Mexican Riviera Cruise

Costa Maya and Cozumel, Mexico

April 1, 2005 - April 8, 2005

April 5, 2005 arrive in Cozumel from our ship by bicycle taxi!  I'm sure we were one fare he would have been most willing to pass up!

At Punta Langosta we meet up with our tour guide, Alex, (or Alejandro) who will take us to Passion Island for a lazy day in the sun!

The water is so clear that you can see the bottom.

From the pier we have a nice view of our ship.

From Punta Langosta we walk to where the bus will take us to the south end of the island of Cozumel where we will board a boat to Passion Island.

Taken from the bus, these are  pictures of the road that takes us to the end of the Island.

All along the shore are small boats, and off in the distance is Passion Island.

Everyone should own a truck just like this one.  When I looked through the window, there was a drivers seat, but all other seats had been removed and replaced with lawn chairs.

I thought it odd that all the life jackets were up in the top of the boat, and that we weren't required to put them on to cross to the island.

Here we are leaving Cozumel behind.

Ahead is Passion Island.

Arriving at Passion Island.

Again more photos!  Pictures are big business in Mexico--especially when taken with spider monkeys on your head.  What it is about these little guys--they make the most unsual poses and it seems only with men!

As we cross the island to the beach, we pass several huts.  In particular, the tiki hut where the rum punch and Margaritas are found!

Now that we found our lounge chairs--time for a drink!

Time for a little fun in the sun!

Home of the BEST guacamole!

Nap Time!

After lunch Mike headed for a hammock.  The bird in the picture on the right made for a very memorable nap!

The bird stalked Mike for several minutes.    When Mike was just about to drift off, the bird flew up in the tree and left him with a little surprise!  (I was kind enough NOT to photograph that!)  However, I think the bird and the fist say it all!

Fishing boat off the island

The bird is stalking Mike again!

The lady who photographed everyone coming on the island.  And she takes the best picture of all!

Leaving Passion Island.

Mike waving bye-bye to the bird!

Our tour guide, Alex.

After a hard day on the island, and a couple rounds with the bird,  Mike chills at the Hard Rock Cafe.

Our bartenders at the Hard Rock Cafe in Cozumel.

Our ship from the front door of the Hard Rock Cafe in Cozumel.

Heading back to our ship after an afternoon of shopping in Cozumel, laden with beach towels, tequila, kaluah, miscellaneous souvenirs!  In case your wondering that is the little cart that I use to haul computers with!  We learned our lesson shopping in the Bahamas a few years ago!
