If Neopia is a perfect world, there would be no need for this section. But sadly, it is not. It has been infested with people who has nothing to do better with their time but to scam/hack kids from their imaginary money. Read on to smarten up young one!

  1. IF IT SOUNDS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE, IT PROBABLY IS!

  2. Neopets Staff will NEVER ask for your password. Check help pages and they are ABSOLUTELY very clear on this.

  3. There is ablsolutely no software you can download to get a million NP's. If at all, its just a software that allows them to get into your account and have you end up with all those zero's in the million NP you were promised to get.

  4. Never give items to anyone that promises to give you a secret to gaining lots of NP, or how to buy items from the hidden tower at 1NP. This is not possible! Refer to rule one if you're conflicted.

  5. Ever seen those lookups with a whole litany of a paragraph saying they know a secret that can get your lots of np and money, stressing it's not a scam, all you have to do is send them a codestone, paintbrush, faerie or any other valuable item? Here's their secret... put the same message in your lookup, and get rich off naive little children who's too lazy to play games like them, or you, if you fall for it.

  6. If you happen to be shopping along at the shop wiz one day and come across a faerie or a paint brush at a ridiculous price, and you jump in to buy that item, and suddenly as you click on it, you are led to a sign-in page... STOP! You are asking to be hacked if you do enter your name and password. To be sure, just logout and log back in again.(Always check the URL address when youre entering your information. Make sure you're logging into neopets and not some other fake login page).

  7. Ever hear the saying, "scratch my back and I'll scratch yours"? Well, sometimes, they won't! So if anyone tells you to buy from their shop (usually junk items at horribly high prices), and they will buy from yours, tell them you're better off buying YOUR items from your shop. Fall for this and you will end up with a ten-thousand dollar pile of sludge. Yay!

  8. Someone's selling a pet for a few thousand bucks... its the baby Uni you've always wanted. He's told you to give him the items and money and he will message you when the pets in the pound. Uhhh... so what will happen if someone else adopts it? Well, your loss! Chances are too, he will never give it up for adoption anyways. Remember that buying pets aren't allowed and once a pet is in the pound, it's free game for everyone. Kudos to you if you fall for this one! Refer to rule one!

  9. Neositters? You are never rich enough to afford one because most likely, you'll end up poor after they get into your account. Just so you'd know, your pet will NEVER die, even if you dont feed them for a year. But I doubt you'd be away that long, right?

  10. If you've already been duped, bang your head on the wall once and report them to neopets staff immediately. Hopefully, this one bad experience will tell you to always trust rule one!

  11. When buying items for more that 600K... do not do it in the trading post. You are only allowed a maximum of 600K when trading NP for an item. I have heard of someone who was trying to buy a snowickle for 2.55M he bid about 500K on the petpet and 500K each on four other junk bids. The seller accepted bid for the junk item first and then didnt accept the trade of the petpet. So be smart... and put it in a neofriends only auction. :)

  12. When browsing trades, you might come across more scammers trying to feed off unsuspecting players. These are smart ones who put up "Woo Woo Grubs", "Wriggling Grubs" and other icky insect like food or item out there, up for trade. Then they will be asking for thousands of NP and saying its a PETPET. (You don't want your pets playing with their food now, dont you?)
