Chapter 1: A New Day
Author: Koji Nishiuchi
Continuty Explaination: Hello, this is my first DBZ fanfic. It takes place
in Gohan's day's of training with Piccolo in preperation for the saijyens. In Sailor Moon continuty, it takes place at the time Renee first went to the
past. Because there are some very small contiuty glitches, you can consider this an alternate universe story if you must.
Dragon Ball Z meets the Sailor Scouts, sorta
The day was bright, too bright for morning. At least that's what Gohan
thought. He walked out of his cave and squinted against the sun, just rising
from the mountain.
/Today is June 5th. That would mean it's...4:30!/
Gohan started his morning routine. First: breakfast. The most important day for a saijyen, except fighting of course. Breakfast consisted of berries
and dried Tyrannosaurs meat. Gohan glanced at his sword, a vital tool for
his survival.. It was very useful: You could cut through flesh and bone in
one swing, plow it into a rock to help you climb, use it to pry open a rock
for bugs when your really hungry, and it never rusted or dulled.
Gohan bit down on the meat, swallowed, then tossed six berries in his
mouth. He repeated this process, occasionally gulping a few swallows of
water from his dynoskin flask. After the berries were gone, he concentrated
on the steak, chomping down like the monster from which the steak once was attached to.
/Good breakfast/
The second part of his day was his bath/swim. Gohan dived into the water,
its cold sliced through his body, awakening him like no amount of food
could. At home, his mom had never even let him bathe alone, let alone in prehistoric reservation lake.
He looked around, starting the third part of his day, not bothering to
resurface. After all, you can stay under along time when you have the lung
capacity of a porpoise. Soon, he found it: a giant xycranthus. An ancient
type of prehistoric fish. It was stringy, salty, and bitter, but it filled his stomach.
Gohan called upon his power, swimming forward so fast nitrogen bubbles
covered his body and left a comet tail of air behind him. He charged up his
fist, waiting till he was just within reach, then, with one swift motion he grabbed it's fin firmly.
Even though Gohan was one-fourth the size of the fish, he never slowed. He
angled himself up toward the surface and burst out of the water, slung the
fish over his head toward his camp, then started to swim back. Tired from the exertion, he had to rest for sevral minutes.
Thousands of feet in the air, in the stratosphere, a green Namek
watched
his young pupil.
/He's getting stronger with each day,/ Piccolo thought,
feeling proud, and angry at the same time. Proud, because Gohan was his
pupil. And angry, because it was a feeling he could never go without
feeling.
/But not fast enough, it's only seven months till the saijyens get
here. I'll have to start training him soon, but he isn't ready yet./
Piccolo sighed internally, to used to showing no emotion to sigh externally,
then flew off to continue his own training.
Unaware, Gohan had skinned the fish, hung it on his fire spit, then settled
in for the worst part of his day, his studies. When he was still at his
house, his mother had made him study around the clock. He was gifted, being
able to do 5th grade math at age four and Trigonometry at the age of seven.
Now that he was trapped in the wilderness, he challenged himself with
problems sketched on the ground with a stick.
/I wish I had a labtop,/ he thought wistfully, /or even just paper
and a
pencil. But the nearest city is Crystal Tokyo and that's at least
twenty
miles away. It'd take forever to get there on foot./ Gohan looked
into the
sky, in time to see Mr. Piccolo flying off.
/Even my eyesight's
sharper
than it was!/ He wondered again why Piccolo had been spying on him. If he
was going to train him, what was he waiting for? Then a thought
occurred to him.
/He can go anywhere across the world, faster than even an airline when
he uses his ki!
Gohan leapt from his cave, running outside, his excitement summoning forth
his power already.
/Why didn't I think of this before? I'll be able to get
supplies in no time./
The thought that he was penniless never occurred to
him. Gohan tensed his leg muscles, focused his energy, and jumped! The
force carried him well above the trees, then over the mountains. Gohan
searched the ground for civilization. In the distance, silhouetted against
the sun, shined the majestic Crystal Tokyo. As the name implied, it was
made of a jewel like substance, which made the sight of it a this angle and
time of day hard to look at.
/Perfect/
Gohan thought about flying, as hard as he could, throwing his arms forward
and yelling, then flapping his arms his arms frantically, trying to will
himself towards the city. No good, he was already starting to fall. Then,
he thought of something else, he thought of getting away from the ground.
He pushed his ki downward.
/Feels like I'm on top of a giant bubble/
This kept him aloft, but little else. His stomach was starting to get queasy
from the immense height. A wind buffeted him, ruining his concentration and sending him twirling
/Maybe I'm not ready for this yet./ Gohan thought as he swallowed bile
rising into his throat. He started falling back to the ground.
/I'll just jump it./
As Gohan descended towards the ground, he started building up his
aura, focusing near his feet. It was a trick he learned from constantly
falling from trees after gathering berries. The air around him seemed to
burn with the speed and his shoes were sending up wisps of smoke.
When he landed the ground slightly shook and a few leaves fell from the
trees. Gohan remembered his first big fall, he had walked funny for hours
after that.
/I've become stronger,/ Gohan thought proudly.
Still, his feet hurt, though it was just a sharp sting. Nonetheless, he
started out towards the city. Simply hopping forward, pushing his feet
against the ground like a trackstar. It was much easier than flying.
Soon, Gohan fell into a rhythm. One foot plowed into the ground, moving him
forward approximately twenty feet a step, then his other. The ground around
him blurred while the city rapidly came closer. Still it took him nearly
half a hour to get there and left him totally exhausted and covered in sweat.
Before him stood the most majestic city ever constructed. It seemed like a
giant emerald castle, which in truth was what the architect had been going
for. It combined the latest technology with medieval concepts, including
King Darian and his wife, Queen Serenity.
