Mexican Riviera Cruise

Costa Maya and Cozumel, Mexico

April 1, 2005 - April 8, 2005

While on the cruise we met Jerry and Barb Landrum on the left and George and Jackie Walker on the right, all from Mississippi.  We were privy to a practical joke being played on Jackie.  She had seen a watch in one of the gift shops that she really liked.  Barb, pointed it out to George and he got it for her.  But to keep it a surprise the watch was hidden away in another stateroom so that George could give it to her at dinner that evening. 

Jackie had no idea about the watch, and Barb and George were passing it under the table with Jackie unaware.

Jackie had no idea what was going on, but thought it odd that Mike and Barb were playing with cameras!

Jackie was very surprised, and we all had a good laugh at the expressions on her face!  After dinner we headed to the Lido Deck for coffee!  As the evening wore on it began to rain, and we had quite a lightning show.  When the weather started getting bad, Mike and I went to our stateroom and were met with this little critter!

The storm continued and after shortly after midnight, the early morning of April 7, 2005, I pulled out the video camera.  We sailed the western edge of a storm in the Gulf.

This same storm dumped a lot more water on the Southeast.  These are frames that I pulled from the video. 

On the left are waves at the port side of our ship looking down from our stateroom window.

Watching the video, the sea is lit up more than you see in the pictures, but in isolating the individual frames, some of the effect of the lightning and resolution is lost.  In this frame you can see clear the horizon and some of the whitecaps.
