Meg is the eldest daughter of Mme. Giry, employee of the Opera House and keeper of the ghost’s private box.
Her eyes and hair are both black but her complexion is swarthy. Her ‘poor little skin’ is stretched over ‘poor little bones’.
Meg disbelieves the rumors of the Phantom because of her mother and is quick to repeat Mme. Giry’s words on the subject, despite being sworn to secrecy.
The prologue tells us that Meg will eventually become Mme. la Baronne de Castelot-Barbezac.
