Yesterday was lots of fun...
Mood:  down
Topic: Life
Yesterday, I had to go to a meeting for work to discuss some of the many changes that have already happened in my position. I have apparently picked up a chest cold and a cough from the wife, and I guess that since my immune system was already under attack, I've got it much worse than her. But...being the amazing employee that I am, I went to the meeting. After the meeting they bought us some pizzas...bribery usually works with me anyway!! :)

I was surprised that the meeting actually lasted as long as they said it would, usually if they plan for 2 hours it will take 3. Once questions start flowing, it is nearly impossible to get back on track it seems like. I was hoping that the meeting would go a little long, because afterward I wanted to go and watch the Black Belt testing.

We got out of the meeting on time, so I had an hour and a half to kill. Since the TKD(Taekwondo) place is a block away from work, I just went over and sat in the car in the sun. It felt pretty good, being sick and all. I stuck around and watched the whole testing...it was neat - sparring, forms, board breaking and weapons. Afterward, I went to go home, and my battery was dead! Oh joy! I got a jump and then went hunting for a new battery. Three places later I found a battery that worked.

Then I went home, took some medication and tried to go to sleep. I also have a lot homework to do this weekend. Of course, I'd only do it because it has to be turned in, but I've already lost a day of working on it.

OUCH!!
Topic: Life
Taekwondo was fun tonight...in preparation for the belt testing next week, we sparred the whole time. Since I just got my sparring gear yesterday, it was my first time really sparring...

Anyway...remember that bruise I got from the soccer game? Yeah, well it seemed like it had a target on it tonight...it must have gotten blocked and/or hit at least a dozen times! Damn that hurt.

I also ended up jamming a toe pretty bad...it is already a little swollen...it is gonna be big tomorrow!

he he he he

I had my first test in Database Management on Tuesday, and me and this other dude were done in about 30 minutes. Well, we got the tests back on Thursday, and I got a 100!!

Oh boy it sure was fun rubbing it in....er...um...telling the wife about it. She just loves to hear my stories about how I do on tests that I do absolutely nothing to prepare for.

Playoffs are over. ;(
Mood:  down
Topic: Sports
We had our first and last playoff game tonight for my soccer team. We lost 4-3. It was a really close game, we scored first then they scored, then we scored, then they scored...it was back and forth the whole time.

I had a collision with one of their guys as he was on a breakaway, I never got his name, but our shins became closely related. I have some ice on them now, but I think I'm gonna have a huge bruise for a little while. I guess that's the price you pay for playing keeper. I did stop the shot too by the way.

It also never ceases to amaze me how many people play the game and don't even know the rules. After each game I've had to correct my teammates on the actual rules of the game.

A New Topic
Mood:  a-ok
Topic: TV
I added a new topic...I figure this will be a place for me to talk about the TV shows I like to watch. Right now, here are my favorites, Sci-Fi: Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis, Battlestar Galactica & then the mystery or scientific shows: Monk, CSI, Law & Order and Mythbusters...and then the rest, South Park, and reruns of The Family Guy and Futurama.

I'm sure that I'll be posting in here much more when Survivor starts up again. I know a lot of people are tired of the "Reality Show" thing...but I think most of those people are misleading themselves about "reality" shows. Since when is having your rent paid, competeing in contests or living on an island and being on TV real? Survivor is a game show, like Wheel of Fortune, or Jeopardy...and if it is watched in that context, it is a really good show.

I heard on the radio today about the HSA's (Health Savings Accounts). These are going to be a huge change to the way people buy and use health insurance. It will use a capitalistic system allowing for consumers to shop around for the best price and options.

I can't wait to get more information in the coming days and weeks.

I heard of this site, and looked around on it for a little bit. HSA Insider Check it out.

Getting a kick out of it.

There is a belt testing in a couple of weeks for Taekwondo. I think I'll be ready to move up a belt. They have belt testings about every two months or so. If I keep it up, I should be almost a black belt by the time we leave town! Now that would be cool!!

Did I say 24 hours?
Mood:  down
Topic: Life
I think this will be more like the 240 hour head cold...I'm still fighting this thing!!

Everytime I think I'm over it, I wake up the next morning feeling bad again.

Maybe I need some alcohol to kill the germs on the inside?? :)

The 24 hour head cold.
Mood:  down
Topic: Life
I'm just now getting over a head cold. It started Thursday night, when I could feel a little tickle in the back of my throat, I knew it was on the way. Well, Friday I went into work at 3 and my voice was sounding pretty bad...by the end of my shift, 8pm, I could barely talk.

I've spent most of today laying in bed, trying to stay warm. I got up a few times, but my head started spinning, so I just quickly grabbed some water and got back into bed.

After I took a shower and shaved, I felt a lot better. My voice still sounds kinda rough...but it least I can talk again!

Well, last week I decided to stop by the Taekwondo place that is a block away from work. I talked to the guy there about a few things and he said that they had a one month trial period. So I went twice last week and again tonight. I think I'm hooked!

They do some killer stretches, and I'm kinda hurting...but it is fun. Lots of kicking too...which is good since I have such long legs, now I just need to get them to extend out a little more. :)

Ever have one of those days?
Mood:  down
Topic: Life
Today started off early...in my sleep I apparently hit the snooze button twice. I woke up almost 20 minutes late when the alarm went off a third time and I actually realized that it was the alarm.

Then I went to work...it was dead. Not that I have a problem with that, easy money...but some one backed into my car at work, so now my car has a dent in the trunk. I didn't notice the dent until I got home.

Then this afternoon, one of my intramural soccer leagues was supposed to start tonight. We were supposed to play a double header at 6 and 7. I got there about 5:30 so I could stretch and warm up some...and I do mean warm up...it was like 40 something degrees out. Well, only one other person on my team showed up, and no one from the other team was there.

Oh...did I forget to mention that I nuked my laptop because I was having some update issues, and when I tried to install Win XP Pro from the disc I burned from the MSDNAA...it doesn't work! Some files apparently didn't make it onto the disc from the image file. So anyway I ordered it in CD form for like $13, but it won't get here until the end of the week.

So I guess that now I'll have to keep myself busy during class by paying attention or something... ...na!

New semester
Mood:  energetic
Topic: Grad School
Well, the holiday/winter/Christmas break is over, and a new semester awaits on the horizon. I'm taking 2 classes, one class has 8 people, the other has 6. There is no way to hide in classes that small.

I'm taking Project Management and Database Development & Management. Should be interesting anyway.

Photoshop

I just downloaded a free trial of Adobe's Photoshop CS, and I've made a couple of images so far. The first one is a sig for my Socom clan's forum:

My second image is a new company logo...It looks ok, but still needs lots of work...I have a couple of other ideas as well, but I'm still trying to learn PS.

There may be hockey this season...

Well, I read the other day that the NHLPA made an offer to the league which included a cut in players' contracts by 24%!! If the union is offering 24%, how much are they really willing to cut them by?

Now the league just needs to make a counter offer, and get something going!! But at least they are talking again.

FSU SUCKS!!!
Mood:  irritated
Topic: Grad School
Anyone thinking of going to FSU...please do yourself a favor...DON'T!

The window to register for next semester is already closed! This semester isn't even over yet, and they won't let you register for next semester. Am I the only one that thinks that is absolutely stupid?

So now I have to pay a penalty for not meeting their idiotic deadline. A year an a half cannot go by fast enough as far as I'm concerned. I also think that after Margarita and I are done with school, we will be leaving Tallyhole ASAP! Perhaps the next day!!!

God this town sucks ass!
