One of the first commands of the ancient Mysteries, it is the most important. This command reminds us that one cannot and must not reveal spiritual principles a mind that is not ready for it. Spiritual growth is a personal thing, based on personal revelation. If one breaks Silence, that not only deprives the individual of that beautiful moment of revelation, but also corrupts the thought itself. Some individuals have misunderstood the most sublime thoughts, and in their confusion, have become dangerous, sometimes psychotic. This does not mean to hold back the teachings, only to express them properly.
Spiritual Ideas are best conveyed through symbols, parables, art, demonstrative behavior, or writing. This ensures the individual is actively seeking the information but is also able to reach the level to understand it. Preaching and in-your-face tactics are not proper media, causing the mind to become defensive, and thus less able to contemplate. To allow someone to have a revelation is among the greatest gifts, as they will cherish it more. The essence is Respect.
