• Appearance: The Fungee Drone is humanoid and female, with a slight tinge of reptile in her apparance. She has leaf-green skin, slightly-lighter green hair, and pupilless yellow eyeslits. She has a rather fair face, though a bit too streamlined to be human, and a wide mouth decorated with two long rows of thornlike teeth (or teethlike thorns). She's dressed out of convenience in a simple t-shirt and a pair of jeans, both ripped and smudged with dirt. Her feet ends in claws that tend to burrow and grow roots when she stands still for too long, and her hands have long, clawed digits. During fights, her arms are adorned by long rows of razor-sharp thorns, and she's capable of manifesting long prehensile vines from her body.

• Bio: Night time, at an abandoned farm. A star lights up on the sky, and falls. A few minutes later, a whine in the air can be heard, growing louder... before a meteor crashes violently in the field. As the dust slowly settles, the meteor cracks slightly, and a warm green glow shines out. Slowly, thin vines snake out of the rock and burrow into the ground... Fungee has arrived.

  Fungee is a sentient alien plant-creature from a distant world. The 'meteor' is actually a kind of spacecraft, though launching it is a doozy. While originally completely native to her own species (of which she hasn't seen in millenia), she has come into contact with a few flesh-species, which has left her mind a bit changed. Fungee is looking for a home on a world where she can grow in peace and solitude, but finds something close to enjoyment in travelling around and learning about the rest of the universe... especially about these bizarre flesh creatures that seem to be everywhere. Aren't they just so curious?

  In her natural form, Fungee resembles nothing so much as a great and complex growth of vines. Naturally, this makes interaction with the flesh creatures difficult. Instead, she's taken a few hints and developed a method for growing self-ambulatory drones in the form of the main superior species; this drone shares all mental processes with the main growth, and is, in Fungee's opinion, just another extension of her existence. She rarely makes more than one drone at a time.

  Fungee (drone) is incapable of digesting solid food (the mouth is more for appearance than anything, though the teeth has come in handy in battles), but she can absorb water and minerals through her skin, and appreciates all the sunlight she can get. Even artificial will do. She's also incapable of normal speech; instead, she possesses a form of telepathy, broadcasting her thoughts into the minds of people around her (who perceive it as a tinny, unnatural sound), and skim other peoples' minds for their thoughts as they say them. With a bit of effort she can probe slightly deeper into someone's mind, revealing their current emotions and intentions (mainly to see if someone is hostile), and even take control of lesser animals, like birds and rats. She requires physical contact with more intelligent subjects if she's to unearth anything more than vague suggestions.

  She isn't certain where she picked up a female identity, but finds it to be helpful in the long run. (Physically, the main growth is asexual, and the drone is neuter.)

• Intro: Fungee has crashed on the world the tournament is hosted on (accident or intent? She won't tell). Finding out about the tournament, she intends to use it to find the homeworld she's looking for.

• Stage: The Vine Farm: A farmyard completely overrun with vines, pods, leafs and other stuff. A vine-covered barn with a tractor stands in the background, and the meteor is embedded halfway into the ground on Fungee's side of the screen. If the vines are damaged too much, Fungee will get _very_ mad.

  Alternate Stage: When fighting on an opponent's stage, it will look just like it should, but there will be lots of vines everywhere. They usually lie still, but can wiggle and move about at times.

• Weapons: Sharp claws and thorns. Psychic powers. Vines.

• Special Skills:

  • Unique physiology: Her drone body has no vital organs as such; as long as all the parts hang together well enough, she can operate normally. She's also able to grow thorns, vines, and pods from herself.

  • Multiple bodies: If her drone body is damaged beyond functionality, she can just grow another. Hence, she's not afraid to 'die', and will therefore not show any fear of an opponent.

  • Psychic powers: Mainly used for communication, but they can do wonders in a tight situation.

  • Mimic: Fungee can, after observing a species over just a short time period, develop a mind pattern that closely matches that species; she learns how they think and uses this to help interaction.

• Special Resources:

  • Main Fungee growth: Fungee's true self resides somewhere below the ground, gathering nutrients and making preparations. It almost always has its vines in the stage she's fighting in; in arenas the vines can't reach, Fungee will be at a severe disadvantage.

• Openings:

  • 1st Round: The opponent enters the arena, but Fungee isn't there; instead, there's a big, pulsating pod attached to one of the vines in her place. It bursts open delicately, revealing Fungee lying in a fetal position with her eyes closed. She opens her eyes, stands up, and shakes out her hair, before facing the opponent. ">Let's fight, meat-creature.<" Drops into a crouching stance, claws held ready.

  • Standard: Sits crouching on one of the vines. After the opponent's done their intro, she leaps off, taking a stance.

  • Alternate: Opponent enters, but Fungee isn't around. Suddenly a nearby nest of vines twist and move aside, and Fungee leaps out, grinning wildly. ">Ready to battle, Meat?<"

  • Alternate, 15%: Fungee: ">Hello, Meat.<"
    Opponent: "My name... in not Meat!"

  • Alternate, 15%: Opponent: {Accusation of Fungee being a horrible monster}
    Fungee: ">You think I'M horrible? Have you taken a look at yourself? All that flesh and tissue floating around... how can you even keep yourself together? Eww...<"

  • Vs. Skribulous: Skrib looks at Fungee, smiles and goes "Mmmm... salad." Fungee stares at him and then shakes her head. ">Don't be stupid. I'm anything but edible.<"

• Taunts:

  • Sends a vine through the ground by the opponent's feet and trips them. Points and laughs.

  • Spits a blob of vegetable matter at the opponent. Wiggles a long tongue at the opponent when they're annoyed.

• Finishing Poses:

  • Standard: Fungee poses vainly for the camera, then whips her hair back, uproots her feet, and walk off.
  • Alternate: Grins and poses with her arms stretched out and legs spread. Vines shoot up from the ground, latch around her neck, and quickly drag her into the ground, which closes up after her departure.

  • Draw: Fungee looks oddly at the timer, having trouble understanding what it's there for.

  • Time Over: Fungee clutches her face and sinks to her knees in defeat. Vines shoot up from the ground and drag her down.

  • Perfect: Fungee just shakes her head and walks off. A vine thwaps the opponent's prone form once.

  • Desperation: Fungee tries to remain standing, shambling back and forth, but finally falls to her knees. Another drone, identical but fully healthy, emerges from the ground, while the first one collapses lifelessly. The second one shakes her head and walks off, while the vines claim the remains of the first one.

  • Ultimate: Fungee howls telepathically, then collapses and transforms back to her normal form. Fade out with her lying on her knees.

  • Flash Finisher: See end of the move.

• Character Strategy: Despite her strange personality, Fungee is actually a rather skilled and balanced fighter. She can absorb a lot of damage and can dish out even more. She relies mainly on close-range fighting, only sometimes using her other powers. Due to the fact that she's just another disposable drone in a line of many, she's quite fearless in the face of any threat. This can be both an advantage and a disadvantage.

• Attacks:

  • Launcher:

    • Dandelion Burst: The ground under the opponent explodes, sending him/her into the air.

  • Command Normals:

    • Razorleaf Lunge: Fungee lunges across the opponent, cutting them with the thorns on her arms.

    • Thorn Burrow: An ordinary strike, save for that she has her claws pointed forward, trying to cut the opponent.

  • Throws:

    • Strangle Vine: Fungee puts one of her hands under the opponent's chin, wraps a vine around his/her neck for better grip, and then tosses the hapless victim across the area. 5%

    • Orchid Blossom: Fungee grapples the opponent over the back with one arm, punks them with her free arm, then drops them and knees the victim in the chest, before letting them fall to the ground. 8%

  • Specials:

    • Flytrap: [Anticipation counter] Fungee raises and pulls back her arms a little, and small vines grows out of her sides. If the opponent attempts a close attack, the vines will shoot out with lightning speed, snaring and crushing the opponent, before tossing them away. The tentacles then retract. 10%

    • Snapdragon: Fungee leaps at the opponent and grapples them, wrapping her arms and legs around them, then grows several large sharp thorns on her legs and arms, which dig into the opponent's flesh. 15%

    • Pollen Count: Fungee cups her hands around her mouth and blows a small cloud of pollen at the opponent, surprising and sometimes making him/her stop and cough. Can be used to interrupt opponents' moves. 2%

    • Hail of Thorns: Fungee loosens her teeth and spits them at the opponent at high velocity. 9-15% depending on how many thorns hits. Causes 3% if blocked.

    • Whipping Weeds: A pair of long vines shoot out of Fungee's shoulders and gives the opponent several lashes. 10%

    • Burrowing Seeds: A number of vines burst from the ground and drags Fungee underground. (She's vulnerable for a split second.) A few seconds later, the ground at any location on the screen explodes in a shower of dirt (concrete, wood, what have you), and Fungee leaps out, claws drawn. If she chooses to reappear where the opponent stands, they'll then take 5% damage and get knocked over.

    • Autumn Leaves: A classic leaping spin kick; Fungee leaps forward, then spins around with her leg extended, kicking the opponent. Except her foot has sharp claws at the end. 10%

    • Blades of Grass: Fungee claws the opponent with several up- and downwards claw slashes, rapidly. 8%

  • Supers:

    • Mental Feedback Loop: Focusing her telepathic powers, Fungee delivers a sharp blow to the opponent's psyche, overloading their brains with sensations, stunning them and causing disorientation. There's a blast of white around the opponent's head as the attack strikes home. 25%.

    • Cerebral Siphon: Fungee latches on to te opponent and plants her hands on their temples. Small vines shoot out and burrow into their head, siphoning out some of their fighting skills, as well as causing 5% damage. For the remainder of the fight, Fungee will be able to use three of the opponent's Specials (chosen at random), and the opponent will be incapable of using those moves for the same duration. She's incapable of siphoning moves that relies on powers or resources that she doesn't have or can't duplicate (Reality warping, chaos energy, the like).

    • Food For Thought: A VERY unpleasant grapple... Fungee grabs the opponent and brings down her maw over them, actually swallowing their head whole (yes, she's stretchy.) and clamping her teeth shut around their neck. She then proceeds to harshly strike and cut the hapless one, who has to block blindly. After a sound thrashing, she spits out the victimised opponent. 28%

  • Desperation:

    • Final Embrace: The timer starts counting down from five, while Fungee starts pulsating softly in pace with the timer. She then attempts to grapple the opponent and hold him/her close to herself. When the counter reaches zero, her abdomen explodes messily, causing 50% damage to the opponent; if the opponent is closer to her than half the length of the stage, he/she will receive 20-40% damage, depending on the distance. Should the opponent still be conscious after the explosion, Fungee will be far too injured to fight back.

  • Ultimate Attack/Summon:

    • Peace of Meat: Fungee drops to one knee and wraps her arms around her head, while roots shoot into the ground. She begins to glow green, first softly, then with increasing power. (Should the opponent attack during the transformation, she will take only a fraction of the damage. The transformation is not interruptable.) Her body grows, lengthening and building up (think Crinos or Slayer and you should get a good picture) Her arms and legs are now much more muscular, her thorns much bigger, and she appears more like a slavering monster than a humanoid, all tooth and muscle. All her physical attacks are now boosted by 50% and her defense increases (taking only 60% of normal physical damage), although her speed and accuracy decreases slightly. She will now mainly rely on direct physical moves.

  • Flash Finisher:

    • Sleep In The Cold Earth: Several vines shoot out of the ground under the opponent, wrapping themselves around his/her legs, arms, torso, or anything they can get hold of, and pin the opponent to the ground. Fungee casually walks over to the opponent, bends down and plants a kiss on the victim's lips, before he/she is dragged into the ground.

  • Team Helper:Fungee performs a [Whipping Weeds] on the opponent from behind.

  • Team Supers: N/A

• Glitches:

  • Bleeds green juices. Not much of a glitch, but it should be noted.

  • Vs. Skribulous: Should the dragon manage to take a bite out of Fungee, he'll first grin and savor the flavor. Then he'll look surprised, turn several shades of funny colors, before running offstage and vomiting noisily. Fungee just crosses her arms while waiting for him to return, and mutters to no one in particular ">Ever heard of natural defenses, meat?<"

• Motivations:

  Fungee wants to find a homeworld to breed and grow on; it's written into her genetic pattern. In the mean time, she's perfectly content with travelling, and is rather curious about other life forms and how they work. She actively attempts to learn from other life forms, adapting their advantages to perfect herself. Her main driving urge is to survive, though; a lot of life forms seem to have a xenophobic hatred for her.

• How Fungee talks:

  Fungee is incapable of normal speech, since she lacks a voice box. Instead, she uses telepathy. One benefit of this is that she's capable of hearing anything a nearby person says, no matter how they whisper. A disadvantage of this, however, is that she can't hear anything from a speaker or PA system, since those doesn't think. She's also capable of understanding any language a person speaks, as she actually intercepts the thought before it's been shaped by a language. This works both ways. She's not able to read deeper thoughts unless she establishes physical contact, but she can with effort pick up 'flavors'. When 'speaking', her 'voice' sounds like it's coming from the other end of a metal tube. She sounds fairly normal in her choice of words, though she has little understanding of basic human concepts, and isn't overly discrete about her ignorance. (">Have lunch with you? Yes, I'd like this 'lunch'. Tell me more about the 'lunch'.<") She prefers to let others talk, telling their stories and opinions rather than talking herself.

• How Fungee acts:

  Curious and aloof, Fungee watches everything catching her interest with curiosity. While the main growth rests and grows its vines, the drone is continuously out and about, exploring and learning. She's somewhat repulsed by flesh-based things, but at the same time finds it very curious. She enjoys being in the presence of one or a few others, but feels threatened while in a bigger crowd. She's actually a benevolent creature, but past experiences has taught her to be careful; she doesn't like to hurt others, but will do so if needs be. Of course, the tournament is different; fighting is standard.
