The Overlook Studio The Overlook Studio is the third floor apartment in this one hundred year old landmark. Formerly the New Hampshire Home in the early part of the last century, the house passed through private hands until 1985, when Sandra Rhodes bought it and renovated to its prior glory. Now approaching twenty years of service, the Rhodeside Guest House continues to delight travellers and vacation goers, young and old alike.
First time visitors step up to the wrap around porch of the Guest House and admire its commanding view of the approach to downtown. Soon after settling in, the porch often acts a staging area for the day's activities, and then stands in as a place to relax while all recount the day's events in the evening. The porch comes equipped with a full size gas grill, easy seating, and a table for outdoor meals.
Walking from the porch into the foyer of the house immediately brings to mind the timelessness of New England homes. From the 1950's era console radio on the right to the coat valet and rocking chair on the left, one gets a sense of the place ... tastefully decorated, carefully arranged, with soft carpets underneath your feet and bright white walls reflecting plenty of light shining in from the outside. The Overlook Studio is the second door on the end of the second floor landing.
The first room in The Overlook Studio is the living area. This includes the study, living room and the kitchen. The Overlook Studio affords terrific views of the downtown area and and the Atlantic, all of which can be seen from the living area and bedroom east facing windows. At the top of the stairway is the bathroom (with its own skylight) and on the left is the study area. The study is great for writing a letter and reading a book in the early morning sunlight.
To the left of the study area is the living room and the kitchen. As with the other Rhodeside Guesthouse units, the living room comes equipped with a comfortable sofa, chair, and a TV. The sofa is also a queen sleeper.
A luncheon table and full kitchen is to the right of the living room. Don't be put off by its dimunitive size-- the kitchen features a full size refrigerator and stove, perfect for preparing sizable meals.
To the right of the apartment entrance is the bedroom. It comes equipped with a king bed and plenty of drawer space. Linens and towels are supplied. The Overlook Studio and the Rhodeside Guest House ... your home away from home! The Guest House is only 1 block from the beach and the downtown area, including the famous Goldenrod's.
