Western Massachusetts Scholastic Chess League 2003 Individual/Team Championship
After taking second in the division, Agawam comes back to take first in the Team Championship and also takes all four boards for Individuals.
League Matches
Agawam sweeps all teams and remains undefeated, but suffers two losses vs. our old rival, Commerce. Both teams gained two new members - commerce gains two girls from Azerbaijan (the hometown of Garry Kasparov) who now hold the 1st and 2nd board positions - Agawam gains two 4th boards, Aditia Patel and Vlad ---- (spelling confirmations coming soon)

Western Massachusetts Scholastic Chess League 2002 Individual/Team Championship
Agawam places Second in the Team Tournament but captures best overall 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Boards for Individuals. Agawam was the only undefeated team until the last round where all four boards lost their matches - the only possible way for the team to take 2nd. Spirits are high and all four boards plan to return next year.
Chicopee
GM Pete Kingsley finishes with 2 points and Steward Nathan Krach finishes with 2.5. Both played in the Open Section and the two actually faced each other. GM Kingsley played as white and caught Krach off guard with a variation of the Fried Liver Attack. Both agree that it was excellent practice for Western Mass.
Lowell
GM Pete Kingsley finishes with a final score of 1.5 and Steward Nathan Krach finishes with 2.
Commerce vs. Agawam
Agawam swept Commerce 4-0 and finishes off the Southern Division undefeated.
West Springfield vs. Agawam
Agawam wins their first home meet, 4 and 0.
Commerce vs. Agawam
Agawam wins meet but suffers their first loss - GM Kingsley lost to the Commerce First Board - Final Score 3 and 1.

Agawam wins all four of its matches - on to West Springfield!
Sturbridge
GM Pete Kingsley and Steward Nathan Krach both get the shellacking of their lives. Krach blundered away three winning games; finishing 2 and 3, while Kingsley finished 1 and 4 - both agree, however, that it was a great learning experience.
AIC Open - Agawam Cleans Up - Again!

Agawam takes home three trophies. GM Kingsley draws seventh rated junior female in country.
