Here's a little brief story...on how the Wallflowers started! I don't want to go into too much detail...save yah the reading time! lol
Jakob attend Parson's Art School, in New York City, and dropped out about two weeks later. Phoned his bud in California and decided to start a band. In the beginning, they practiced in the garage and played gigs in the Kabitz Deli room. Held in LA. At first, they named themselves, "The Apples". Later on, during a photography shot, the photographer made a comment saying, "stop standing around like wallflowers." That's how they got the name The Wallflowers. It sounds better than the Apples! :)
The first single released was "Ashes to Ashes" (which wasn't a bad song to me:) Their first self-titled album flopped, only selling about 186,000 copies. Virgin Records let them go after that. Rami Jaffee stayed with Jakob as Rami was a pizza delivery boy, and Jakob a Chinese food deliverer, for support. They recruited new members. Jakob decided to try again. With new members, along with his old time friend, Greg Richling (who toured with the original band, too).
They got a major lable record deal with Interscope Records. Releasing their single, "One Headlight", was a big hit. Their sophomore album, Bringing Down The Horse went multi-platinum! Woo hoo! :D Now, sooner or later, they're gonna release their third album...unknown title. I heard it'll be out during this summer.
Jakob Dylan...lead-singer and gutairist of the band. He played the piano in their first album with the original Wallflowers. Jakob's Hat Shop
