The Sink Was Full Of Fishes
"Everything we fight and suffer for,or it would vanish in face of Love,or it is Love"
Chapter 5 Page 9
For a few moments more the following weighting mutism impressed Jill...
a certain melancholia of deep roots seemed to dominate Steve's life then, but it was a blink, and he got back to a smiling mood like no shadows could affect him for real.Maybe he was just playing the phylosophe role.
Ten hours later, the entire first floor of the apartment was painted and the smell of fresh paint was spreading around like a scarf penetrating face and skin.
"I am dead... better than gym, don't you think?"
"Do you like some beer?"
"Yes please... thanx Steve, I'll take it on the sofa if you don't mind.."
The fridge was filled with everything so they took a few sandwiches along the blonde lagers, sitting exhausted on the sofa, but happy and willing to keep talking about studies, life and love...
For some unthinkeable magic Jill found easy to open his heart to a man he was knowing from a bunch of hours...without specific references, making no names, he was able to trace the lines of his life and intimacy to the new friend. Effortlessly.
In one hour then, Steve got elements to define well enough the personality of his guest.
Jill from his side had always perceived a sense of strenght and confidence coming from Steve. He was basing his trust to him on that aura of loyalty and wisdom he could sense in the Italian guy.
The reciprocal esteem kept flowing out at every new sentence between them that day, till they openly admitted it face to face.
Both were surprised at the event. They weren't used to be open with strangers. But the point was they weren't feeling strangers with one another.
"Don't think bad of me... I am not one of those who talk about their shit with everyone's around... let alone someone whom I met two days ago..."
"I get you mate... you little Britty-Boy...I am the same...it's okay, It's really great actually..."
"Britty-Boy's your sys, right? But yeah... I think you're one of the coolest guys I have ever met."
"Awww... Cute Boy!"
"Stop darn! You make me feel homo!"
"Tsk tsk... Troubles with your pennie-mate Jill?"
"I hate you..."
And they bursted in laughes.
"You're absolutely funny and clear Jill... Love this kind of people. You're energetic and lively, you burn!"
"You're gonna learn how much... in years time I hope. Are you scared?"
"Not really: I actually look forward to that. Now... can I test you Sir?"
"You wanna test me? How come?"
"It's just a little game... kind of lucky charm for relationships.No... don't tell me I am crazy... It's just a stupid thing I know but it's like ritual... so far it brought me only great people..."
"But what's that actually?"
"It's a series of questions that I made so far to only three people in my entire life. Those whom answered already have proved themselves very special persons."
"Only three people in so many years? Man you're picky..."
"Selective is the term. So... two males and a female...wanna get yourself in the special list then?"
"Right... Fire out!"
The ten questions were a miscellaneous of serious and absurd branches of life: from drugs abuse to ice cream taste favourized, the synthesys of goliardia and existentialism pleased Jill a lot.
"Italians must be genetically crazy" he said.
"Sure we are. Now.. last two points: have you ever been in love? And would you like to fall in love if you haven't been yet?"
"Yes, I am in love. I have been and I forever will be in love. and...you know, I am not talkin about Kass."
It was clear he wasn't.Steve got fascinated observing Jill's face and intensity while pronouncing the sentence: he was lookin so serene, but at the same time he was lookin as the fiercest man ever. He must have been truly in deep love.
