New group
Mood:  bright
Topic: Grad School
Well, it took nearly a month for the professor to decide he wanted to stick me in another group and abandon my project. He actually told me last week...I think.

So, I'm in my new group...it so far it isn't horrible. Although...and this is a scary thing...apparently, I am the grammar and English expert in the group. I started reading the first three deliverables that this group had turned in, and found myself making simple changes....like using their instead of there. You know, stuff you learn in grade school.

There is one other person in the group who has already told me that I will have to be the second half of the brain for the group...and so far I'd have to agree.

I need some hockey already!!!
Topic: Sports
I was forced to watch a replay of game 5 of the 2004 NHL Eastern Conference Finals last night during some of the early election returns. It's kinda funny, even though I knew that the Lightning won the game, I still found myself feeling nervous while I watched the game.

Damn...I need some fresh hockey soon!

It's OVER!!!
Mood:  party time!
Topic: Politics
Wow...my wife and I stayed up until around 2:15 watching the returns until we just couldn't take it anymore. Then this morning we heard that Kerry was finally going to concede...Whew! I now have at least a little bit of respect for Kerry for recognizing that he wasn't going to win, and not dragging out the whole lawyer debacle that Gore put us through last time.

I did find it rather funny when the exit polling was showing that Kerry would win...and the stock market tanked! And then this morning when it was known that Kerry was going to concede, the market shot up!! Now what does that tell you??

Yeah right, the main stream media isn't biased!
Mood:  irritated
Topic: Politics
Isn't it funny how that Farencrap 9/11 movie by fatso gets tons and tons of hype and media attention...eventhough it was full of half-truths, outright lies and pure make-believe...but the movie that correctly counters most of the lies gets 0 attention. And we are supposed to believe that the media isn't biased...rrriiiiggghhht.

Celsius 41.11, the temperature at which the brain begins to die, has come and gone, and I don't recall hearing one word about it in the press. I only ever saw anything about it online.

Not that it will matter, Bush will win by a larger margin than everyone is thinking...that is if the Democrats don't successfully pull off all of the voter fraud that is intended. Like the 30,000 "extra" voters in some places in Ohio.

New movie...
Mood:  energetic
Topic: Politics
Well, there is a new movie coming out soon that counters the lies from Michael Moore's "documentary". Maybe Celsius 41.11 should be called a documentary too...

I can't wait to see it, I've seen a movie trailer online, and looks to be pretty funny...or scary, depending on much credit you give to the wack job left. Personally, I think that they are all a bunch of head cases, and are only worth our attention when they do something stupid and we can laugh at them. Luckily, that happen quite often.

On another note, the www.electoral-vote.com site took off the projected final results page like two days after I posted about it. It was down for about a week...I guess the webmaster didn't like the fact that it kept showing Bush winning big time. Well, I guess that didn't go over too well, so they reworked the formulas...and tweaked them to favor Kerry. Then last week or so, they put the projected final results map back up. Miraculously, Kerry was now winning. Well, even with the formulas set against him, Bush is now showing up as the winner agian....gotta love it!

More problems.

The more I have to deal with FSU, the more I don't like it.

Recently, I got an email from the registrar's office claiming that they had not received my transcript for the spring 04 semester from USF. I responded and told them that the reason was that I didn't take any classes and was not enrolled in any college that semester.

USF had to send two transcripts...and an email explaining that the transcripts say that I was not enrolled for anything during that time.

I'm surprised that FSU has been able to retain students for this long...I find it impossible to believe that I'm the first graduate that has come from USf.

Worst day ever!

This past Friday....sucked!!

Read the previous Grad School post from Friday...and then add this one after it.

Well, after getting my car back, I came home and decided that I wasn't going to go anywhere or really do anything. So I was on the computer, and all of a sudden, my flat panel monitor goes totally white. Yup...my monitor died!

So now I decide to just go to bed and watch TV...I figure the only thing I'd want to blow out next is a cheap tv. I don't need to have my big tv blow up or my PS2. So it's 7:30 on a Friday night and I'm layin in bed watchin whatever catches my attention.

Sometimes you got wonder what you did in a previous life...ya know?

My wife, Margarita - who is a pharmacy student, and I were talking today about a political ad that came on the radio...while we going to pick my car up at the towing company...see Grad School entry for today for further details.

This ad was from the Democrats whining about how Bush had blocked the ability to bring cheap drugs from Canada. Uh...duh! Don't be fooled, the Democrat leadership knows full well that the drugs that would come in from across the border are sub-standard compared to ours, and often times are actually poison. Don't take my word on it...look it up for yourself.

Or we could look at this logically, drugs that come from Canada don't meet our FDA requirements...nor are the ingredients or manufacturing labs cleaned or inspected to the scrutiny that ours are. So if say drug X costs you $7 a pill if you buy it in the US, but you can get the "same" drug from Canada for only $3 a pill...is it worth it? Don't forget that the drugs that come in from Canada, aren't necessarily made in Canada...some could be made in Mexico...or overseas. So is your health and possibly your life worth $4? Mine is worth more than that to me .

Why I love FSU...NOT!
Mood:  don't ask
Topic: Grad School
I've never been a Seminole fan...and now, after being in Tallyhole and going to FSU...I can positively say that I was correct for not liking this school. This school is more messed up than ANY other that I have been to...I have not even been here an entire semester yet, and I've had more problems than anywhere else.

Today, I came to school to use the Master's computer lab to finish a report so I could turn it in by noon. First off, I pay over $200 per credit hour...and I can only imagine how much Doctoral students pay per hour, but neither lab has a single flat panel monitor in the labs, nor do they have what I would consider "good" computers.

The computers are set to revert to a certain setup every time they are rebooted or logged into, that means that you have to update everything...everytime you want to use it...like: Adobe Reader...Real Player...anything from Macromedia...and any instant messenger has to be re-downloaded and reinstalled EVERY time!

Back to the original point, I show up to school looking for a place to park. I found a spot, this spot is in a gravel parking lot, and they use painted logs to mark the spots. I parked in front of a log that signified a parking space. I went in to the lab, finished my report, turned it in, and was going to leave when I noticed both my car, and the girl that had parked across the log from me were missing. Yup, towed! Gets even better...the log that marked the spots had been moved to now signify the end of the row, and was now yellow on top, which marks a "no parking" area.

I go to parking services and bitch about this...as you can imagine, they couldn't care less. The fat dumb bitch that I had to talk to kept acting like I was accusing her of moving the log. I guess it couldn't sink in through her weave that I was not accusing her. I seriously doubt that she could have even bent over enough to grab the log, much less have the strength to move it.

So now $80 later, I have my car and a ticket...which I'm going to appeal. I'm also going to start checking the lot on a consistent basis to see if the log gets moved often. I have a feeling that either the school or the towing company are doing this to make extra money. If they are...

I don't know if I can go an entire year without watching my Stanley Cup Champion Tampa Bay Lightning!!

Guys...get it together! The league will not die off with a salary cap and revenue sharing. The last time I checked, the NFL was using those same things, and I think....don't quote me on this...I think, they are doing....ummm...ok.

Is it just me, or do the Democrats act like 9/11 never happened?

I'm watching the VP debate right now and John Edwards has to be the absolute perfect running mate for John Kerry. They both live in their own worlds!!

Wanna have some fun, check out www.electoral-vote.com

This site has tons of Anti-Bush links for you "I love Michael Moore!" folks...but then looks at reality with the main graphic on the front page. Wanna really get pissed off if you're a Democrat? Click the Projected Final Map link under the big map...last time I looked, the scoreboard looked something like this: Kerry 178 & Bush 350!!

In case you didn't know, you only 270 EC votes to win...that looks like a landslide to me.

Well, the first day of work went fairly well. I know I have still have a few things to work on, but I think I did a pretty decent job. I handled almost 50 calls and emails throughout the day.

I go back tomorrow, but for only 3 hours.

Well, tomorrow I start answering phones as a FEMA Map Specialist. I'm curious how it will go, I hope I don't screw up too badly. I also hope that there are enough calls, that the day doesn't drag on and on either.

More to come...

Oh how I love group projects!
Mood:  irritated
Topic: Grad School
This semester's group project started out great!<--extreme sarcasim!

A month into our project, my group of three lost one because she lived two hours away, and her boss died, and she was forced to seriously increase her workload and could not handle the class anymore.

The same week, the other guy in my group...out of nowhere...writes an email to our professor complaining that our group is having "communication problems"...mind you, this guy had never once called and had sent 1 email in two weeks. Well, now after we had thought it had been worked out, he dropped...leaving just me in my powerfull group of 1!

Tomorrow I get to talk to my professor and find out what is going to happen to me and my project. One of three things I'm guessing, my project will be abandoned, and I'll be placed in another group, two, one or two people will be pulled from other groups to fill the slots open in my group, or three, I'll end up doing the project by myself!

I can't wait to find out which one! I'll update tomorrow after I find out...
