Profiling....  Evolution?  Columbine  How Far?

To ensure we Americans never offend anyone - particularly fanatics intent on killing us (and liberals) - airport screeners will not be allowed to profile people.  They will continue random searches of 80-year-old women, little kids, airline pilots with proper identification, Secret Service agents who are members of the President's security detail and 85-year old Congressmen with metal hips.   Let's pause a moment and take the following test.

In 1979, the U.S. embassy in Iran was taken over by:

(a) Norwegians from Ballard;

(b) Elvis;

(c) A tour bus full of 80-year-old women; or

(d) Muslim male extremists mostly between the ages of 17 and 40.

In 1983, the U.S. Marine barracks in Beirut was blown up by:

(a) A pizza delivery boy;

(b) Crazed feminists complaining that being able to throw a grenade beyond  its own burst radius was an unfair and sexist requirement in basic training;

(c)  Geraldo Rivera making up for a slow news day; or

(d) Muslim male extremists mostly between the ages of 17 and 40.

In 1988, Pan Am Flight 103 was bombed by:

(a) Luca Brazzi, for not being  given a part in "Godfather 2;"

(b) The Tooth Fairy;

(c)  Butch and Sundance who had a few sticks of dynamite left over from the train mission, or,

(d) Muslim male extremists mostly between the ages of 17 and 40.

In 1998, the U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania were bombed by:

(a) Mr. Rogers;

(b) Hillary, to distract attention from Wild Bill's women problems;

(c) The World Wrestling Federation to promote its next villain: "Mustapha the Merciless;" or

(d) Muslim male extremists mostly between the ages of 17 and 40.

On 9/11/01, four airliners were hijacked and destroyed by:

(a) Bugs Bunny, Wiley E. Coyote, Daffy Duck, and Elmer Fudd.

(b) The Supreme Court of Florida trying to outdo their attempted hijacking of the 2000 Presidential election;

(c)  Mr. Bean,

(d) Muslim male extremists mostly between the ages of 17 and 40.

Hmmm .............  nope, ain't no patterns here.

How far have we really come?

Or should we say how far have we gone!

How old would this person be?

One evening a grandson was talking to his grandfather about current events. He asked what he thought about the shootings  at schools, the computer age, and just things in general.

The granddad replied, "Well, let me think a minute ... 

 I was born before television, penicillin, polio shots, frozen foods,  Xerox, contact lenses, Frisbees and the pill.  There were no credit cards, laser beams or ball-point pens.   Man had not invented pantyhose, air conditioners, dishwashers, clothes dryers, well the clothes were hung out to dry in the  fresh air, and man hadn't yet walked on the moon. 

Your grandmother and I got married first - and then lived  together.   Every family had a father and a mother, and every boy over 14 had a rifle that his dad taught him how to use and respect.  And they went hunting and fishing together.  Until I was 25, I called every man older than me, 'Sir'; and after I turned 25, I still called policemen and every man with a title, 'Sir.'  

Sundays were set aside for going to church as a family, helping those in need, and visiting with family or neighbors.  We were before gay-rights, computer-dating, dual careers, daycare centers, and group therapy.  Our lives were governed by the Ten Commandments, good judgment, and common sense.  We were taught to know the difference between right and wrong and to stand up and take responsibility for our actions! 

Serving your country was a privilege; living here was a bigger  privilege.  We thought fast food was what people ate during Lent.  Having a meaningful relationship meant getting along with your cousins.  Draft dodgers were people who closed their front doors when the evening breeze started.  Time-sharing meant time the family spent together in the evenings and weekends - not purchasing condominiums. 

We never heard of FM radios, tape decks, CDs, electric typewriters, yogurt, or guys wearing earrings.  We listened to Jack Benny, The Shadow Knows, The Lone Ranger,  and the President's speeches on our radios.  And I don't ever remember any kid blowing his (or somebody else's) brains out  listening to a song by Doris Day, Elvis Presley, The Drifters, or  The Platters. 

If you saw anything with 'Made in Japan' on it, it was junk. Pizza Hut, McDonald's, and instant coffee were unheard of.  We had 5 & 10-cent stores where you could actually buy things for 5 and 10 cents.  Ice cream cones, phone calls, rides on a streetcar, and a Pepsi were all a nickel.  And if you didn't want to splurge, you could spend your nickel on enough stamps to mail 1 letter and 2  postcards.  You could buy a new Chevy Coupe for $600, but who could afford one? Too bad, because gas was 11 cents a gallon. 

In my day, 'grass' was mowed, 'coke' was a cold drink, 'pot' was something your mother cooked in, and 'rock music' was your grandmother's lullaby.   'Aids' were helpers in the Principal's office, 'ch! ip' meant a piece of wood, 'hardware' was found in a hardware store, and   'software' wasn't even a  word. 

And we were the last generation to actually believe that a lady needed a husband to have a baby.  

No wonder people call us "old and confused" and say there is a generation gap.

 And how old do you think I am - ????

ANSWER!     This man would be only 58 years old.

Evolution? / Creation?

It is a matter of fact that the THEORY of evolution is taught in our public schools today as truth, not the flawed thinking that it is. It is nothing short of an attack on the Christian faith and our national heritage. The originator of the theory, Darwin a devout atheist out to discredit the creation truth in fact destroyed his own theory by its very content. He stated that we would find thousands of fossils showing creatures in a state of evolutionary change, a transitory state. To date we have found NONE.

While we can look and see no real evidence to support the theory we have a good idea why some choose to believe it. Anatomist Sir Arthur Keith said:

"Evolution is unproved and un-provable. We believe it only because the only alternative is special creation and that is unthinkable."

In contrast Canadian Geologist Sir W. Dawson stated:

"The records of the rocks is decidedly against evolution. Paleontology furnishes no evidence."

The Bible tells us that God is self-evident. Only a fool can look at the marvel of life and think of it as an accident.

Thoughts on Columbine

In the wake of a terrible tragedy at Columbine High School in Colorado I  hope we can focus on the ills of a nation and its society that made this event possible and even likely.  I pray we can, so that no more lives will be needlessly taken. 

There are doubtless those that will think me to be some kind of a right wing fanatic for what I am about to say.   Let me be clear, "those that would blow up federal buildings or bomb abortion clinics are part of the problem not the solution".  They are violent criminals of the worst kind.  If I am criticized, then so be it.  I would rather be mocked in a stand for righteousness then praised for foolish but popular thoughts. 

The question I have for each of us is, What did you think would happen? We have ignored the enlightened teachings of our founding fathers and kicked God out of our schools.  While we have excluded God we have then allowed trench coated violent thugs to remain within our school halls.

We try to teach self esteem to our children without giving them the knowledge that feeds it. We tell undeveloped minds that there are no rules "if it feels good do it." We treat divorce and the underlying lack of commitment as a normal fact of life.  Even our highest leaders have no regard for truth and conviction.  Being a single parent is glorified throughout the media, worn as a badge of honor, maybe even something to be desired.

What an incredible disservice to our children.  We have been told that we must treat perverted sex as a matter of preference and endorse it publicly.   How far are we from encouraging the pedophile? 

You may think this a stretch, but what we now are forced to call normal was seen as being "odd" and this within my short lifetime. The television and music industry bombard us with gratuitous sex and violence, our children watch it and we buy it by the truck load. We murder the unborn and call it a choice because we are too lazy and arrogant to be responsible. We treat the arguments of Dr. Kevorkean as something that really does warrant meaningful debate. Then we stand in wonder when our children fail to develop respect for human life.

We condone thinking that teaches that there is no right or wrong, just some kind of adjustable standard known as moral relativism.  A convenient idea that lets us feel good about ourselves as long as we can find somebody we consider to be doing something worse. 

I'm certain in the wake of this needless loss there will be cries for more gun control.  As though these people had  respect for the law or anything else.  I am forced to point out something that is  simple and true.

 "When I was a teenager growing up in the midwest we all had guns".

We sometimes even took them to school for after school hunting trips. We just didn't shoot each other. We were not better people, just better taught. Instead of passing worthless laws we should instead be wondering how kids could be building bombs at home and behave the way these kids did without somebody, hopefully a parent, saying this is WRONG and stopping it. 

If anybody really wants to know, the problem and the solution both are simple.  We have discarded life's rule book, The Bible. This is the one enlightened divine guide that tells us how to raise our children, love our spouse, conduct our business and live our very lives. The words within it give hope to the hopeless and offer love to the unloved. It does all of this through a promise made by a Holy God and a sacrifice by a loving Savior. 

Human life is very complicated and people are not good by nature. If we  don't follow the owners manual there are bound to be malfunctions. 

In closing I guess that none of this really matters as long as the market is up and the economy is rolling along. Why would we rock the boat or hold people accountable for their wrongs. It's only about sex and it's only lying.

While the President was wrong, it is all of us that should be condemned, because we don't have the guts to do what is right. May the Lord help us because we are doing nothing to help ourselves.
