The Pirate Master
Mood:  a-ok
Topic: TV
The last season of Survivor was a good one...and the next one looks to be interesting as well, being in China...not on an island...I'm interested in seeing how it is adapted.

But in the meantime, we have The Pirate Master!! At first I didn't know what to think about it when I saw the teaser trailer for it. But I have now seen two episodes and I think it is a pretty good show. Another reality show for me...to go along with TUF5 right now. As it stands right now, the captain of the ship needs to stop acting like a stuck up snob, or he is gonna be cut loose pretty soon. Each week, the crew (split into two teams) hunts for treasure, the winning team picks the captain and he picks two officers. Later, the captain chooses three crew members to be marked for elimination an the non-officer, non-marked crew get to vote for one of the three marked crew members or they can mutiny against the captain. If they mutiny, it must be unanimous, and the captain is cut loose.

Did I mention that the captain takes 50% of the treasure they find, and the officers split 25%? Yeah...kinda adds to the tension. Good show.

Fight night
Mood:  energetic
Topic: TV
The fights tonight were good...a nice warm up for UFC 67 next weekend.

I saw that the Pay per views are going to be in High Def...at least the next few I guess. I really need to get cracking on my bank heist plans so that I can afford HDTV and an HD projector!

I should be starting TKD again in Feb...I should then be able to get my black belt by April...assuming no more nasty surprises!

Yesterday was a tough night to watch tv
Mood:  not sure
Topic: TV
I'm putting this under TV although it could go under Life or Politics. Unfortunately, I missed the beginning of "The path to 9/11" Sunday night, but did watch it all last night. Isn't it funny how the left in this country has no problem with a docu-crap movie like Fahrenheit 9-11...which was mostly Michael Moore's day dreams, and only a little bit of reality (and even that was edited to completely change its meaning)...but they freak out over a movie that is based mostly on reality with only a little bit of added material to make it flow smoothly?

Anyway, watching the video of the second plane hitting the south tower still gets to me. The video of the towers falling and the wall of debris flowing through the New York City streets is the same way...it's hard to watch, but even harder to look away. I think a part of me feels like watching it is the least I can do for all the people that were murdered that day by terrorists. Every time I see it, the same feelings I felt watching it live creep up on me. It's overwhelming. Then I get angry that the left tries to pretend like it never happened...that they try to block everything we do to stop the terrorists (like the New York Times telling our enemies about every tactic we try to employ)...and then they complain that we either aren't doing enough, or are doing too much. They think some how that if we just leave the terrorists alone, they'll leave us alone. But you have to either be brain dead or Anti-"the American way of life" to think that way for real. Personally, I think they are both.

I think 20/20 has lost it.
Mood:  incredulous
Topic: TV
The other night they showed some disaster type countdown. To be honest, I missed the first hour...but when the winner of the countdown was Global Climate Change (Global Warming - GW - for those that haven't been keeping up) over Nuclear War, Black Holes, Asteroid Collision, AI (Artificial Intelligence), Super Volcanoes & Plagues...I fell out of my chair laughing. I actually bumped my elbow on the desk as I flopped onto the floor.

They had Stephen Hawking "talking" on nearly every one it seemed...except for GW. Imagine that, the only real scientist...and he didn't want to be associated with GW. What does that tell you? Oh, but they did have that scientist Al Gore on talking about GW.

It was a decent show and countdown until they got to GW. They actually said that the majority of the scientific community now has no doubt that GCC is happening. Can I please point out the OBVIOUS? It is a natural cycle that the Earth goes through...temperatures rise and fall...regardless of what the occupants are doing. Don't believe me...how then is it that the scientific community also now believes that the poles of this same planet were once a tropical paradise...and not a frozen wasteland? Or how about this one...ever hear of the Ice Age...and how it isn't the Ice Age anymore...oh, wait that must prove that GW exists!!

This idiotic show actually had the gall to assert that it is humans that are causing the problem...this same "problem" has been happening without us even being in the equation. Around 30 years ago, all of the scientific community was ranting and raving about the coming ice age and then just recently only a small part of the scientific community, that the media played up to be much bigger, said we were headed for GW. And only very recently...after how many coldest winters on record...they have changed GW to GCC (this way they can be right whether the temperature goes up or down.)

If the global temperature is changing, I am not arrogant enough to believe that humans play that large of role in it. How can I possibly think that? Well, let's see...a single volcanic eruption spews more pollution into the atmosphere than ALL of the pollution that man has ever created. I think that pretty much proves that Mother Nature is much more powerful than we are. What else does this mean? It also means that we are not to blame for GCC. It is natural...humans that lived through any previous GCC's would not have been intelligent enough to even think that they had anything to do with it...given that they used sticks and rocks. But I'd be willing to bet that if Liberals existed back then, they would have been blaming the changing temperatures on man's over use of fire...or something stupid like that.

Josh Blue wins!
Mood:  a-ok
Topic: TV
Last Comic Standing ended last night with Josh Blue winning. I liked him, as I've stated a few times on here as I've chronicled the show. He has such a great attitude!

Although I have to say that Ty was very funny too. He also has a great delivery. I wouldn't be surprised to see him more...or anyone in the top 5 to be honest!

Just added to the card for the upcoming fight night is Griffin Vs. Bonnar 2. I doubt it can live up to the first one, but it should still be a damn good fight.

I'll be testing for my red belt decided the morning of the fights...that should put completely in the mood for a good fight night!!

Last night Rebecca Corry was voted out...it's about time. I had a hard time understanding how the audience at the roast was laughing at her...but Kristin Key was flat-lined. Now, Kristin wasn't all that funny at the roast either...but Rebecca just plain sucks! Most of her gig is doing kicks...please tell me how that is even remotely funny when a 4 foot something chick is on stage doing kicks???

Anyway, she is gone...and Gabriel got disqualified for smuggling in a Blackberry. That's too bad, because I think he could have won the whole thing.

UFC 61 results
Mood:  happy
Topic: TV
Well, my predictions were off...I was hoping for a few more knockouts...or submissions. Oh well, the night overall went well.

The screen was over 6 feet tall on the wall...so the fighters were pretty much life sized...it was cool. By the time UFC 62 rolls around...I should have a couch or two in there to sit on.

I'm getting pumped for the fights this weekend! Instead of trying to get a table at a Hooters or a Wing House...I'm going to host a fight night!!

I'm getting my hands on a projector, and we will be screening it on a wall...should be huge. Should kick ass!!

As far as how I think the fights will go...
Ortiz in the second round by KO
Sylvia in the fourth round by ref stoppage
Mir in the first round by arm bar
Burkman in the second round by choke
Stevenson in the third round by submission - strikes
I don't know enough about the other fights...although I have seen Drew Fickett fight before.

We will see...in 2 days!!

Last Comic Standing
Mood:  a-ok
Topic: TV
Wow...it is amazing how much TV you can get into when you don't have a job to go to!!

Anyway, Last Comic Standing is back, and in its 4th season...I only remember one other...I guess the other two were conducted in secret! Bill Dwyer and Joey Gay were eliminated last night. I like Bill Dwyer, he has a strange, sarcastic wit. Joey wasn't bad either, I thought he was pretty funny too.

So far my favorites are: Josh Blue (cerebral palsy), Roz (large black woman) and Gabriel Iglesias (large Hispanic dude). I've seen Gabriel on a TV special, but I can't remember where...and I'm too lazy to look it up. I like the fact that Josh uses his disease as a launching point for some of his jokes. He has a great attitude...much better than some people that think that everything should be handed to them just because life dealt them a crap hand! You have two choices, FOLD or ALL IN!!!

On my list of "Who did they sleep with to get into the semi's???" is Rebecca Corry. I don't think that she has said anything that has even made me smile...and I laugh at almost anything. I'm a student of comedy, and the ADD thing just doesn't work...and this is coming from someone with ADD!!! I hope she is next to go...

Treasure Hunters
Mood:  a-ok
Topic: TV
I missed the very first episode of Treasure Hunters...but I did see the second one and I caught it last night.

That redneck team is so lucky! Mullet Man is about as dumb and pig-headed as they come, but some how they luck out and make it through. The kid is the smartest one on that team, and no one listens to him.

The Brown family was on borrowed time anyway. In the second episode, they arrived first at Mt Rushmore, but were almost last to finish.

The religious family is quickly making enemies...and that's not good in this game...other teams have formed temporary bonds to get through some areas and it wouldn't take much for them all to turn against the Fogal's (I think that's their name anyway).

This looks to be a good series...so far though the puzzles haven't been extremely difficult. If you know how to watch TV...like watching a murder mystery...you can pick up on the hints and come up with the solution fairly easily. (Here's a free hint - they never waste time showing you something that doesn't matter!!) Of course, if you are there...and not watching the clues on TV, I'm sure it is more difficult.

TUF 3 finale
Mood:  a-ok
Topic: TV
The Ultimate Fighter season 3 finale was last night.

The first fight was a season 2 contestant, Keith Jardine, against a UFC newbie. The fight went three rounds, and Jardine won by decision.

The next fight was Ed Herman Vs. Kendall Grove. This fight was back and forth, first Ed was in charge of the tempo, then Kendall would break free and get in a shot of his own. The next round, Kendall was in charge of the fight...he was able to get out of every one of Ed's submission attempts. Kendall ended up winning by a close decision, but Dana White decided to give them both contracts.

As I expected, Michael Bisping beat Josh Haynes. Josh is great at surviving submission attempts, he was able to get out of, or outlast every attempt. But in the end, Bisping was just too good.

The main event was Kenny Florian Vs. Sam Stout. Stout had been talking about how he wasn't going to be taken down, but it didn't take long to hit the mat. Kenny choked Stout out in less than 2 minutes.

UFC 60
Mood:  a-ok
Topic: TV
I just got home from watching UFC 60. What a great night of fights! 2 guillotine chokes, a triangle choke, two referee stoppages and a straight-up knock-out!

Matt Hughes pulled off a win by getting a referee stoppage. He had Royce in a straight out arm bar, but Royce's face didn't show anything...the man is a machine! I can't wait to see more Royce in the future in the UFC!

Melvin from The Ultimate Fighter, season 2, showed a lot tonight as well. In TUF 2, he talked a lot of crap and then was the first to go home...but he knocked out his foe cold! I was impressed.

UFC 61 is July 8th...we are gonna have to show up much sooner...I drove by the Hooters we were going to go to a few minutes after 9...it was packed, I stopped by a Winghouse...it was packed. So we ended up going to Barnacles where we had to pay $10 to get in...but we had great seats.

UFC 60
Mood:  happy
Topic: TV
This weekend is the fight between Royce Gracie and Matt Hughes...it should be a good fight. I remember Royce...and Shamrock and Tank Abbott from the first few UFC's. Shamrock and Tank haven't faired too well recently...we'll see how Royce does.

This is the first UFC match where Royce is fighting someone smaller than he is! Knowing that he has beaten guys almost twice his size...it is hard to believe that Matt will be able to do much to hurt him...but Matt is one strong little mother!

If Matt can keep Royce on his feet...Matt might be able to knock him out (assuming that Royce doesn't have good stand-up...and no one really knows, because he has never used any)...if it goes to the ground, Royce all the way!!

Aras won the $1M...although I think that Terry should have won it. I missed the episode where Terry won the car...or I would have known that he wouldn't win.

That is a strange curse that has stuck through the seasons. Whoever wins the car has never won the big prize.
