Scriptures of the Month:
" Let not sin therefore rule as king in your mortal bodies, to make you yield to its cravings and be subject to its lusts and evil passions. "
Romans 6:12

"For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
Romans 6:23

The Plaque

One Sunday morning the pastor noticed little Johnny was standing staring
up at the large plaque of names that hung in the foyer of the church. The
young man of seven had been staring at the plaque for some time, so the
pastor walked up and stood beside him and gazing up at the plaque, he said
quietly, "Good morning, son."

"Good morning, pastor," replied the young man not taking his eyes off the
plaque. "Sir, what is this?" Johnny asked.

"Well, son, these are all the people who have died in the service," replied
the pastor. Soberly, they stood together staring up at the large plaque.

Little Johnny's voice barely broke the silence when he asked quietly,
"Which one sir, the 8:30 or the 10:30?"

We are proud to report that we have completed the "Y2K" date change mission, and have now implemented all changes to all programs and all data to reflect kour new standards:

Januark, Februark, March, April, Mak, June, Julk, August, September, October, November, December

As well as:

Sundak, Mondak, Tuesdak, Wednesdak, Thursdak, Fridak, Saturdak

I trust that this is satisfactork, because to be honest, none of this "Y to K" problem has made ank sense to me. But I understand it is a global problem, and our team is glad to help in ank wak possible.

Bk the wak, what does the kear 2000 have to do with it? Speaking of which, what do kou think we ought to do next kear when the two digit kear rolls over from 99 to 00?

We'll await kour direction.

What has happened to America?
<by:Savannah Ruth

What has happened in America? Where children now bring guns to school instead of their school books. Where bomb threats are not out of the ordinary. Today you walk through metal detectors and police officers to get to class instead of the occasional bully. Some schools won't even allow you to carry backpacks to school anymore. Is this a place where kids are going to get their best education? A place where you must constantly look over your shoulder because someone might have a knife or a gun? And if it is this bad now I shudder to think of what it will be like in our children's generation.......

Movie Reviews

The Sixth Sense
by: Joy

Item A: It's guaranteed to give you the creeps. And to stick with you for several hours after you leave the theater (or turn off the TV).
Item B: It's rated PG-13 mainly because of some blood and guts stuff, and of course some "jump" scenes. (A whole lot of those in fact.) And a guy gets shot, and come other stuff. Check out..... hmm, where is it.... Yeah, here 'tis. Check out http://www.screenit.com/movies/1999/the_sixth_sense.html for all the details on that.
And Item C is my opinion: I liked it. But it's very creepy. It's only the second "horror" movie I've ever seen -- the first was The Haunting, and it was... ok. But this movie -- The 6th Sense -- actually has a plot and well-developed characters and everything. It's as much a drama as it is a "scary" movie. And it has a, ah, very very interesting ending. Really throws you a curve. Hint: remember that the dead people don't know they're dead.
All that aside, and looking at it from a Christian p.o.v. Umm....ok we're talking about a movie in which a little kid sees dead people. People who've been shot, poisoned, hit by cars, hung, the works. And they're up, walking around, talking and hanging out at his school and house. So since people don't come back after they're dead, he's seeing ghosts. If you ask WWJD? (or WWJW) about this movie, I have a sneaking suspicion that Jesus wouldn't spend His money watching a movie. But if He did, well, I don't know. I've been sitting here thinking for three minutes and I really don't know. Probably...not.
But if you watch it, don't bring a little bro or sister who's prone to have nightmares!!

Wild, Wild West Note: I'm not sure if this one is still playing or not.
Rated:
PG-13
Josh
Star Wars is awesome. Wild Wild West was humorous had some cool stuff but it needed some work. The greatest thing or person was Will Smith. Only Will would put a Rap song in a western.

Savannah
I agree with Josh, Wild Wild West had some funny moments, but on the whole the movie wasn't all it was hyped up to be. The only thing that made the movie even bearable was Will Smith who really could have picked a better movie. There was a minimum amount of action, but only towards the end of the movie. Final say: It's not worth the six dollars you have to pay.
Rating:** ( out of a total 5 )

Mickey Blue Eyes
Rated:PG-13

It's a comedy and it is indeed funny. This guy falls in love and proposes to his girlfriend. She turns him down and gets really upset and leaves. He has no clue why. So he goes over to her dad's place, meets him, and asks for her hand in marriage while simply trying to get her address so they can talk about whatever it is she's so upset about. So he goes by her place and she explains that she loves him but hers is a Mafia family and she doesn't want to get him into that. Well, they get engaged anyhow. Her dad likes him a lot and understands that he wants to stay out of trouble. Problems come up. Problems are eventually fixed, but it takes some doing, and they get married and presumably live happily ever after. It's rated PG-13. It's a pretty good movie. I'd give it 6.5 out of 10.

The Lord's Baseball Game

Bob was caught up in the Spirit
Where he and the Lord stood by, to observe
A Baseball Game.

The Lord's Team was playing Satan's Team.

The Lord's Team was at Bat,
The Score was tied Zero to Zero,
And it was Bottom of the 9th Inning with 2 Outs.

They continued to watch as a Batter
Stepped up to the Plate,
Whose name was LOVE.
LOVE swung at the first pitch and Hit a Single,
Because LOVE Never Fails.

The next Batter was named FAITH,
Who also got a Single because
Faith Works With Love.

The next Batter up was named GODLY WISDOM

Satan wound up and threw the First Pitch;

Godly Wisdom looked it over and let it Pass,
Because Godly Wisdom does not Swing at Satan's
Pitches.

Ball One. 3 more Pitches and Godly Wisdom Walked,
Because Godly Wisdom Never Swings at Satan's
Throws.

THE BASES WERE LOADED

The Lord then turned to Bob and told him,
He was now going to bring in His Star Player.

Up to the Plate stepped GRACE.

Bob said, He sure did not look like much!
Satan's whole Team relaxed when they saw Grace.
Thinking he had won the Game.

Satan wound up and fired his 1st Pitch.
To the Shock of Everyone,
Grace hit the Ball Harder than Anyone had ever
seen.

But Satan was not Worried; his Center Fielder,
The Prince of the Air,
Let very Few get By.
He went up for the Ball,
But it went right through his Glove,
HIT him on the Head And Sent him
Crashing on the Ground;
Then the Ball continued Over the Fence
for a HOME RUN

The Lord's Team Won !!!

The Lord then asked Bob if he knew Why
Love, Faith, and Godly Wisdom,
COULD Get on Base But Could NOT Win the Game??

Bob answered, that he did not know Why.
The Lord explained,
"If Your Love, Faith and Wisdom had WON the Game,
You would THINK You had done it by Yourself.

Love, Faith and Wisdom will get you ON Base,
But only MY GRACE can get you Home.

MY GRACE is the One Thing Satan Cannot STOP."
