Sign-Ups Still Coming In Posted

For those of you in the Tournament: GET GOING!!! I have
received some more sign-ups and they are now posted in the
Tournament Bracket. I have received only 1 tournament
confirmation of the ones I have sent out. If you don't
respond to the confirmation soon, then you will be
booted. If you haven't gotten a confirmation letter,
email me ASAP and that will be good enough for me ;). If
you have signed-up after the first round of letters I sent
out, then yours will be coming shortly. Remember: you
can use email or the Forums to arrange battle times.
A few more things: DON'T FORGET TO VOTE FOR
US IN THE C&C TOP 200!!! WE HAVE FALLEN OUT OF THE TOP
10!!!! I have also made a few changes to the Breaking
News Ticker and you may have noticed our hit counter has gone
down quite significantly. That is because the counter
was set to count all hits, and it has now been set to count
unique hits. So what you now see is the number of unique
hits the site has had since January 1, 2001, when The Barracks
version 2.0 was created. |

Begins, Still Time to Sign-Up Posted

Good news: I have received enough sign-ups for the
tournament to let it start.
Bad news: There are still slots open.
Let's fill them up so we can get a winner in the tournament.
Just a reminder of some of the rules and common
sense things: The tournament has a single elimination
format, however, each round is in the best of three
format. Please view the rules for settings rules. You can now email your opponent by clicking on his name as I
have now posted names in the Tournament Bracket. You can
view it by clicking the Current Tournaments link, listed under
Tournaments. After you and your opponent have a battle
arranged, then you BOTH need to email me with the
results. If you do not send the results then the battle
will not count. But if you loose and don't report don't
think you can get off the hook. I will give you a lose
if I get only one report and it is from the winner. If I
get two reports saying that both sides won, then I don't count
it. If there is a D/C, then it is a wash unless one of
the players is obviously toasting the other player. In
the event of a D/C: I want screenshots if you think you
should get a win instead of a wash. (REMEMBER: If you
don't have the software downloaded to take screenshots, you
can get it off our site. It is in the Essentials area of
the Files section.) If you are unable to arrange a
battle with your opponent and they are making no attempt,
please email me stating this and copies of the emails you
sent. You can also attempt to arrange battles in the
forums. I have sent email confirmations to everyone in
the tournament. If you don't respond within a week from
when this article is posted, then YOU ARE OUT!!! This is
just a brief overview of all the rules, so make sure that you
check them out before you start fighting. GOOD LUCK

I have now received two more sign-ups and due to some problems
a third is being "processed", but should be worked
out shortly. Here is the list of people currently in the
tournament:

There are still plenty of slots open and if
you want to sign-up you can. Once I have four sign-ups I
will set up the brackets and the battles can commence. GOOD LUCK COMMANDERS!!!
And don't forget to vote for us in the TOP
200. We are currently #6 on the list, so don't leave the
Barracks before you vote for us on the Top 200!!! |

So you guys know, no one on the list below (posted about a
week ago has emailed me to let me know that you are still in
the tournament. I did however receive one sign-up and
that person is now the only person in the tournament. The list (short though it may be) is as follows:

In other news I received news a few days ago
from VTed at Westwood on the shut down of the C&C GOLD
letter. It is as follows:
Yes,
it is permanent. We didn’t have enough people playing
on the ladder to keep it up and running. We do
plan to keep the game servers up and the patches available for
fans.
As
for playing elsewhere, I’m not sure. I think you
can play C&C Gold through GameSpy, through their network
tcp/ip layer for older games, but I hear it doesn’t work as
well.

Unfortunately for us, this means that the few
of us that are left get the shaft for a game that is
coordinated by Westwood. I personally, have not yet
gotten to go to GameSpy and see if they have support. If
you have managed to go there, please let me know if they do
have support, or post it in our forums (which are rather dead,
it's time to start using them folks) or both. |

Just to let you guys all know, I'm starting another tournament
here at The Barracks. I have managed to find a little
extra time for The Barracks and will be able to manage a tournament
finally. So here's the deal. I already have enough
sign-ups to make my head spin, so listed below are all the
people that have signed up that I have a record of. If
you still can play in the tournament please let me know.
If you do not, I will eliminate you from this tournament and
you will have to re-sign up and hope a slot is open. I
will be posting the bracket in a week or so, which should be
ample time for you to get back to me. Here's the list:

we can get to number 1.

Month, New Things, New News Posted

Hey to all you C&C fans out there. It's a new month
here at the Barracks and that will mean a few new things,
which of course means new news. Ojomym is officially on
leave until the Summer of 2003 and I will be taking over
Web-Master duties for the foreseeable future. Ojo may be
able to make a posting, but personal reasons make his time for
the Barracks an overly rare commodity. So if you have
any news for the Barracks please send it to me, as I will be
handling all duties for the time being.
In other news, as we have said, we have planned
to move our site to a new domain. I hope that I will be
able to make time to manage that. That move is on the
back burner for now however.
I have also archived last month's news and posted
some new files in the Media area of the Files section of the
site. We are also experiencing some trouble with
the C&C Top 200 which I hope to have cleared up soon.
As I'm sure you have all heard, the C&C Ladder has
been shut down. I am planning on getting some info on
why they took it down, as it seems that it will not be
returning. I also plan on starting up a new tournament
for the site soon as the Westwood Ladder has been shut
down. I have received enough sign-ups for us to have
one. |
