What is HTML?
HTML stands for Hyper Text Mark-up Language. HTML is basically a collection of formatting commands that create a web page.

Tags
All HTML tags are enclosed within brackets < > which are called tags.
Anything that is written between the two brackets will be invisible and not appear on your page.
HTML tags are not case sensitive. Therefore, <center> is exactly the same as <CENTER> and <Center>.
However, image filenames are case sensitive though and should be written exactly as it appears. For example, aisha.gif is not the same as aisha.GIF.
Nearly all HTML commands have both an opening and a closing tag. For example, the opening tag <b> causes all your text on the page to remain bold until the closing tag </b> is used. The / is the command to close the particular function. Remember that there is no closing tag for <p> or <br>.

Basic Formatting
Bold:
<b> makes your text bold </b> makes your text not bold anymore

Italic:
<i> makes your text italic </i> makes your text not italic anymore

Underline:
<u> underlines your text </u> makes your text not underlined anymore

Center:
<center> makes your text or images centered </center> makes your text or images not centered anymore

Break:
<br> inserts a line break, which is just like pressing enter on your keyboard. There is no closing tag for <br>

Paragraph:
<p> This starts a new paragraph which is very useful for splitting up your text. There is no closing tag for <p>
