A few minutes later, our housemates emerged again. Buffy, who had changed into a robe, looked very self-conscious, but Dawn was smiling.

"That was quick!" said Willow.

Dawn shook her head. "I wanted to be out here."

"Oh–well, we'll leave." Willow and I were quite worked up from having shared Buffy's experience so closely, and had begun to kiss and touch all over again beneath the blanket.

Dawn shook her head again, smiling even wider. She wanted us to stay.

Buffy embraced Dawn in front of us, and then moved behind her. Buffy unbuttoned Dawn's shirt and then unfastened her bra and tossed it aside. The younger girl's breasts showed tantalizingly through the opening. Willow and I moved together on the couch and squeezed one another–without taking an eye off the show. Buffy began unfastening Dawn's pants and Willow moaned. This was unbearably erotic.

Dawn's pants fell around her ankles, and her panties soon followed. Her fur looked so cute between her thighs. She smiled slightly, feeling very exposed... and loving it. Willow and I were far beyond being able to speak. This was not how we had envisioned the evening.

"Lie down, sweetie," Buffy directed, smiling–she was starting to enjoy this as much as Dawn. Dawn lay on her back, head towards us and feet toward the recliner. Buffy removed her sister's shoes, slid her pants away, and moved her legs apart. Dawn was breathing heavily, eager for whatever might happen next. Buffy had just experienced something incredible, and she contemplated how best to return the favor.

She decided on the tiniest of kisses. First on the tops of Dawn's feet. Then her ankles. Then, for several minutes, on her lovely calves. Then working slowly up the front of one thigh, all over the girl's stomach, and down the other leg. Up the inside of her thigh, even more slowly. One kiss–just one–on her lover's shining, pink, swollen folds. Down the inside of the other thigh. Then the back of Dawn's hand. Slowly up her arm, along her collarbone, and down between her breasts. Circling each breast gradually to the center, and one kiss–just one–on each erect nipple. Down the remaining arm to kiss the back of the hand. Turn the hand over and kiss the palm. Lick it a little. A little more. Buffy used her tongue to give Dawn what she craved... but not in the place she needed. Dawn moaned and twisted. As did Willow and I, caressing each other beneath the blanket as we watched.

Buffy straddled Dawn, her robe parting to allow their skin to touch. She ran her fingers through her lover's hair, and took the girl's pleading face between her hands. Tiny kisses on her eyes now. A tiny kiss on the lips. Dawn's tongue slipped out and Buffy treated it to many tiny kisses too. Then she sucked it into her mouth and began a much different kind of kiss. Even after all these months, a kiss like this always filled Buffy with as much amazement as tenderness. This incredible creature belonged to her!

"Buffy!" Dawn gasped, "I'm close...."

Buffy resumed kissing, but moved her hands lower to touch Dawn's chest with a light, tickling touch that gradually became more aggressive. Dawn was close indeed. And the Slayer planned to keep her that way. Buffy glanced up, and our watching eyes from the couch made her pulse beat even faster.

"Please, Buffy!" Dawn repeated over and over, trying to press her sex into Buffy, but, lying between the Slayer's legs, it was not possible.

Dawn moved into an almost trance-like state which made speech impossible. Buffy's eyes were her entire world. She followed those eyes as they slipped away from her face, receded down her body, and came to rest between her legs. She thrust her hips into Buffy's face but could not achieve any pressure. She fumbled with her hands for the back of Buffy's head, but Buffy held her wrists to the floor.

Buffy lovingly admired her partner's exposed genitals, allowing Dawn to feel only her warm breath. "Buff..." Dawn could not even find breath to finish the Slayer's name. And Buffy knew it was time. She descended on her mate with lips and tongue. Dawn arched her back and tried to raise her knees but Buffy kept her pressed flat. Buffy rolled her face into Dawn's hot wetness, loving the feel as it dried on her skin, and keeping eye contact with Dawn all the while. Willow and I were two shining sparks hovering beside Buffy's head, absorbing every sight and sound. Buffy and Dawn both felt electrified by our presence.

Dawn was right on the edge, and Buffy wanted to give her the same release she had just had herself. All at once she realized what would give Dawn the most pleasure right now. Normally the Slayer would never have considered doing what she did. But she was aroused beyond thought, and simply acted. Her Slayer reflexes made it quite easy.

Buffy turned her head and before Willow knew what was happening, her sprite was sucked into the Slayer's mouth. I darted away too slowly and Buffy snapped me out of the air as well. Momentarily stunned, I nestled with my Willow on the Slayer's warm, wet, tongue, in a total darkness that smelled and tasted of Dawn. Soon our own instincts took over, and we "kissed" Buffy from the inside. Her tongue responded and we were in ecstasy.

And then we felt ourselves being forced into a different darkness. Warmer, slipperier, and tasting even more strongly of Dawn. We were inside her! Buffy's tongue chased us deeper, and Dawn's blood beat around us. We felt oddly confined–we both knew the inside of a woman intimately, but Dawn's spaces were smaller, tighter, and there were two of us inside.

We did what felt natural and made love to Dawn, while Buffy attended to her clitoris. Dawn's repeated cries were weak but urgent.

"Let go, Dawn... let go...." Buffy was gasping. And we knew what Buffy wanted. We moved expertly within Dawn's vagina, and felt pressure building in all the right ways. With a scream, Dawn ejaculated, and the pulses of her orgasm rippled over us for many long seconds.

Willow and I paused to press into one another lovingly, then flew out to rejoin our bodies. Dawn lay in a blissful stupor, and Buffy crouched over her looking extremely shocked. Liquid ran from her gaping mouth onto the carpet.

"You OK, Buffy?" Dawn gasped.

The Slayer licked her lips, swallowed the flavor of Dawn's love, and nodded slowly. She had intended this, but it had startled her when it actually happened.

"That was incredible!" Dawn said with adoration. "Oh Buffy!"

Then she looked back at us. "Willow... Tara... I don't know what to say.... thank you!"

But we were thrusting shakily against each other's fingers, sweating faces pressed together, unable to reply. The blanket had fallen away and our friends watched our shared orgasm.

Afterwards, none of us was quite certain whether things were simpler now between us... or far more complex. Talking about our feelings had certainly been a good idea, but in the end things had gotten a little out of hand. The kind of closeness we had just shared cannot simply be forgotten. Would this be the start of new jealousies, new insecurities, new awkwardness?

But for now, we put those doubts aside and simply enjoyed being together and feeling one another's love. Dawn rolled onto her stomach and stretched her muscles with a smile. Buffy moved on top of her, wrapping her arms and legs around her lover. Willow and I curled up against them from either side, and levitated the blanket over us all. We slept, and Dawn did not dream.

We held our next meeting in Spike's crypt. His contact with vampires and demons was valuable, and there was no other way we could include him without waiting for night. And the Council had just had a breakthrough–Giles now knew that the Soulbridge was!

"Spike? If you're ready let's begin."

Spike turned off his new TV and stopped yanking uselessly at the antennas. "I guess you can't get TV underground!" said Spike, frustrated. He joined the group.

"Good news," said Giles, "We have a very good idea what the Soulbridge is." Now he had our attention. "Dawn, I don't mean to pry into your private affairs, but I have to ask you something very important."

"What?"

"Have you met someone you haven't told anyone about? Someone... important to you?"

"No, I have my friends at school, you know them... that's all." Dawn didn't like Giles' tone. He and Xander seemed unable to get over treating her like a child.

"Is there a boy at school? A stranger you have become involved with? There must be someone!"

"No, there isn't," said Dawn uncooperatively.

"Dawn, a Soulbridge is something that can form, in theory, between two people who care a great deal about each other. It's not as simple as that of course–in fact, there is no record of it ever actually happening. Magic must be involved, and you being the Key might well supply that. And an intense emotional bond must also be present. If there is a Soulbridge between you and someone else, then that person will know when you are in danger, perhaps even be able to help you in some way. We don't really know what is involved. But the Council is certain that the Soulbridge exists, and you are one end of it." Giles stopped his pacing with his back turned to us. "So, you must understand, we very much need to know who is at the other end. If he can help you, we want to help him. Or, if the Soulbridge is dangerous, as the monks believe, then we need to deal with that."

Dawn and Buffy exchanged looks, astonished but trying not to show it.

"Dawn, if you hide this, you could be placing yourself in very great danger. I wouldn't ask if it wasn't important." Giles was getting the sense that Dawn was involved with someone very evil, and that she was protecting him. The monks were right. There was nothing that said a Soulbridge couldn't have evil on one side.

Buffy stood up. The inevitable moment had come and it didn't seem funny now. She was more nervous about this than about anything she had ever confessed to her friends. Even about Angel. "Giles, um.... Dawn and me...."

Giles stopped her. "No, Buffy.... there is a deep bond between you and your sister, but the Soulbridge needs something more. Much more." It seemed that Buffy might know something, and be covering it up for her sister.

Buffy couldn't find the words to reply, but Dawn stood up beside her. "There is something more." She took a deep breath–she found that she really did want to let this out in the open."Buffy and me.... we're together." She put her hand on her sister's shoulder. The Slayer looked rather worried.

"I don't understand," said Giles, "there is someone–"

"No... we're together," said Dawn. She turned to Buffy and did what felt natural. She licked the Slayer's lips. Buffy's body language in response to even this tiny gesture made the situation immediately apparent. "There's no one else but my Buffy. There never will be."

"Ah." said Giles, shocked and extremely embarrassed. Nobody else said a word. Xander and Spike just stared. Anya smiled with her head to one side–how romantic! Willow and I held hands, hoping that a fight was not about to begin.

Eventually Giles noticed our lack of surprise and seized on the subject to break the awkward silence. "You knew about this?"

We both nodded. "It is a good thing," said Willow, "trust us. We found it a little hard to take at first, too, but... it really is a good thing. It's love."

Giles was shaking his head, unable to process this.

Xander spoke, shocked, "That's disgusting! That's not a good thing! That's not love!"

"It is! And they're not really sisters," I said, angry. "How is it your place to judge them?"

Buffy still didn't trust herself to speak. She wanted the subject dropped, but it wasn't going to happen.

Spike was sitting very still, his face blank, staring at Buffy. She feared he would explode at any second. They had shared something when she was first recovering from her resurrection, and although it was over, she knew he still had feelings for her.

Spike spoke very slowly and quietly. "Giles. Would it be correct to say that the Soulbridge itself proves that what they have is indeed genuine love?"

"Yes..." said Giles, consternated, "I suppose it does...."

"Then we must be happy for them."

Buffy knew now that Spike still loved her. Loved her enough to let her go. We all came to that same understanding. I rose and put a hand on the vampire's shoulder. He looked down at the table. He was the only person who could have spoken and brought the group to terms with this relationship.

"Sorry guys," said Xander eventually. "It's just kinda freaky...." Buffy nodded.

"Thanks, Spike," said the Slayer.

Spike just nodded, not making eye contact.

Buffy and Dawn I took our seats again, followed by Giles. The sisters held hands, and nobody spoke for a time.

Finally Giles spoke again. "So... we don't have a new ally after all. But it should be possible, Buffy, for you to know when your sister..." Giles looked ready to crawl under the table. "Sorry.... force of habit!"

"I am proud to be Buffy's sister," said Dawn. Buffy smiled and squeezed her hand. Being sisters didn't seem quite real anymore, but it was a lifetime they still shared on a certain level, and it was meaningful.

"Ah. Very well then," said Giles, uncertain what to make of this. "In any case, there should be some way you two can learn to tell when the other is being threatened. We'll want to explore that fully."

"There is a way," said Buffy. "We can feel each other. I can sense her fear, and she can sense mine. No matter how far away she is."

"Excellent," said Giles. "If we can prevent the Soulbridge from doing any harm, that will be very useful! And who knows what other powers the Soulbridge may have? It benefits both of you–enough that enemies of the Slayer have been rather concerned. But it would seem there has never actually been one before. So I'm afraid we're rather in the dark here."

Buffy frowned. "How can the monks think our love could do any harm?"

"I don't know. I'm sure they have good reason, though. If it becomes necessary for them to destroy the Soulbridge, then you two may have to give up this new sense you share."

"How would they do such a thing?" asked Buffy, suddenly alert. "Would they... try to destroy our love itself?"

Giles sighed. "It is possible that might be the only way. You should prepare yourselves not to fight them if that does become necessary. Remember, they have worked for thousands of years to protect the Key. That's their only goal. I know they have been considering trying to end the relationship that built the bridge. That's one possible solution. Then they can proceed with their own new method of protecting Dawn."

Buffy was furious. At Giles, who still didn't take them seriously, and would obviously be just as happy if this relationship ended. And especially at the monks, who would dare to think that anything between her and Dawn could be a bad thing. They might even try to end their love! And they clearly could get inside people's heads quite effectively–the sister thing proved that! The Slayer felt ready to scream.

But Dawn was smiling, and she put her arms around the Slayer's neck.

"What is it Dawn?" Buffy found her anger subsiding involuntarily.

"They don't want us to love each other!" Dawn brought her nose to Buffy's still smiling. "They've been draining our shared memories, trying to split us apart."

"I know, what right do they have! What–" Buffy's words were stopped by a kiss.

"Don't you see?" But clearly Buffy didn't. Dawn whispered in her ear. "They didn't make us love each other!"

Buffy's heart soared. She had thought that question would hang over them forever. But now the doubt was gone: she and Dawn had real love–love of their very own–and she was overcome by the certainty that nothing could ever stand in its way.

She shifted on top of me and her blouse lifted slightly in back, revealing that her skirt had slipped down a bit. The tiniest hint of the cleft between her buttocks was visible, and without thinking I trailed a finger over the spot tenderly.
