"Der er et yndigt land" (There Is A Lovely Land)

Words by: Adam Gottlob Oehlenschlager
Music by: Hans Ernst Kr?yer
Adopted: 1844

"Derer et yndigt land" was first performed for a large gathering of Danes in 1844, and became popular quickly with the Danish people. It was adopted later that year by the Danish government as a national anthem, but not the sole national anthem. This anthem is on equal status with "Kong Christian",which is both the national and royal anthem.

When the Danish anthem is usually performed or sung, the first verse is played in its entirety, then it is followed by the last four lines of the last verse. (This is true whether the lyrics are sung or not

The Night They Burned Down The ROTC Building.
This is really a portion of a post I wrote last fall called.

Things Are Not Always As They Seem

But when I read Michelle Malkin's article

MORE RECRUITERS UNDER ATTACK

and

University of North Carolina ROTC Armory Vandalized

by BLACKFIVE

I could not resist reprinting this portion.

To the best of my knowledge the events I recount here are true. Recalled after some 30 years for reasons that will become apparent as your read the following.

"While I was reading this and like matters I got to thinking how different reality is from what most of the public perceive it and I recalled some events from my youth.

I will take a moment here to reminisce. Some may find this tale humorous some may not.

First I must provide some perspective and location.
I graduated from High School in 1969, some of you will recall those days, a time of great upheaval here at home and abroad.

I did not go to the University, until the Fall of 1971, my first two years I spent at a local Community College branch of the University of Kentucky.

I missed quite a bit of the excitement by staying home those two years. One particular incident I missed at UK was the night they burned down the ROTC Building A blow for the Revolution!

I say they, because I was about 300 miles away when it happened and had no involvement. But after wards at UK and during the years later I met quite a few who were very proud that we burned down the ROTC Building. Really, I thought there were far too many "we's" for all of them to have been involved, but some people do like glory through Association.

What divides me from them is that I know the real truth about what was done that night. I learned it from a girl I met on campus.

Maureen was a very pretty girl, which might account for my clear recollection of the tale she told after all these years.

Was she a Revolutionary, and Anarchist, a Sister in the Struggle? No, Maureen was a Dancer. A Ballet Dancer actually with the UK Dance Company.

Maureen also had a severe handicap, which was revealed to me by one of her closest friends. Ballerinas start training when they are not much older than babies, toddlers even and Maureen was VERY good at what she did, but alas she did NOT have the Classic Ballerina Build, she was how shall I put it? Too top heavy. EXTREMELY topheavy. Believe me, when those bright blue eyes flashed and her face flushed with emotion and and the Twin Peaks moved, your attention was RIVETED.

Maureen was very bitter about the Night They Burned Down the ROTC Building. No she was not a Young Republican, she was just a Dancer, but you see, the ROTC had not used that building in YEARS.

The Fine ARTS Dept used it instead to store the Props and Costumes for the Theater and Dance Company!

It was a case of Improper Target Identification and a lack of Intelligence in ALL the definitions of the term.

Over the years I have had the great pleasure of running into people who went to UK at that period of time and look back on their Revolutionary Youth with great Pride,

I just love it when they say, "Yeah man, WE burned down the ROTC Building!" and I get to see the confusion in their face when I reply, "Yeah that certainly was a Great Blow in the Struggle Against Culture!". "Rise up and throw off the Shackles of Ballet and Theater?"

Then when I explain with disgust what actually happened that night, and how long it took the Fine Arts Dept to recoup the blow to its budget, there is that moment, when I can see ALL of their Youthly Illusions Shatter, and Die,

Now, I want you to know, I am not an unfeeling person, I get a great deal of delight from these experiences. ;-)

The Lesson of this tale is always verify,
Things Are Not Always As They Seem."

Hurricane Fables
Topic: Global Warming
I am bumping this post up to the present inspired by the comprehensive article recently in Cox & Forkum on this topic

The Real Recycling Problem

"Collusion? Forget the oil industry. You have to wonder about the media and environmental scare-mongers. TIME magazine's recent cover story on global warming warned ominously: "Be Worried, Be Very Worried." This week CNN reported: Experts: Global warming behind 2005 hurricanes. And conveniently, this latest round of alarmism comes just in time for the release of Al Gore's global-warming shockumentary "An Inconvenient Truth".

Fortunately not all media are on the apocalyptic band wagon. More articles are appearing that critique "climate change" doomsaying and environmentalism. Here are a few:"

In addition I have an article which gives a different viewpoint than is normally disseminated on what exactly prevented the acceptance of the Kyoto Treaty by the US. K Squared

Gore In The Balance

Posted 9/15/2005

Atmospherics: In 1900, before hurricanes had names, a Category 4 slammed into Galveston, Texas, killing about 8,000 people. And neither global warming nor George W. Bush was to blame. But try telling that to Al Gore.

Hurricanes are unpredictable. In other words, unlike Bush critics who blame his policies for virtually everything except the common cold and original sin. Former Vice President Gore, author of "Earth in the Balance," which proclaimed that the internal combustion engine was the greatest threat mankind ever faced, is no exception.

After a noble deed, personally helping airlift some 270 Katrina evacuees on two private charters from New Orleans to Tennessee on Sept. 3 and 4, he journeyed to San Francisco on Sept. 9 to address a convention of the National Sierra Club. There, he delivered a speech he'd been scheduled to give in New Orleans, one literally blaming Bush for Hurricane Katrina and its consequences.

After repeating the charge that Bush ignored warnings in August 2001 of an imminent al-Qaida attack, Gore declared "there are scientific warnings now of another onrushing catastrophe" that Bush is also ignoring — "that the average hurricane will continue to get stronger because of global warming."

"We will face a string of terrible catastrophes unless we act to prepare ourselves and deal with the underlying causes of global warming," Gore warned.

Hurricanes the size of Katrina are rare, but they are not new, and they are not caused by George Bush or global warming. But don't take our word for it. Listen to Stanley Goldenberg, a meteorologist at the Hurricane Research Division of the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration, when he states: "I speak for many hurricane climate researchers in saying such claims are nonsense."

"Katrina is part of a well-documented, multidecadal scale fluctuation in hurricane activity," Goldenberg observes, noting that "this cycle was described in a heavily cited article printed in the journal Science in 2001

****************************************************
I have put the beginning and end here I DO suggest you read the entirety, as I feel it puts the total picture in a consise and easily understood form
****************************************************
A recent paper, "Hurricanes and Global Warming," written by six noted tropical cyclone experts and published in the Bulletin of the American Meteorological Society, concluded that no connection has been established between greenhouse gas emissions and hurricane activity, and that the scientific consensus was that changes in hurricane intensity would be small and with historical patterns.

If Gore had gone to the Web site of the National Hurricane Center, he'd have discovered that the peak for major hurricanes (Categories 3, 4, 5) came in the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s, when such storms averaged nine per year. From 2001 to 2004, the average was three.

Nor are hurricanes intensifying in strength. According to the United Nations Environment Program of the World Meteorological Organization: "Reliable data . . . since the 1940s indicate that the peak strength of the strongest hurricanes has not changed, and the mean maximum intensity of all hurricanes has decreased."

Now, if we could only have a cycle where Al Gore would keep quiet.

What is painfully obvious is the vast majority of what the media reported and what Howard Dean and others have shouted from the hilltops is just not true. It is up to us to hammer away at the deceptions and false information in a continual effort, Let the American People see the difference and they will in time, they always do. Approval indexes can go down at the first shock and in reaction to the first shouts but then they climb again.

Shop America
One week until we all need to go SHOPPING!
I am bumping this post up.

I and others have been posting recently on the Illegal Immigration issue and also on the recent demonstrations and Boycotts.

Some of my previous posts are here:

Boycott the Boycotts
!Este no es su Bario Vato! This is not your Neighborhood Homeboy.
We Can IF We Choose To

Today in Captain's Quarters we learn of the next forth coming Demonstrations and boycotts.

Boycott For Illegals On May Day
"The traditional Communist holiday of May Day has been selected for a boycott protesting the push to secure the southern border of the United States, the Washington Times reports this morning. The timing is not coincidental, as the Stalinist sympathizers International ANSWER has led the effort to stage the economic protest:

Immigration rights organizers today will call for a nationwide boycott of work, school and shopping on May 1 to protest congressional efforts to clamp down on illegal aliens as part of pending immigration-reform legislation.
he "Great American Boycott of 2006" is only one in a series of large-scale events the protesters hope will sway lawmakers to put millions of illegal aliens on track toward permanent residency and U.S. citizenship.

"The massive March 25 march and rally in Los Angeles of well over one million immigrant workers and their supporters -- along with protests and student walkouts throughout the United States -- is irrefutable evidence that a new civil rights and workers' rights movement is on the rise," said Raul Murillo, one of the key organizers and president of the Hermandad Mexicana Nacional. ...

The Act Now to Stop War & End Racism (ANSWER) coalition, which organized the Los Angeles march to win "full rights for undocumented workers," is confident its new "national action" will prove successful.

ANSWER's steering committee includes the Free Palestine Alliance, the Partnership for Civil Justice, the Nicaragua Network, the Korea Truth Commission, the Muslim Student Association, the Mexico Solidarity Network and the Party for Socialism and Liberation. It denounces as racism attempts to criminalize illegal aliens.

The selection of May Day as its target date reveals much of the philosophical underpinning of the illegals movement. They wish to deny the United States sovereignty over their own territory and control of its own borders. It follows from their political ambition to recreate the Communist hegemony that died in Europe from its own internal rot and to fuel the notion of mob rule in the name of a rising proletariat. Workers of the world, unite! and all that."

My first reaction is just when did breaking the Law become not a criminal act?

Second is a call to Americans who feel that our Laws should be respected.

Do you feel that what you do cannot have any impact on the national scene?

Do you feel that no one pays attention to how you feel and think?

NOW is the time you can make a difference.

Now is the time that average American Citizens, the one's who work for a living can send a message to Washington in the clearest and loudest terms.

Put your money where your mouth is!

May 1st SHOP AMERICA!

Have you been planning a major purchase?

Do it on that day.

How about your weekly or bi-weekly grocery shopping?

Do it that day.

Take your family out to dinner. Buy that new dress, new suit, new computer.

AND if you see a business closed on May 1st? Don't spend your money there from that day hence. You might even stick a note under the door informing them of your decision.

Let us make this May 1st one of the BIGGEST shopping days of 2006.

If we can do that? Congress will know we mean business and if they choose not to listen?

They will know the price they may pay this November and the one two years from now.

Remember Montebello High!

SHOP AMERICA!

Doll at Freedom Watch has posted the demands
we are presented with in "The Great American Boycott 2006"

"I demand full rights and equality for all immigrants living in the United States. Neoliberal economic policies targeting Latin America, like NAFTA and CAFTA, have pushed millions of people into abject poverty. Immigrants are forced to come to the U.S. to look for work. Nobody should be criminalized for attempting to survive. No human being is illegal. Racism against immigrants emanates from the same forces behind the U.S. war to conquer and control the wealth of Iraq."

UPDATE I posted this article on a discussion board and this was one responce.

"I emailed THE WIFE (yes I think of her that way...with curliques (sp?) and stuff too) and told her to go shopping, bring the kids, go out to eat and bring friends... I'll do mine at the PX on Arifjan...

58 days and counting down"

We CAN Clean Our Own Toilets
I caught the THE TOILET BRUSH CAMPAIGN on Michelle Malkin this evening.

"Earlier this week, open borders L.A. mayor Antonio Villaraigosa gave a divisive speech on behalf of illegal alien protesters in which he declared:

"Today we say to America: We've come here to work: We clean your toilets. We clean your hotels. We build your houses. We take care of your children. We want you to help us take care of our children as well."
Many law-abiding L.A. residents who clean their own toilets took umbrage at Villaraigosa's McCain-like contempt for self-reliant Americans and his us-vs.-them militancy. Now, there's a campaign underway to answer Villaraigosa.

With toilet brushes.

KFI's John and Ken show has details of the "Amnesty Brush-Off."

Reader Jeff M. e-mails: "So many people are sending in toilet brushes that prices have been climbing (even on Amazon where toilet brushes have been hitting the # 1 spot on their sales charts)!"

Some nice ones available here and here.

I have yet to find it to look up an Illegal Alien to clean my toilet, but maybe this gentleman (?) has no idea what is entailed in this process so I joined a multitude of my compatriots and sent him the above tool via amazon.com.

You think he might figure it out?

I see that great minds think alike. I discovered I was tardy on this issue

Cross posted from Freedom Watch and The Uncooperative Blogger
UPDATE: I just followed an outclick on my sitemeter account and realised I ordered my toilet brush too quickly, without reading the whole page
It turns out there were "2 used & new available from $1.33"
Now sending a USED toilet brush to that Mayor would have been a really nice touch, anyone who has not placed their order yet? Have at it. ;-)
