I like hubcaps
Mood:  amorous
Now Playing: Randomness... total, absolute randomness
Update!: It was suggested to me earlier that I should write an article for the CGCC paper declaring my candidancy. I did back in the October 2000 issue! I actually did it in response to fellow staff writer BJ's declaration. Here's his, and then mine. And as a bonus (I'll be unearthing more of my articles, now that I found them online again), this is my favorite article that I wrote while at Georgia Southern, and one of the rare few that wasn't at least a little serious (I was actually writing newspaper-quality articles there!). Ah yes, loved the April Fool's issue.

This Book Will Change Andy's Life has been updated with Day Forty-Nine... Citizen's Arrest Day! I try to at least update that for you every day. Look at that, almost at day 50 of 365!

Howard Dean dropped out of the Presidential race today. He was my favorite out of the candidates. Seemed like the most humanlike of them. Ah well.

If I liked Bush before (which I didn't), I'd really not like him now (which I don't).

In one of those "ha ha" things, the RIAA has been sued.

My future wife Norah sold a million copies of her new CD in her first week, becoming only the second female ever to do that and the first artist since the lovely boys of NSYNC to do that. And the first real artist to ever do it.

In addition to politics, I rarely go into baseball talk here. However, my all-time favorite player, pitcher Greg Maddux, signed with the Chicago Cubs today. The Cubs are probably my second favorite team, and I couldn't be happier. At this point, I'd rather see him and the beloved Cubs win over the Braves of 2004, which seem to have lost their minds. Besides, the Cubs deserve it.

Since I'm into them these days, former Smashing Pumpkins frontman Michael Stipe blames the band's breakup three years ago on James Iha. He also chose to break this on the former band site/his website.

It's ToyFair time! This is when all of the new action figures are revealed. Here's what you can get me to make me a happy boy who will continue to update his website for you. Heh. :)
* Mr. Horse
* All of the Family Guy figures, especially the talking Stewie (bring on Quagmire! Giggity giggity!)

Allllright.

And I saw my reflection in the snow-covered hills
Mood:  a-ok
Now Playing: 'Landslide' (SP version)

Can you find the new, unadvertised AO feature on the left tool bar? It's very... interesting. And you'll have to find it for yourself. Not that it's really hard to figure out, or anything.

New in the fascinating journey that is This Blog Will Change Andy's Life, we have three entries. There's Day Forty-Seven... Sleep Day! Then, in a rare (but I'm working on decreasing that) bit of AO reader interaction, there's Day Forty-Eight... First Impression Day! Then there's Benrik Flashmob #2!

Yes, I did just overheat Crazy Bread.

Conan O'Brien's recent week in Canada has people upset over Triumph, the beloved Insult Comic Dog, insulting Canadians. As an honorary Canadian, I think it's funny.

531 more music file-swapper sued. Boo.

In a story that is apparently so big it made the list of headlines on CNN.com, Polaroid has issued a warning not to actually shake your Polaroid picture, as heard in the great "Hey Ya!" line of "Shake it like a Polaroid picture." Could you lend me some sugar?

In news that actually leaked about a week ago but is just now hitting the actual news sites, The WB has cancelled Angel following the current season. It's no Buffy, but it is entertaining. Moreso now with Spike, I'd imagine.

In a followup to a previously mentioned story, the head of the Phillie Phanatic has been returned.

Disney has bought the Muppets. Pepe (he's a king prawn, okay!) does not approve.

I know it can be confusing, but a milk jug is indeed not a urinal. Now you know.

We're going to have A Simpsons movie as soon as 2006. This both excites and scares me.

According to a new book, George Washington spent 7% of his presidential salary on booze. Even with all that intoxication, he beat out other Georges.

OutKast are about to start filming their HBO movie. It'll probably be entertaining (I can see Andre being able to do just about anything and do it well), but more importantly, the soundtrack will double as their next album.

In honor of the new Jesus movie (which, for some reasons goes all WWE and refers to him as The Christ), here's reviews of some classic Jesii movies (and they're by the Onion folks, so it's more fun and extra holy!).

At some point in elementary school, I'm pretty sure I gave out some of these valentines. I'm 100% sure I gave out the Mario and Turtle ones, and probably had the California Raisin ones at some point.

And back to Jesus, really... there's no better comic strip than one with penguins and The Christ.

Heads we win, and tails we try again
Now Playing: Smashing Pumpkins' 'Siamese Dream' album
Today, in This Blog Will Change Andy's Life, it's Day Forty-Five... Romance Day! We also flash way back and finish Day Twenty-Five. Oops. And hey to the trio (or at least two of 'em) from This Blog Will Change Our Life, who stopped by the other day. Fun folk to read.

That's all the Valentine cheer you get from me, buddy. (all from the great Capn. Wacky)

Somebody left a cake out in the rain
Now Playing: I don't know why, but 'Seasons in the Sun'
I'd like to dedicate this to a special someone.

*ahem ahem*

I think maybe I'll clean out my drawers
The ones in the dresser in the corner of my room
I'll throw out all my socks and my shorts
Who needs underpants, when I don't have you?

New This Blog Will Change Andy's Life entry. It's Diary Day!

I updated the waaaay out of date Links page, too. Check out all of my friends pages, from Georgia to Texas to wherever Sol is today! Check out favorite musicians! Etc, etc.!

I didn't say it was a GOOD update. :)

Neptune's lips taste like fermented wine
Now Playing: Beck's 'Midnite Vultures' album - my favorite Beck album

First and foremost, the site that hosted my guestbook and the random lyric that was at the top of this page apparently died. Neither's worked for a week. The random lyric can wait. However, if you really like me, you'll go sign the new guestbook. And tell all your friends to sign it. I don't even know who, if anyone besides two people, even come to my site anymore. Maybe if I started advertising it again...

Also new, Andy's Library! I came across this via a random e-mail and found it very cool. There's all of the books on my bookcase and laying around. I still have a bunch of books boxed up in the closet, but those can wait. I have quite the... diverse, perhaps... selection of books. Some of those I was given and have no intention of reading. Many of those I've bought and have yet to find time to read. Ah well.

One last bit of AO newness - This Blog Will Change Andy's Life has been updated. Check out Days Thirty-Nine (Swedish Day), Forty (Practical Joke Day), and Forty-one (Knighthood Day). And yes, one day (probably day fifty) I'll figure out if I'm going to spell it forty or fourty.

The Grammys have been Grammied, and I think I did pretty good with my predictions. OutKast won! Dave actually won! Alison Krauss took home a buttload of Grammys! Yay!

I was just informed of where Andyonline.com leads. DO NOT GO THERE IF YOU'RE AT WORK OR SCHOOL OR YOUNG OR EASILY OFFENDED OR OTHERWISE DON'T GET WHERE I'M GOING WITH THIS WARNING!!! It is kinda cool knowing that someone's paying to use the name of my site as a way to get people to go to that kind of stuff though. I'm kinda amazed, actually. My site is popular enough where someone bought the name to deter visitors to porn! Yes!

Don't take your cat to Ohio. Unless of course you want to electronically track them...

In what is a truly sad story, the Phillie Phanatic's head has been stolen.

The ever-cool RetroCrush has ranked the top 50 famous monkeys of all-time. Personally, I would've left Diddy Kong off the list and put Candy Kong on there.

Best page ever. Mr. T's World of Illusions! I pity the fool who's eyes don't see the illusions! Drink your milk!

Norah in Rolling Stone! I hope she's on the cover of this week's new issue.

Later! A big surprise coming from me to you on Valentine's Day!

Crap boobs crap
Mood:  spacey
Now Playing: Stuart (Look what I can do!)
Three new This Book Will Change Andy's Life entries... Say Nothing Day, Eat & Run Day, and Church Day.

Hey, here's my yearly round of Grammy predictions. Dig that old-school AO design! And check out those old-school AO departments at the top that still work... the Music Archives! The Journalism Archives! Linkage! Hey, there's the link to my gal Sol's page... missed the girl and her wacky adventures around the world!

Okay, that's all I've got. Noooo motivation for anything else on the AO tonight.

Andy Recommendations, Volume Four (I think)
Now Playing: 'CTMA', again
Here's another set of songs I can't get enough of. Get your hands on 'em, 'cause I highly recommend them.

Puddle of Mudd division:
Spin You Around - Great, great song. While I still kinda think of Puddle of Mudd as "just another of the soundalike rock bands of today" though cherish their music a little more after seeing it live, this song is better than most of what's on rock radio these days. Seriously. Give it a spin. Great sound.

She Hates Me and Blurry - I always kinda liked "She Hates Me." I despised "Blurry" for the longest time, because I couldn't escape it on the radio. Now it's a lot more tolerable.

Control - Best song line for 2004, thus far: "I love the way you look at me / I love the way you smack my ass."

Non-Puddle of Mudd division:
Nicotine & Gravy by Beck - This is from my favorite Beck album, which is totally not the favorite Beck album of most people. It's just such a different, funky, fun sound. This was one of those songs used on a "relationship mix CD" back in the day. It's stuck with me ever since, years later.

Peanuts Theme by Dave Matthews Band - Yeah, basically just DMB doing the theme during a sound check and one of their many rabid fans who think they should record every moment of everything taped it and put it online. Why not.

Cowboy Take Me Away by Dixie Chicks - I reaquired the video for this song the other day, and it's dreamy. Let me tell ya, I could take the shots of Nat alone looking up at tne camera and see no other shots from Chicks videos and be happy. And it's a great song, too.

Dreaming by Smashing Pumpkins - Every now and then I reenter the "liking the occasional bit of the Pumpkins" mode. This song reentered me into that phase again, and gave me one of the two away messages I use on AIM when I'm sleeping.

Rascal King by Mighty Mighty Bosstones - I've always liked 'em.

Sunrise by Norah Jones - Yum. I mean the song, of course. :)

Top of the World by Patty Griffin - I've listened to almost nothing but the Chicks' haunting version of "TOTW." It's pretty much one of my favorites of all time. And here's the original. While I don't like Patty's voice as much as Natalie's, it is still awesome. If you haven't heard the Chicks version, hear it. I doubt you'll be disappointed.

You Don't and Why Should I Care by Sara Evans - I can turn the "you" into "I" in "Why Should I Care" and almost perfectly have a song about past situations from years back. And "You Don't", too. Sara's voice amazes me, too.

Bottom of the Barrel by Smile Empty Soul - See also: the concert review.

I Believe in a Thing Called Love by The Darkness - I really, really didn't want to like this song. I'm so tired of seeing the lead singer in magazines. Then I heard the song. Okay, I like it. A lot. Argh.
