SEPTEMBER 23rd, 2007
GOTCHA DAY!

Four hours after our 30-hour plane journey, we received Lola in the hotel lobby at about 4:30 pm local time (Sunday about 4:30 am for most of the folks reading this).

We were fortunate to meet her foster parents, a very nice older couple who only care for special needs kids. Lola was very teary and a bit scared...

... but luckily, we are both excellent baby whisperers and soon placed Lola in a calm state of mind using stacking cups...

... Dora books and Robert making funny faces.

Lola is TINY - only about 17 pounds and about 28 inches - all of which is completely adorable. She is very smart and very interactive and seems pre-programmed to be curious about EVERYTHING. She is very strong-willed and loves to play with the phone - making her a perfect match for Erin!

She eats everything in sight - veggies, noodles, meat, cookies, etc - which we hope will inspire our boys to expand their horizons past chicken nuggets and fries.

We enjoyed a full night's sleep and look forward to navigating Chinese government bureaucracy tomorrow.

“Real elation is when you feel you could
touch a star without standing on tiptoe.”
