Hermit's Hideaway -- Another World

wander around the ocean (north and east, as glenn suggested) until you come across hermit's hideaway. when you get there, you see that the place has been burned to the ground. if glenn is in your party, he gets all sentimental, and gets *really* pissed when harle shows up + says that she was the one who destroyed the place. she is also under orders to slow you down (haha, this fight doesn't usually last much longer than a round and a half...)

Harle: innate black, tech: moonbeams

this isn't a hard fight. hit her with white elements for more punch, but any color'll do. if glenn is in your party, you can easily take her down with X-Strike (or at least do a lot of damage), and if kid is in your party, attempt to steal (you can steal a photonbeam element (white lv.3), + you recieve the moonglasses after the fight). if this fails, you can always run away and try again (but whatever). sometimes you get the moonglasses anyway, but that's rare.

Harle gives up quite easily, compliments serge on his strength ("trés forte, serge"), and leaves. Radius comes out of hiding, asks if you are lynx's minions, and, if glenn isn't in your party, calls harle a flying munchkin ^~_~^ if glenn is in your party, they reminisce for a bit on old times. radius then invites you into his house. talk to him, and after awhile he tells you to rest there for the night. the next morning, he warns you about a ghost ship. get on your boat, and head to mount pyre.
blocking the way to mount pyre is a heavy fogbank. choose to go into the fog.

The S.S. Invincible

as soon as you get onboard, you are surrounded by pirates. Cap'n Fargo appears, thinks you are working for lynx, hears you out, and decides to test whether you are worthy enough to fight lynx.

Man-o-war: innate black, tech: blackrain

target one man-o-war at a time, and use white elements and everybody's techs. if you didn't listen earlier about the trap room in viper manor, then this man-o-war fight should seem a lot easier (it's easy as it is).

after this fight, fargo calls his pet pterodact, polly (try sayin *that* 10X's fast).

polly: innate red, tech: flap

this shouldn't be too hard, either, but it's harder than the last fight. even X-Strike (red)'ll still do a good deal of damage. if pierre's in your party, watch his hp carefully, since he's innate blue. you might wanna watch glenn, as well, cuz, even tho he's a pretty heavy hitter, he's a wuss... (not that he's got low hp, he's just easily knocked out). do you have that revive allocated???

well, after you've beaten polly he congratulates you... (sorta)... and now it's fargo's turn... oh joy.

fargo: innate blue

watch kid in this fight, if she's with you. hit fargo with red elements (duh). X-Strike should go over *quite* well... "now that smarts"

after the fight, serge faints, then glenn (or whoever else is in your party)... fargo, the dirty cheater, has poisoned your party with jellyfish stingers! your third party member now faints just from the thought of it...
while you are unconcious the *real* ghost ship pulls up next to the s.s. invincible, and ghosts and ghouls take the ship. you wake up, and a crossbones enters the room. defeat him, and save your game. hey, how bout this: allocate *a lot* of white elements, cuz all the enemies on the s.s. invincible are innate black. leave the room, talk to the guy cowering in the corner, try the door, read the note, and talk to the guy again. enter the next door. talk to this guy, then fight off the crossbones. get the aquaball out of the chest (tip: try walking onto the bench on the right 2 get onto the counter). save the guy outside, and a wraith attacks you from the corner. the other door is locked. go all the way to the left, and another wraith attacks you in front of the chest. this door is locked, too. retrieve the firepillar element from inside, and head up the ladder. go to the left, and another wraith attacks you (annoyed yet??? oh, don't worry, there's sooo many more of them left...). save the guy in front of the captain's quarters. go right, and you're attacked by... yes, another wraith. the way is blocked by fire, so go into the room. talk to the guy, + he tells you that there's a monster in the corner. go towards the chest... do i need to tell you??? kill the damn thing + get the panacea out of the chest. go thru the grate in the back wall, and you end up in the other room. fight off the wraith to get the capsule in the chest. kill the crossbones, and go outside. thru the archway is one of your favorite friends. kick its damn wraithy butt, talk to the fat guy twice, and the skinny guy in the back tells you that he has the key. talk to him, and he gives it to you. the other guy tells you the other way to get to the deck. make your way back downstairs, and open the door at the end of the hallway. boo. yes. by now, you must be itching for something else to randomly attack you, no? go down the stairs, and a deadbeat attacks you (happy now???). go out thru the empty hole left by the missing cannon. outside, talk to the guy. his "vitamin drink"'ll either restore all hp, remove all status effects... or poison you. seriously. i was lucky the first time i played, cuz i talked to him twice, and got full hp and remove all status effects... but all the consecutive times i'v played i'v gotten poisoned (so what does that tell you???). and another one of our favorite friends wafts out of the second-to-last opening as you continue left. go down the ladder. there are two deadbeats here under the oars. inside, kill off the deadbeats. yay!!! another wraith appears after the second cannon!!! chase pip, and another wraith attacks you!!! talk to pip again, and he runs off... again... (damn you pip) go up the ramp to the box and get the gravitonne out of the chest. the other chest in the corner is another capsule. can't see pip??? he's under the stairs towards the bottom of the screen from the capsule chest. talk to him again... damn you pip, quit running, tomolu!!! talk to him (again???), + after a bit he finally joins your party! (ug) go up the stairs, + get the photonbeam out of the chest (try allocating this on serge's highest lv., + it'll pack *quite* a punch!!! save your game at the record of FATE. ondeck, a wraith attacks you. suddenly, more wraiths appear, and you are sent to help fargo. he's been hurt, and tells you to take the wheel (rem. how you grew up in a fishing village??? whaddayamean, you'v never done this b4???!!! get your lazy butt over there and take the wheel!!!). uh oh...

deadhead: innate black, techs: darkbreath, death's odor

don't use x-strike on this guy. power serge up, then your next party member (not glenn), and have serge hit the deadhead w/ dashandslash (white). then you can use glenn's dashandgash separately, to cause more damage. hit him with photonbeam at serge's highest level, and this guy should be about halfdead. ^~_~^ remember to keep an eye on your party's hp, cause the deadhead's attacks cause black status effects that drain your hp.

after the battle, fargo tells you that mount pyre is full of lava, so you should first go to water dragon isle to get the water dragon's blessing.

Water Dragon Isle -- Another World

talk to the guy, and he tells you that the water source has dried up due to abnormal weather, and that the water dragon *does* exist, as confirmed by an ice wall in front of a cave. why are you here, you may ask??? well, there's some iron you can get, just in case you didn't get enough on the s.s. invincible to forge iron weapons and armor for your party. also, poor skelly's sturdy ribs are around here somewhere... ah! go up to the top of the screen, near the exit to the next area. talk to the guy under the archway, and he'll give you skelly's sturdy ribs. now you can leave the isle (or you can go farther back, waste time, talk to some fairies, and marvel at the block of ice in front of a cave... wow...) if you have glenn in your party, and haven't explored hydra marshes (another world) yet, you can go there and get some bushbashers (lv.3 green) for him. now, back to guldove (if you chose not to save kid earlier, if not, read the next section anyway for what to do in termina).

Guldove -- Another World

enter doc's hut and kid's room... hey, don't look so glum! kid gives you back the astral amulet, and explains that that and serge are the two keys to crossing worlds. explain the situation to doc, and doc joined your party, dude! go to termina and forge your iron weapons and armor. talk to the churros guy and tell him to lower the price to 70g. now head to opassa beach and use the astral amulet.

Arni Village -- Home World

put leena in your party. talk to the poems girl to get the book of poems. go onto the pier, and freak leena out. heheheh... now, wake up the sleeping fisherman, and he'll take you to water dragon isle for 100g.

Water Dragon Isle -- Home World

the fisherman mentions the fact that it's weird that there are no fairies around. jump on the lily pads. on the left ledges all the way in the back is an aquaball element, and on the right is an iceblast. switch leena out of your party at the record of FATE, and save your game. (get either glenn or razzly into your party). remember where that guy w/ skelly's ribs was in the other water dragon isle??? now there's a waterfall, and an iron in the cave under it. now, continue on back. if razzly's in your party, this'll be an even more disturbing scene... find that the dwarves that left the hydra marshes after the hydra was killed have invaded water dragon isle and killed off the fairies. *grrr*!!! time for revenge!!! the fairy left alive straight ahead recognizes razzly. kill off all the dwarves in this area to avenge the fairies. climb up the middle ladder and enter the cave. the dwarf chieftain is there, and a boss battle ensues.

dwarves: innate yellow, techs: hi-ho chorus, hi-ho warcry

if you battled the dwarves before in the hydra marshes, then you know they start out with their devastating all-party-member attack, hi-ho chorus. kill them off one by one. after there are only two left, they can't do hi-ho chorus anymore, but hi-ho warcry is the same thing, except directed only at one party member.

after this battle, they run off. kill off the rest of the dwarves in this area as well. climb up to the top ledge, kill the dwarf, and enter the cave. get the magic ring out of the chest, and equip it on your green-innate character (to pack more punch against the yellow-innate dwarves). exit this area through the bottom of the screen, and climb down. in the cave is another dwarf guarding a scaley dress in the chest. continue down, and the dwarf chieftain is back. ack! what the hell is *that* thing???

hi-ho tank: innate yellow, tech: element shot (high level elem.'s of different colors, mostly black and blue)

have serge and glenn/razzly attack the hi-ho tank, while kid (or whoever else) attacks one of the dwarves (if you leave both dwarves alive, they repair the tank every so often by 100hp (more or less)). don't worry bout the other dwarf, after you beat the hi-ho tank, it explodes, and the fight's over.

talk to rosetta on the floor. if razzly's in your party, she stays behind with rosetta. enter the water dragon's cave. he already knows what you seek, and gives you ice breath, and *frogprince (summoning element). the scene then switches back to the fairies driving you off the island (ungrateful basts...). razzly sticks by you, tho (if she's in your party). you spend the night on water dragon isle, kid has a nightmare about her past, and she gives you life-affirming lessons. the next morning, the fisherman seems to have disappeared!!! (or not???) now you're ready to go to mount pyre (another world).

Mount Pyre -- Another World

hopefully you saved your game on the world map??? if you choose to bring a blue innate character into this "fiery hell" (as glenn puts it), then allocate him/her with *frogprince. if you're really good at dodging around enemies, you can go for the trapvolcano element off to the left (but you can always buy these in marbule later). plus, remember how the hydra marshes drained your hp for every second you were in there without safety gear??? haha, well, it's worse here. 2-3seconds standing on the lava'll send your whole party's hp crashing down to 1. stand at the edge of the lava and use ice breath. on the right are chests containing a tablet (bottom of screen), and a capsule (top of screen). watch out for the lava boy that sometimes attacks from the air where the capsule chest is. head further back. oh no, not *them* again...

solt and peppor: innate yellow, tech: pepporbox (maybe)

these two bumbling idiots are just here to teach you how to use trap elements, so read carefully. (chances are, the deadbeats on the s.s. invincible used some on you (when at the top of the screen it showed a downarrow and ???)), like what solt uses on peppor. peppor gets pissed, and half-kills solt for you. kid (your lightest hitter) can take him on by herself now, so concentrate on defeating peppor.

see that cave off to the right??? bah. there's only a magmabomb element in there, and who needs another lv.2 red anyway??? plus, there are a bunch of catburglars there, and the lava slides take you aaall the way back to the beginning of mount pyre, and you'll have to defeat all those enemies again (except solt and peppor, of course). instead, head towards the back, and climb up the ladder and enter the cave. no, that huge thingy trapped in there is *not* the fire dragon... that little midget is (but don't underestimate him)...

fire dragon: innate red, tech: fierybreath

pummel him with blue elements. it's pretty damn easy to turn the field effect all blue in this fight, so if you brought a blue innate character with you, cast *frogprince when the field effect's all blue.

after the fight, allocate elem.'s into your new grid spots. oh great, another boss fight??? wow, marcy "REALLY REALLY ABHOR"'s you, doesn't she???

the four dragoon devas (minus one):

zoah: innate yellow, tech: gyronimo
marcy: innate blue, tech: stringphone (all party members)
karsh: innate green, tech: axialaxe (all party members)

a good line-up for this fight is: glenn (or razzly), serge, and kid. have serge attack karsh, kid attach marcy (red vs. blue), and glenn/razzly attack zoah (green vs. yellow). marcy's the easiest to take down, and zoah's the hardest, but this still shouldn't be a hard fight.
after the fight, they run off, and harle tries to persuade to to not go on... don't worry, she doesn't try to fight you. now you're ready to enter fort dragonia...

Fort Dragonia -- Another World

aaahhh!!! no more flashbacks!!! well, be forewarned, this place is a huuuge maze. (aren't you glad you have me???) ^~_~^ ...

you enter into a circular room. you should go counter-clockwise, starting w/ the door on your immediate right

The Red Crystal

when you finally get to the room, read the inscription on the dragon statue. the dragon always faces north, no matter what direction it seems like it's facing. chances are, he's facing you this time. the ones you'll want to choose are whatever *doesn't* equal the top gap. the right gap leads to the red crystal. deactivate it. find your way to the slide, then climb back up. the bottom gap takes you to four chests (from right): trap volcano, flame charm, magmaburst, and firepillar. the left gap takes you to a floating red pyramid that brings your star level up to full. now head back to the main room.

The Green Crystal

bye the dragons, what a mess... first, try allocating a bunch of yellow elements??? okae, go straight ahead, down the stairs to the left, kill the cybot, go around, head through the archway, down the stairs, through the other archway, up the stairs, and get the healall and the bushbasher out of the chest. *sigh* go back through the archway, and up the stairs (watch out for the paperboy). keep going (get the antidote out of the chest). go back, through the first archway, up the stairs, head down towards the bottom of the screen, up the stairs on the left, battle the cybot, turn right, and continue offscreen. watch out for the paperboy, go around and towards the bottom of the screen (another paperboy), and get the trap tornado out of the chest. if you somehow ended up with one of your characters already at lv.6 by now, allocate this to them. if not, don't worry about it. go back, and towards teh top of the screen, then down towards the bottom to collect the aeroblaster out of the chest... run away from the jumping cybot!!! go up the stairs, and down towards the bottom of the screen (another paperboy... btw, feelin lost yet??? don't worry, i'll get you back... altho i can't promise you'll b safe and sound...). pass the blue thingy, and go towards the top of the... yikes!!!

taurusoid: innate green, techs: bodypress, backdrop, chokeslam

pummel this guy with electrobolts and upheavals. he keeps casting healall on himself. if you allocated trap tornado, cast it early on. if not, don't let the field effect turn all green!!! this fight shouldn't take too long, just remember everyone's lv.5 techs (which glenn doesn't seem to have yet... dammit!) (oh well, wouldn't do much good anyway, since both he and the taurusoid are innate green...)
deactivate the crystal, go down, and hit the blue thing, which lowers the staircase. go down these, and exit towards the bottom of the screen.

The Blue Crystal

hopefully you're saving your game at the record of fate in the main room after each crystal??? okae, head up the ramp, and open the left chest. head across the platforms, ignore those chests, keep going, and open the right chest. go back around, across the platforms, and get the sea charm out of the chest in the room. go back to the chests on the right, close the left one and open the right one, cross over, and close the left chest. enter through the doorway. ewww...

giantgloop: innate blue, techs: gooeygoo, takein (which freezes that party member)

for some unknown reason, x-strike doesn't do a whole lot of damage to the giantgloop, but try it anyway. definately use kid's redpin, if she's in your party. the gloop tries to cast bluefield. cast a different color element immediately!!!

deactivate the crystal, hit the blue thing outside the door to lower the staircase, and leave the area.

The Yellow Crystal

this place is an annoying hell. even *i* can't help you here, since it all depends on the order of your party members. what you have to do here is lower the platform so you can activate the crystal. go all the way to the left, and up the staircase and into the room. stand on the footprints and double-x. ignore what they tell you, cause they're usually wrong. go outside, and check what you can get to now. then, hit select, and keep going back into the room until you get the earth charm and the electrobolt out of the chests. if you run out of orders, go to that glowing blue thing outside the door to the side room and press x. this switches your party members around more than pressing select does. at some point, you'll be able to get to the blue thing to lower the staircase on the other side of the room, and later you can access the control panel up there (that looks like one of those unlowered staircases). activate the control panel to lower the platform with the crystal on it. deactivate the crystal, and leave.

The White Crystal

save your game before you enter. this boss is tough.

sunofagun: innate white, techs; kissywissy (freezes your party member and causes white status effects), modechange

use techs and high-level elements on this guy (aeroblaster, magmaburst, iceblast, electrobolt). techs also work well, too... take him down fast and hard, or he'll really devastate your party. gravitonne also works quite well, but any other elements'll result in minus 1hp, or 0 (which gets quite frustrating after awhile...)

take the elevator up.

The Black Crystal

looks quite familiar, doesn't it??? go onto the thing around the platform with the teleporter on it, and get the capsule out of the chest. this layout is exactly like the one in the beginning of the game, but there's another chest that's in an area you haven't been to yet. after the capsule chest, go up onto the platform on the left, battle the dragoon, go outside, battle the dragoon on the dragon, go around and inside, go down the diagonal stairs. go to the right, through the doorway, collect the angel charm, go back outside and to the left, enter inside, and up the stairs. go around the platform, and battle the acacia seargeant for the daemon charm. continue around through the doorway...

bunyip: innate red, then black, tech: devilthunda

if you got that trap freefall on viper bluffs, then allocate this. don't use up any techs at first (esp. not any of serge's). power everyone up, then hit him with an iceblast or two. now he changes into something *really* ugly of innate black. cast trap freefall, and now you can use everybody's techs. watch out, cuz this guy'll use lv.6 elem.'s (i.e., inferno and freefall). serge's luminaire does a lot of damage.

deactivate the black crystal, and head to the teleporter (get rid of that damn dragoon, willya???).
now this is where things get ugly. (and i don't mean the fights, cause you can beat them both using just techs)

general viper: innate yellow, tech: g-force

glenn should do pretty well against general viper, plus he should have his lv.5 tech by now (finally!!!). "Hah-hah-hah!!!"
after the fight, the general compliments you on being worthy adversaries, and decides to give it his all this time. but before he can make a move, lynx stabs him in the back (the traitor)

lynx: innate black, tech: glidehook

this fight shouldn't be too hard, either. just use techs and white elements (hopefully you still have that photonbeam in serge's highest level???)

after the fight, lynx starts blabbering about hate and love and coins, which gives you a mighty big headache (as does that damn evil orb again!!! (stupid dragon tear)), you get another flashback, and fall on the floor, and things just get generally worse from there. uh... nice eyes. (uh-oh) damn, since when did you start talking so much??? um...

serge, kid, and glenn/alternate party member: innate black, red, green/alternate

well, if you haven't figured it out yet, you've somehow turned into lynx. do your best to stay alive, but it won't help you any (blieve me, even if you *do* kill off your friends, you suddenly develop a conscience, walk over to kid, and she kills you with one stab). anyway, after your near demise, "serge" wants kid to kill you, but she's hesitant. whoops, lynx made a mistake, didn't he??? "how'd you know lucca's name?" serge then stabs kid. "yer... lynx... aren't ya??" well, yes, so it seems, you are... "serge" takes the dragon tear off the pedestal, knocks out your other party member, and blows some shit up before leaving.

HALF-WAY POINT!!! (haven't you been playing this game long enough???) oh well, shall we keep on???
