverie.
Gohan tried to reply, but nothing came out. /Been awhile since I've said anything out loud./ He cleared his throat and tried again, "Uh, sorry." His blood rushed to his cheeks as he got out of the way.
Gohan looked around at the columns of supplies, picking up a few things: pencils, paper, erasers, a calculater, some books, a dozen bars of chocolate and a backpack to hold it all. Satisfied, he brought them to the store owner who gladly rang them up.

"That'll be $75.37 credits" said the properteir, whose nametag said Bill. He held his nose in disgust as he spoke and coughed a little.
"Wha-what!?" Gohan started to break into a more sweat, money had never been a problem. He'd always gone shopping with his dad and the people always said they were honored. Maybe that would work here.
"I'm the son of Goku" Gohan said, hoping it would work.
"You, from the way your dressed and smell it seems more likely your the son of Demon Piccolo." He replied, obviosly not beleiving,
"No, he's just been training me."
"Sure." He probably considered him crazy now. "Listen kid, if you can't pay I"ve got some work you could do, know how to use a broom?"
"Uh, no." /Mom never let me clean house, she enjoyed it too much. Somehow, I think she thought of it as fighting /
"Well, your about to learn." The man shoved a broom into Gohan's hands.
/Great, and to think I prefered civilization over the wild./

/Maybe the city isn't such a bad place,/ Gohan thought as he walked out the store, seeing it through a different perspective,
/I think I'll sightsee a bit before going back. To bad everything costs money. Well, maybe I could visit the castle, I remember going there when I was little, I think./
He waited for the bus, though he just walking along the sidewalk looking behind his back every few seconds. When it finnaly did get there, Gohan started running after the vehicle, trying to keep pace. Finnaly, he was alongside of it. He summoned just enough ki to jump on top and let loose a wild yell that was lost in the noise of the city. He soared above it then landed with a metallic thud. Accidentally, when he landed he caused two foot size dents on the bus's roof.

The experience gave him a rush, and reminded him of the time he'd first fought the Tyranosauros, He'd leapt headfirst with his sword in hand.
His sword! Gohan reached behind his back, but only found his backpack with his supplies plus the soap and shampoo the man had given him.
/I must of left it at home!/ Gohan started to panic, but then his logic kicked in. The other people on the streets didn't carry any weapons, but seemed perfectly safe.
/Calm down Gohan, you'll be fine without it for one day./

As the bus reached near the castle, Gohan prepared himself to jump. He walked to the back to get a good running start, then charged forward, causing more dents as he went. He pushed off when he reached the end and soared with his arms outstretched towards the castle. The momentum from the bus was enough to carry him over the castle walls and well above the castle itself. From this vantage point, he saw just alot of green roofs. The only thing that stood out was the castle's garden, which he'd land in unless he did something drastic.
/Might as well aim for the soft grass,/ he thought with a mid-air shrug.

In the garden, there was a pinkhaired girl and what appeared to be a bobot, a robotic sphere.
/Must be the princess./ Gohan looked closer as he started to descend, the girl seemed to be holding up a sort of small wand or pen. She raised it above her head, and a small black hole appeared.
A BLACK HOLE! Gohan's protective instincts kicked in. He used his ki to force his body down, trying to get to her in time. He saw what he'd do in his mind's eye: Heroically, he'd sweep her off her feet to safety. She'd be so grateful that he'd stay for dinner. The King and Queen would give him jewels, gold, silver. Gohan checked his trajectory, and was horrified to see he was going to hit the hole.
/Some hero I am./ He slammed his feet down on nothing but air, trying to fly back up.
/No! I'll hit it!/ Gohan watched in horror as the flat hole sucked the girl in, not a bit afraid.

A split-second later, he followed after her through the top half. It felt like diving into freezing cold oil. He tried to breathe, but nothing came in. It didn't take long for Gohan to lose consciousness.
