Heimarcks Collages |
Reception: Sunday
April 11th, 1999 |
Claire Heimbarck has an original expression of slow changes using a blend of textures. Using Paper over masonite and mixing monotype and wax, her collage display are panels of change. Claire says of her work, "I am interested in the changes that happen in slow time: the gradual weathering of surfaces, the accretions of language, the vestiges of history, all the time worn elements which imbue our imagination and memory."
Claires work is much more than just transformations, the colors and textures of NYC appear in the prints discreetly. Even for herself there was a time before she even was aware or recognized it. Once aware of these peripheral perceptions, she began "seeing" them photographically. The Polaroid transfers included in the show are from slides taken of graffiti on trucks along her street, the sidewalk, or the pavement intersection markings. There is turn had associations for her of other images absorbed in art history. She tries to capture those echoes.
An opening reception for the artists will be held on April 11, 1- 4 PM. The receptions are free and give you a chance to meet and compliment the artists while enjoying light refreshments.
