This film is an outer space thrill ride starring
Bruce Willis in which our hero is Korben Dallas,
a cab driver in the 23rd century. He grudgingly
helps a mysterious young woman (Milla Jovovich)
from the future who falls through the roof of his
cab.

Apparently she is being sought after by the menacing
Gary Oldman (as a purely evil head of a multinational
corporation). The woman holds the secret to saving
our planet from destruction by a giant ball of
fiery gas which is on a collision course with earth
(sound kind of familiar?).

Korben and "future lady" travel to a remote vacation
world in hopes of finding the five elements that
they need to save the planet.

All hell breaks loose as different factions try
to secure the "elements" for themselves. This
story, overall, was a huge disappointment to me.
I didn't feel empathy for any of the characters,
although Gary Oldman is the perfect bad guy and
delivers as he also did in Lost In Space.

The climax gets bogged down by tired gunfighting
scenes and the ending is predictable. Science
fiction dweebies (like me) would enjoy the specta-
cular vistas and special effects. Fifth Element is
loaded with eye-popping images to keep you engrossed
in the action.

Unfortunately, in my opinion, this does not make up
for the weak characters. Fifth Element is a visual
extravaganza that sci-fi fans should not miss.
