Confectioner's Sugar
~
7/8 cup granulated sugar (3/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons)
1 tablespoon cornstarch*
~
Combine ingredients in a blender and blend on high speed for a few seconds; then turn it off and check for consistency.
~
If the sugar doesn't have a fine enough consistency, turn blender on again for a few seconds at a time, checking after each whirl of the blender blades.

*Commercial confectioners sugar contains a small amount of cornstarch to prevent caking

Pancake Syrup

Great in a pinch when you've run out of syrup
and those kiddies are squealing for more pancakes...
sorry...that's piggies that squeal, isn't it?

4 cups white granulated sugar
2 cups water
1 teaspoon maple flavoring
2 teaspoons vanilla flavoring

Mix together sugar and water.  Stir to dissolve and bring mixture to boil.  Lower heat to medium and cook 15 minutes.  Remove from heat.

Add flavorings
~
Stir and use on pancakes, etc.

Bis-Quik Mix
~
Use this mix as you would the commercial brand
~
6 cups all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons baking powder
1 tablespoon salt
1 cup dry milk
1 cup shortening
~
Mix the dry ingredients together until well mixed.  Cut in shortening until the mixture looks like cornmeal in texture.

Store in an air tight jar or can and keep in a cool, dry place
~
Use this mix with your favorite recipes that calls for a basic quick mix.

Dressing/Dip Mix - Ranch Style
~
2 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons dried minced garlic
3 tablespoons dried minced onion
2 teaspoons freshly ground pepper
2 teaspoons sugar
2 and 1/2 teaspoons paprika
2 and 1/2 teaspoons dried parsley flakes
~
Combine ingredients and blend well.  Store in an air tight container.

Makes 1/2 cup mix or 8 portions for dressing or dip.

For Dressing:
~
1 tablespoon dry mix
1 cup mayonnaise
1 cup buttermilk
~
Blend ingredients together for salad dressing.

For Dip:
~
1 tablespoon dry mix
1 cup sour cream
~
Blend and refrigerate 1 hour before serving.
