We welcomed in the New Year with our usual
bunch of friends and neighbours who join us for a buffet dinner, board
games and drinks. We then both nearly forgot our anniversary as it
comes so soon after Christmas and New Year.
Ali and Kurt had a lovely baby girl named Clio Isabelle on 20th
January.
Thanks to the internet and a willing intermediary I made contact with a
Jean Bernez-Cambot in France, near Pau. A French friend of mine
spoke with him and it seems we are indeed related. He is going to
send a letter giving all the details about his side of the family, but at
the moment we believe that his great-great grandparents were Samuel's
parents. He is seventy six and very pleased that there is interest
in the history of the family.
We found out that the government will pay Jon a salary while he trains
to be a teacher. Now he's trying to
find a school that will hire him and provide on-the-job training. If
all goes well he'll start in April this year.
Go to Family Forestry for a list of all the NEW
THINGS on the site this month, including the "book"
as requested by Auntie Sonia. It's not complete, but there's quite a
lot there to get started with.
