In one of those things that kinda excites me but also scares me because of who else it involves, Dave Matthews will join Sting, Vince Gill, and freakin' Pharrell Williams (the guy from the Neptunes) for a performance at the Grammys. They'll be paying tribute to the 40th anniversary of the Sullivan show extravaganzas.

The This Book Will Change Andy's Life blog has been updated with Day Thirty (Ignore Today Day) and Day Thirty-One (Nauru Appreciation Day). I've got more facts on Nauru, pictured to the right, than you can shake a stick at! I also make fun of Brunswick, which is worth the price of admission alone.

You know what's big nowadays? Fish piercing. You know, I would think that'd be pretty tramatic for fish with the whole fear of hooks thing and all, but that fish sure does have a pierced lip. You know, people seriously have waaaay too much time on their hands.

Augusta has postponed its James Brown festival and statue unveiling, which is a shame. You know if they ever go through with it, I'm getting a picture with the Godfather of Soul statue.

Noooo, NOT BARRY MANILOW! (In all seriousness, I hope the guy gets feeling better.)

You know, I was just annoyed by the Left Behind books. Now, after reading the article on author Tim LaHaye in the current Rolling Stone, I am majorly scared by both a large amount of our bookstore shoppers and - surprise! - the people running the country.

Due to my lack of cable, I never get to see the great Daily Show with Jon Stewart anymore, which is a better source of news than most news broadcasts. I do watch everything posted on a daily basis on the website, though. I see so much of my sense of humor in the DS that it scares me (I'm apparently easily scared today). I would link you to certain ones, but they're literally all hilarious. Check the link above for the best thing going today.

I like Alex Trebek. I really do. But with all the ruckus from his recent wreck, all I hear in my head is the voice of Sean Connery talking about his mother. "Suck on it Trebek!" "Well that's the sound your mother made last night!"

No, it's The Pen is Mightier! Ah, good times.

I'll be back hopefully tomorrow with an update on "Control Your Dreams Day," and see if my dreams really can involve a hedgehog, a midget, and a plane. Yeah, now you're intrigued. And I need to get back on the crap thing, too.

The Beatles are on the cover of the new Rolling Stone. Yay Beatles! I kinda miss the Howard Dean cover though, because the Beatles just don't get that speech of his in my head like he did (yeeaaaaah!).

There better not be anybody trying to enjoy themself at the Puddle o' Mudd concert Tuesday night!

Anthony, Emma, and Ryan have a blog site called This Blog Will Change Your Life. It's a phenomenon!

For those of you who care at all about the DMB news update, DMB is up for a Jammy, Boyd Tinsley endorses and will be performing (with Hootie & the Blowfish???) for John Edwards, and DMB will be receiving the NAACP distinguished Chairman's award. Yay!

Here's another round of songs I highly recommend you get your hands on (in a totally legal way, of course). Probably back tonight with "The Book" blog entries and some cool linkage I've discovered.

"---- You" by Ani DiFranco
Yeah, I figured I should probably censor that on the main page here. This was put on a CD for me long ago, and every now and then I'm reminded of it. Usually when someone at work tells someone else "---- you." Last night I was reminded in a totally different way... searching for a totally different song by a totally different artist, and this popped up.

"Hey Bulldog" by The Beatles
Wonderful Beatles song (is there any other kind?). Dave & Friends played this at every concert stop.

"Don't Fear The Reaper" by Blue Oyster Cult
Yes, the whole cowbell thing made me like this song. I was surprised when I got the original and it was lacking cowbell.

"Wild World" by Cat Stevens Oh, baby baby it's a wild world. I even liked the Mr. Big version. The Me First and the Gimme Gimmes version brought this one back into my spotlight.

"The One Who Knows," "Whispering Pines," "Farewell To The Old Me," "As Cool as I Am" all by Dar Williams
Dar is a great musician. I ran into a major Dar-needing moment last night. There she was, writing songs about me, apartment complexes, me, and me, in order by song.

"I Only Have Eyes For You" by The Flamingos
No, I *don't* know what brought this on. THE FLAMINGOS.

"I Don't Suck" by Kurt Angle
Hilarity. So purposely bad it's good. Gotta love breaking it down into an Olympic rap.

"Passionate Kisses" by Lucinda Williams
Much better than the Trisha Yearwood and Mary Chapin Carpenter remakes. Lucinda is more or less a goddess, I think. Also recommended: "Ramblin' on My Mind."

"Laid" by Matt Nathanson
Ignore the fact that he's the guy behind "Fall To Pieces" for a minute. It's a remake of the James song "Laid," which was the big song of that first relationship. Lines in it that just fit at the time. Both versions hold up about the same, really.

"Dancing in the Dark" by Pete Yorn
A Springsteen cover! By Pete Yorn! Score!

"Janine" by Soul Coughing
Another great song that DMB covers on very rare occasions at their concerts. They also do Soul Coughing's "Is Chicago, Is Not Chicago," which I have but haven't listened to yet, therefore cannot recommend.

"Pulling Mussels (From The Shell)" by Squeeze
Yeah, I needed another really catchy song to like. Thanks a lot. :)

"Virginia, No One Can Warn You" by Tift Merritt
I highly recommend Tift if you're into that kind of thing.

"Fishing" by Widespread Panic
WP's another of those bands people either like or hate because of their following (DMB has the same problem... a lot of jerkass fratboys and stoners, in addition to those of us who think the music rocks without the trippy stuff and preppy clothes). This song... good. WP... good.
