So, now that you've taken care of figuring out how many skill picks you've received, you need to figure out what those skill picks represemt.
Quite simply, each skill has a Base Value which was determined earlier. For example, Brawling has a Basic Capability of Strength. Therefore, if you had a Base Value of Strength as 5, then you modify that score dependant on the number of skill picks you put towards that skill.
Each skill pick put towards a skill adds to the overall skill score by a certain amount. Please note that if you put two skill picks into a skill, you only increase the skill score by 5, not by 8(the amount of the first pick + the second pick).
The Special category has only two different skills in it, Avoid and
Perception. These can only be increased by your Free skills that
you have gained through your backgrounds. The increase of the value
by skill picks is different, and that is on the chart as well.
| # of Skill Picks | Bonus | Special Bonus |
| 1 | +3 | +1 |
| 2 | +5 | +2 |
| 3 | +7 | +3 |
| 4 | +8 | +4 |
| 5 | +9 | +4 |
| 6 | +10 | +5 |
| 7 | +11 | +5 |
| 8 | +12 | +6 |
One other thing before we innudate you with the skills that are on the
application. Please understand that you can't have a skill value
no higher than the Basic Capability that the skill is based on. If
you have an Intelligence of 12, all skills based on Intelligence can only
go as high as 12.
