Highlands overcame mistakes and lost opportunities to defeat Frederick Douglass 21-20 in two overtimes. Highlands lost two fumbles, had a pass intercepted and missed four field goal attempts with two of them being blocked. The score was tied 7-7 at the end of regulation. Highlands took the ball first in overtime and scored on a Tayden Lorenzen 1 yard run but the two point conversion attempt failed leaving the door open for Frederick Douglass. Terry Cayson scored on a 10 yard pass from Brady Ross but the conversion kick was blocked leaving the score at 13-13 and moving to a second overtime. Frederick Douglass got the ball first and scored on a 3 yard run by Dakari Talbert and Ron’Rekus Barber added the conversion kick to give the Broncos a 14-7 lead. However the Bluebirds were not done as Tayden Lorenzen scored on a 4 yard run and then added a conversion run to give Highlands a 21-20 victory.

Highlands recorded 19 first downs and 306 yards of total offense. The Bluebirds were penalized six times for 55 yards, lost two fumbles, and had a pass intercepted. Frederick Douglass recorded six first downs and 128 yards of total offense. The Broncos were penalized 10 times for 65 yards.

Gabe Williams led Highlands’ ground game with 84 yards on 18 carries. Tayden Lorenzen carried the ball 14 times for 47 yards and two touchdowns. Rio Litmer completed 13 of 18 passes for 129 yards and one touchdown with one interception. Cale Harris caught eight passes for 88 yards and a touchdown. Gabe Williams added two receptions for 18 yards. Tayden Lorenzen caught two passes for 12 yards. Gabe Williams returned one kickoff for 23 yards. Andrew Lucas returned one kickoff for 19 yards. Gabe Williams led the defense with two solo and five assisted tackles. Connor Carnohan added eight assisted tackles. Max Merz recorded two solo and three assisted tackles.

Dakari Talbert led Frederick Douglass’ ground game with 69 yards and a touchdown on 21 carries. Carter Ross carried the ball three times for 38 yards and a touchdown. Brady Ross completed five of 11 passes for 48 yards and a touchdown. DeAndre Clay caught three passes for 39 yards. Terry Cayson added a 10 yard touchdown pass. Kane Pointer returned two kickoffs for 79 yards with a long return of 67 yards. Tacori Fields led the defense with four solo and 20 assisted tackles and recovered a fumble. Thurman Wade added eight solo and three assisted tackles with one of his tackles resulting in a four yard loss. Nelson Irakiza recorded three solo and seven assisted tackles. Jimmy Hooks chipped in with four solo and two assisted tackles with one of his tackles resulting in a two yard loss. Cionne Conn recorded three solo and three assisted tackles and intercepted a pass he returned four yards. Stoney Mack added one solo and two assisted tackles and recovered a fumble.

Madison Central shut out Conner tonight by the score of 43-0. The Indians opened the game with a 90 yard kickoff return by Jeff Hairston and never looked back. Madison Central recorded 13 first downs and 193 yards of total offense. The Indians were penalized three times for 35 yards and lost one fumble. Conner recorded six first downs and 63 yards of total offense. The Cougars lost three fumbles and had one pass intercepted.

Corinthian Barnes led the Madison Central ground game with 73 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries. Carson Herbst carried the ball six times for 51 yards and two touchdowns. Carson Herbst was zero of four in the passing department. Jeff Hairston returned a kickoff for 90 yards and a touchdown. Peyton Guilbault was five of five in extra point attempts, punted twice for a 36.5 average, and kicked off seven times for a 58.1 average with three touch backs. Brady Reeder led the defense with two solo and three assisted tackles with 1.5 of his tackles resulting in losses totaling four yards. Liam Dailey added three solo and one assisted tackles with two of his tackles resulting in losses totaling 10 yards. Jeff Hairston recorded two solo and two assisted tackles. Derek McElwee added four assisted tackles and recovered a fumble for a touchdown. Karter Heyer recovered a fumble and William Snell intercepted a pass he returned seven yards.

Cordion Abernathy led Conner’s ground game with two yards on eight carries. Grayson Montgomery completed six of 17 passes for 65 yards with one interception. Abraham Koller caught two passes for 30 yards. Aydin Depenbrock added 23 yards on two receptions. Shepherd Dozier returned three kickoffs for 85 yards with a long return of 39 yards and returned one punt for six yards. Cordion Abernathy returned one kickoff for 18 yards. Henry Krallman led the defense with one solo and five assisted tackles. Ethan Estvanko added three solo and two assisted tackles with two of his tackles resulting in losses totaling seven yards. Tates Creek trailed 29-26 at halftime but scored 40 unanswered in the second half to earn a 66-29 victory over Mercer County. This game could be described in several ways: “basketball on grass”, “fast break football”, “arcade football” but that still would not describe tonight. The two teams combined for 42 points in the first quarter, Tates Creek scoring 40 points after the intermission, back to back kickoff returns for touchdowns, Mercer County’s QB Cornelius Mapp throwing a pass, being tipped at the line of scrimmage, Mapp catches his own pass and scores a 12 yard touchdown pass from Mapp to Mapp, you get the idea, it was that type of night.

Tates Creek recorded 22 first downs and 476 yards of total offense. The Commodores were penalized 16 times for 179 yards. Mercer County recorded 15 first downs and 192 yards of total offense. The Titans were penalized 13 times for 81 yards and had three passes intercepted.

TayTay Allen led Tates Creek’s ground game with 112 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries. BJ Evans carried the ball 12 times for 69 yards and two touchdowns. Darnell Burnside completed 13 of 20 passes for 264 yards and five touchdowns. Triston Taylor caught seven passes for 93 yards. Luke Cooper added five receptions for 104 yards and two touchdowns. JT Cooper recorded three receptions for 73 yards and three touchdowns. Triston Taylor returned one kickoff for 85 yards and a touchdown. JT Cooper and Luke Cooper each returned one kickoff for 44 and 19 yards respectively. Shawn Taylor led the defense with three solo and four assisted tackles. DVaughn Flowers added four solo and one assisted tackles with one of his tackles resulting in a three yard loss and scored on a 45 yard interception return. Bryson Beatty also recorded four solo and one assisted tackles. Rekus Greer chipped in with two solo and three assisted tackles with one of his tackles resulting in a six yard loss. Lazarey Warren intercepted a pass he returned 23 yards. Nazir Sanford also intercepted a pass.

Cohen Sanford led Mercer County’s ground game with 29 yards an da touchdown on 10 carries. Cornelius Mapp carried the ball four times for 16 yards. Cornelius Mapp completed 14 of 29 passes for 138 yards and two touchdowns with three interceptions. Jacob Sanford caught six passes for 56 yards and a touchdown. Cohen Sanford added two receptions for 21 yards. Jayden Sailor caught one pass for 44 yards. Cornelius Mapp caught a 12 yard touchdown pass. Jayden Sailor returned three kickoffs for 108 yards including an 88 yard return for a touchdown. Cannon Buchan returned one kickoff for 46 yards. Michael Cox returned two kickoffs for 22 yards with a long return of 19 yards. Torian Bess led the defense with four solo and three assisted tackles. Cohen Sanford added two solo and six assisted tackles with two of his tackles resulting in losses totaling seven yards. Jayden Sailor recorded three solo and two assisted tackles. Michael Cox chipped in with two solo and three assisted tackles.

Scott County dominated play tonight in a 42-6 over George Rogers Clark led by Timmy Emongo’s four touchdown performance. Scott County recorded 18 first downs and 412 yards of total offense. The Cardinals were penalized six times for 50 yards. George Rogers Clark recorded 13 first downs and 245 yards of total offense. The Cardinals were penalized six times for 61 yards, lost a fumble, and had two passes intercepted.

Skyler Way led Scott County’s ground game with 163 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries. Timmy Emongo carried the ball 14 times for 104 yards and three touchdowns. Jayden Garrett added 46 yards and a touchdown on two carries. Charlie Ellison completed two of four passes for 42 yards and a touchdown. Timmy Emongo caught a 31 yard touchdown pass. Timmy Emongo returned two kickoffs for 46 yards including a long return of 25 yards. Riley Colvin led the defense with five solo and two assisted tackles with 1.5 of his tackles resulting in losses totaling three yards. North Oldham rolled to a 46-0 victory over Henry Clay as the offense, defense, and special teams all got in on long scoring plays. North Oldham recorded 13 first downs and 332 yards of total offense. They were penalized six times for 49 yards. Henry Clay recorded 11 first downs and 172 yards of total offense. The Blue Devils were penalized six times for 45 yards and had three passes intercepted with two of them being returned for touchdowns.

Ronin Renton led North Oldham’s ground game with 103 yards and two touchdowns on 12 carries. Lucas Tompkins carried the ball twice for 24 yards. Colin Daniels completed 14 of 20 passes for 207 yards and two touchdowns. Andrew Davis caught four passes for 41 yards. Lucas Tompkins added three receptions for 93 yards and two touchdowns. Conner Nesmith recorded three receptions for 45 yards. Lucas Tompkins returned one kickoff for 14 yards. Preston Smith led the defense with six solo and five assisted tackles with1.5 of his tackles resulting in losses totaling five yards. Price Duke added five solo and two assisted tackles. Andrew Paul recorded four solo and two assisted tackles with two of his tackles resulting in losses totaling 13 yards. Brody Dressel chipped in with four solo and one assisted tackles with two of his tackles resulting in losses totaling five yards. Lucas Tompkins added four solo tackles and intercepted two passes with 63 return yards with one resulting in a 64 yard touchdown. Conner Nesmith also scored on a 95 yard interception return.

Aiden Huston led Henry Clay’s ground game with 41 yards on 13 carries. Liam Marrs completed seven of 14 passes for 46 yards. Aiden Huston completed five of 13 passes for 94 yards with three interceptions. Antoine Webb caught seven passes for 103 yards. Landon Cross added two receptions for 17 yards. Collins led 14-9 at halftime and pulled away in the second half for a 49-9 victory over Lafayette. Kade Goodin was unstoppable tonight as he threw for five touchdowns and added two more touchdowns o the ground. Collins had 18 first downs and 409 yards of total offense. They were penalized seven times for 60 yards and had one pass intercepted. Lafayette recorded 10 first downs and 197 yards of total offense. The Generals were penalized 12 times for 70 yards.

Kade Goodin led Collins ground game with 95 yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries. A’Davion Dale carried the ball once for 27 yards. Caleb Askew carried the ball six times for 25 yards. Kade Goodin completed 17 of 26 passes for 255 yards and five touchdowns with one interception. Jason Hence caught five passes for 97 yards and two touchdowns. Aviyan Delaney added four receptions for 86 yards and two touchdowns. L. Huelsman recorded two catches for 13 yards and a touchdown. Jack McIntyre added a 42 yard interception. Dajari Hardy returned three kickoffs for 75 yards with a long return of 27 yards and returned one punt for 13 yards. Gage Miller was seven of seven on extra point conversions, punted twice for a 38.0 average, and kicked off seven times for a 56.0 average with three touch backs. Clay England led the defense with four solo and six assisted tackles with one of his tackles resulting in a three yard loss. Dajari Hardy added five solo and two assisted tackles. Isaac Estrada recorded eight assisted tackles with one of his tackles resulting in a three yard loss. Tre England chipped in with three solo and one assisted tackles with one of his tackles resulting in a five yard loss.

Jehovanis Kondo led Lafayette’s ground game with 52 yards on nine carries. Harrison Stephens carried the ball 10 times for 41 yards. Jehovanis Kondo completed seven of 20 passes for 81 yards and one touchdown. Cale Locklar caught five passes for 37 yards. Jackson Grantz caught a 36 yard touchdown pass. JJ Richardson returned four kickoffs for 73 yards with a long return of 25 yards. Jackson Grantz led the defense with four solo and one assisted tackles. Zhian Harmon added four solo tackles. Jake Jacobs recorded three solo tackles with one of his tackles resulting in a nine yard loss. JJ Richardson intercepted a pass.

Lexington Christian Academy earned a 41-21 victory over North Hardin despite having two key players Carter Penix and Mac Darland leaving the game due to injuries. However all-everything back Nash Whalen capably filled in leading the Eagles with four rushing touchdowns. LCA led 21-14 at halftime put pulled away in the second half for the victory. Lexington Christian Academy had 2 first downs and 420 yards of total offense. The Eagles were penalized 11 times for 98 yards. North Hardin recorded 14 first downs and 208 yards of total offense. They were penalized nine times for 69 yards and had a pass intercepted.

Nash Whalen led LCA’s ground game with 137 yards and four touchdowns on 15 carries. Bennett Gudalis carried the ball 12 times for 77 yards. Carter Pennix recorded 22 yards and a touchdown on three carries. Carter Pennix completed nine of 16 passes for 103 yards and a touchdown. Nash Whalen completed three of five passes for 56 yards. Sam Pearson caught six passes for 85 yards and a touchdown. Tyler King also recorded six receptions for 74 yards. Tyler King returned three punts for 74 yards with a long return of 38 yards and returned one kickoff for 16 yards. Bennett Gudalis returned two kickoffs for 29 yards with a long return of 21 yards. Thomas Sizemore led the defense with six solo and five assisted tackles. Bode Darland added four solo and three assisted tackles. Nash Whalen recorded three solo and five assisted tackles with one of his tackles resulting in a six yard loss. Sam Pearson intercepted a pass he returned 27 yards.

J. Kirkland led North Hardin’s ground game with 35 yards on eight carries. Zayden Winfield carried the ball six times for 19 yards. L. Beard recorded 15 yards on 10 carries. J, Kirkland completed 18 of 29 passes for 139 yards and two touchdowns with one interception. Ronald Lunz caught six passes for 46 yards and a touchdown. Carson Thompson added four receptions for 29 yards. Phillip Bostic had two catches for 24 yards. CorVonta Gaines added two receptions for 23 yards and a touchdown. Zayden Winfield returned four kickoffs for 139 yards with a 100 yard return for a score. Cohen Campbell led the defense with seven solo and three assisted tackles. Joseph Whaley added six solo and two assisted tackles. Khomil Taylor recorded four solo and one assisted tackles. Malaki Willis chipped in with three solo and one assisted tackles with one of his tackles resulting in a six yard loss.

South Warren utilized their high octane offense to roll to a 56-35 victory over South Warren. The Spartans ran for 239 yards and added 289 yards through the air, South Warren had 27 first downs and 528 yards of total offense. They were penalized 13 times for 126 yards, lost two fumbles, and had a pass intercepted. Bryan Station recorded seven first downs and 221 yards of total offense. The Defenders were penalized 10 tomes for 69 yards and had three passes intercepted.

Kayden York led South Warren’s ground game with 96 yards and three touchdowns on 16 carries. Jamir Boards carried the ball 17 times for 77 yards and a touchdown. Camden Page added 70 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries. Camden Page completed 17 of 24 passes for 278 yards and three touchdowns with one interception. Jake Carter caught eight passes for 173 yards and one touchdown. Kayden York added three receptions for 36 yards. Tucker Sears also caught three passes for 34 yards and a touchdown. Will Mayes added a 30 yard reception and Griffin Reynolds caught a four yard touchdown pass. Christopher Taylor returned six kickoffs for 89 yards with a long return of 22 yards. Ryley Oller returned on punt for 34 yards. Drayson Moore and Takyon Darden each recorded four solo and two assisted tackles to lead the defense. led the defense. Avery Johnson led Bryan Station’s ground game with 62 yards and a touchdown on six carries. Kerwin Montgomery carried the ball eight times for 28 yards and a touchdown. Coleson Carpenter completed four of 12 passes for 128 yards and two touchdowns with three interceptions. Kamani Barbour caught two passes for 58 yards and a touchdown. Avery Johnson added a 58 yard scoring reception. Brayden Payne returned three kickoffs for 115 yards including an 83 yard return for a touchdown. Jordan Haskins led the defense with seven solo and six assisted tackles and intercepted a pass. Alaji Bojang added three solo and eight assisted tackles. Raymond Young recorded four solo and three assisted tackles. Sedrick Armstrong and LeAvion Johnson each recovered a fumble.

Grant County coach Shawn West countered with 5-7 Sr. Caroline Barnes, 5-7 Jr. Madison Utter, 5-9 Sr. Jada Cummins, 5-2 So. Olivia Ginn, and 5-4 Sr. Skyler Menefee.

Grant County raced out to a 23-8 first quarter lead on their way to a 59-39 victory over Woodford County. Grant County shot 38.7% from the field including three of 13 from the three point line. The Lady Braves connected on eight of 11 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored 26 points off 28 Woodford County turnovers. Woodford County shot 27.9% from the field including three of 17 from beyond the arc. The Lady Yellow Jackets connected on 12 of 24 free throws, pulled down 38 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 16 Grant County turnovers.

Jada Cummins led Grant County with 17 points including four of four free throws, five rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Olivia Ginn added 15 points, five rebounds, four assists, and nine steals. Madsion Utter recorded eight points and five rebounds. Caroline Barnes chipped in with six points, six rebounds, three assists, and two steals.

Taylin Wade led Woodford County with 10 points, six rebounds, two assists, and three blocked shots. The Lady Warhawks connected on 12 of 20 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 18 points off 22 Lewis County turnovers. Lewis County shot 22.2% from the field including two of 15 from beyond the arc. The Lady Lions connected on 23 of 27 free throws, pulled down 38 rebounds, and scored five points off nine Great Crossing turnovers.

5-7 Fr. Samantha Brown led Great Crossing with 16 points including three three point baskets, five of eight free throws, five of eight free throws, seven rebounds, three assists, three blocked shots, and two steals. Kendall Kearney added 14 points including three three point baskets, two rebounds, four assists, and six steals. Jaelle Henderson recorded 11 points including four of four free throws and five rebounds. Claire Tierney chipped in with six points, three rebounds, and two steals. Jenelle Henderson recorded five points and eight rebounds.

The Lady Bulldogs connected on ix of 18 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored 20 points off 22 Scott County turnovers. Scott County shot 26.9% from the field including four of 24 from beyond the arc. The Lady Cardinals connected on 16 of 22 free throws, pulled down 42 rebounds, and scored 23 points off 23 Paul Laurence Dunbar turnovers.

Layla Flynn led Paul Laurence Dunbar with 17 points including two three point baskets, three of four free throws, six rebounds, nine assists, and nine steals. Ellie Lavey added 12 points including two three point baskets, seven rebounds, four blocked shots, and two steals. Samia Stepp recorded 10 points.

West Jessamine raced out to a 22-2 first quarter lead on their way to a 59-38 victory over Jackson County. West Jessamine shot 40.2% from the field including 12 of 32 from the three point line. The Lady Colts connected on their only free throws, pulled down 23 rebounds, and scored 40 points off 26 Jackson County turnovers. Jackson County shot 40% from the field including zero of nine from beyond the arc. The Lady Generals connected on 10 of 14 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored eight points off nine West Jessamine turnovers.

Isabella Lewis led West Jessamine with 19 points including three three point baskets, two rebounds, and four steals. Katie Mastin added 12 points on four three point baskets and two rebounds. 5-4 Fr. Novolee Smith recorded 10 points including two three point baskets. Ariana McLoney chipped in with six points, teo rebounds, and four assists. Claire Marshall recorded four points, four rebounds, five assists, and two steals.
