He began playing the drums (actually, he started out on pads) at 2nd grade.
He skipped a grade in grade school, smart little cookie. The second hand smoke is getting to him from the band
The reasons why he played the drums is that "I would beat up my brothers or annoy them, and playing the drums is just the way to"
His father, Jimmy Calire, would take Mario and compete with other drummers. That's how he got his skills.
"I usually find motivators everyday…"--Mario, interview with Modern Drummers

One thing....He is soooo darn cute funny and everything! ARRRGG!
After Cal Arts, he began giving drumming lessons to students.
He plays a four piece drum set. A Slingerland New Standard kit, consisting of an 8x12 rack tom, a 16x16 floor tom, a 16x22 bass drum (played with a Powerstroke3), and a 6.5x14 snare (fitted with a CS Batter); he uses Remo Clear Emperor heads. Mario uses Paiste cymbals, including a Traditional Series 15" highhat, 17" and 18" full crashes, and a 21" full ride.
